AMD has posted a handful of benchmarks tested across 10 games in both 4K & WQHD resolutions. The benchmarks were carried out on an X570 reference platform for all graphics cards which made use of the Ryzen 9 5900X 12 core and 24 thread processor, 16 GB of DDR4-3200 MHz memory and the latest drivers for each graphics card.

Since this is a Ryzen 5000 CPU based platform, AMD GPUs take full advantage of the Smart Access Memory technology which allows CPUs to take full use of the graphics memory that is featured on the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, allowing for up to 11% increase in performance across select titles.

So starting off with the benchmarks at 4K, the Radeon RX 6900 XT wins in 5 titles against NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3090 while coming in real close to the card in the remaining 5. The RX 6800 XT also manages to come out faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 in 5 titles which is quite impressive as the card will retail at just $679 US compared to the $1499 US price of the RTX 3090.

The Radeon RX 6800 XT comes out faster in 6 titles versus the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card. Lastly, we have the Radeon RX 6800 which destroys the RTX 2080 Ti at 4K resolution in all titles & even outpaces the RTX 3080 in Forza Horizon 4.

very nice numbers. Do we have confirmation of its RT performance? The assumption is RT perf is weaker. I don’t know if it is confirmed

You know what's great, the 6800 absolutely destroys the 2080ti in every benchmark and the 2080ti still beats the 3070 in many tests.......It will be interesting what these cards can do with Rage OC or with TGP around the Nvidia cards....Apparently these cards have some serious headroom on top of Smart Access Memory. Rumor is that some of these cards can clock really high OC'd.....

I've already seen the powercolor card design, that card will be an absolute beast.....So will Sapphire of course...

3070 is such a joke of a card and people where actually thinking about picking one up rofl. sadly the 6800 is just to expensive tho to not go for the 6800xt.

Anyway can't wait for the reviews.

I would be interested in seeing the 3080 @ 1440p DLSS Vs. the 6800XT @ 4K. I don't foresee many (if any) AAA games not supporting DLSS going forward, even if Nvidia has to implement it themselves and pay the publishers for the honor.

I think there was a duplication in the Wolfenstein WHD results, it's the same as the QHD result..

The framerate stats for QHD and WHD in graph form...

And to think people were saying AMD would have not even matched the 3070 or barely so.....

Also, RT performance on the AMD cards seem to be very good as well. Some preliminary results shows performance over Turing's 2080ti, but we have no idea what card was being tested, it could have been the 6800 with it's 60 raytracing acceleration cores.......But that pure rasterization performance on RDNA 2 is just insane and there is still more legroom to get much ore performance......That Sapphire liquid cooled card should be nuts under Rage Mode...

Here's hoping that availability will be way better and we can actually get AMD cards for MSRP day one, cuz otherwise it'll be better to wait till sometime next year.

you need to have ryzen 5000 and smart access memory enabled. so if you are on any other system, deduct around 10% off the results

it is lame amd dropped ryzen 3000 users. i would have gone for 6900xt.

amd is getting evil with small success. :messenger_downcast_sweat: :messenger_ok:

Jup that's why i don't really put much weight in those AMD numbers. I wanna see the real numbers without the 5000 exclusive stuff. Its a shitty move of AMD for sure.

3070 is expect to perform on par with 6800XT with RT. Moreover 3070 is more of an 1440P card.

I’m interested, as a Zen 3 owner (soon). But I’m also interested in ray tracing and DLSS. Not a simple decision just yet. Waiting for reviews.

So 6800XT multi game averages around 4% faster than 3080 at 4K and 8% at 1440p, costs $50 less, and has 6GB more VRAM. The gotcha is that it's likely to be 30-50% slower at Raytracing, lacks DLSS, is missing all of Nvidia's VR specific features, and has a reputation of poor drivers and compatibility (frequent issue with indie games who don't QA AMD hardware cause their market share is near 0%).

Great rasterisation performance, good to have AMD back!

..but I do find the lack of Ray Tracing benchmarks (Control, Metro Exodus for example) rather annoying. We all know that this is their first go at RT hardware and its not going to match Nvidia's 2nd gen Ampere RT hardware, but what we ALL want to know is just how far behind it is.

pretty much. on its own 6008 looks really good but what's the reason not to spend an extra 80 for the better gpu?

Let me see the numbers in something heavy or broken like rdr2 and avengers.

My casio calculator can do 4k60 in doom or gears...

I think it's going to be such a benchmark chaos because the many variables. Raytracing, DLSS, dx 11 or 12, AMD or Intel CPUs etc.

Glad for AMD, those results are impressive. And the gains with the new CPUs are such a smart move and will cause many people to go AMD only if their GPU becomes 10% faster.

will Smart Access Memory only work on X570? So if you use a 5000 series processor with B550 or a 4-series board, you can't use it?
That's what I heard as well. I hope they will confirm or, even better, change their minds. At some point I will upgrade from ryzen 5 2600, and with 450 board it seems I am screwed. So I might as well go with more budget option and upgrade to 3700x. But getting this gpu boost with a cpu upgrade would be sweet and would surely help to convince a lot of people to buy an AMD gpu... Myself included.

Looks comparatively promising. Obviously we will have to wait for 3rd party performance reviews.

Not sure I care about RT or DLSS performance at the current rate of adoption and visual improvement/frame rate cost. I haven’t used either so maybe seeing the results in person would change my mind.

Either way, these AMD cards are looking like true contenders.

I've stayed away from AMD because of this. Is this still the case today?

It should work with any 500 series Motherboard, so the X570 or the B550 should both work.

I'm not sure if this is to do with hardware specification on the new boards or something lacking in the old boards. Maybe AMD can backport SAM to X470/B450 boards too in the future?

Hopefully RT performance isn't going to be horrible (even though if it actually was good, at this point they'd be boasting about it everywhere).
