Worst part about this acquisition is that 2 weeks ago we saw people calling out members who said COD is lacking quality.

Now we see the people defending COD acting like Destiny is trash.

Just come on, don't be like that. There's a word for that type of behavior but I'm trying to avoid a flame war.

Some People donā€™t understand the value of bungie.Bungie made the very successful Halo ip and made Destiny both great games with a huge fan base.Bungie can create something like halo again and be very successful and they have lots of employees. This is what Sony was lacking, they have killzone and other shooter ips but the studios who made those ipd donā€™t want to make third or ego shooters all the time so here comes Bungie into play with their huge over 600 employees with expertise in shooters.
Most of the people involved in Halo are actually in 343.

And they are still gonna keep Destiny multi-platform? I can understand Call of Duty because it generates so much money, but Destiny?

I assume this is because of the eventual Destiny 3, they want that as a massive exclusive PS5 franchise, I assume.

They will work well together, very similar approaches to business. Very surprised Bungie decided to stay multiplatform though.

Facts say the 360 was the place to be for the majority of the generation, no feeling involved. Mindshare is more important than sales especially when theyre as close as the 360/ps3 were in the end.
Came out a year earlier than the PS3, and the Wii won, don't try to change history.

I don't really see anyone talking about future IP. Bungie will obviously develop a new IP exclusive for PlayStation. Destiny 3 probably won't happen, or if it does, it will only be on PS5.

LOL, I said basically the same right at the same time.

This isn't and can't be about Destiny 2.

Sony: "Microsoft give us call of duty after 2023!"
Spencer: "lol nope we have the most popular fps now"
Sony: "that's it, we bought Bungie! Now hand over call of duty or we won't release destiny 3 on xbox!"
Spencer:

Man, what a weird flex and move. I would rather save up to buy something worth y money rather than waste it on a developer that hasn't been shined since last time they made games for Microsoft.

Eating up the scraps.
Maybe thatā€™s the reason youā€™re not a CEO. You donā€™t know what youā€™re talking about

we really should make bingo cards about reactions to acquisitions

it doesn't even matter if Sony or MS is the one who acquires a company, the fanboys on both sides say the same stupid shit

I swear to Jesus, these insider traders at the worst! Someone leaked the news to select "special" investors :messenger_pouting:

Looks like Playstation is thinking it needs FPS games, cause lets be honest that is the most popular genre rn and has been for a long time now. Lets be honest it's someplace PS is SEVERELY lacking! You can hate on Destiny (as former Destiny addict, I do LOL) but you can't argue with the way that game does gun play, it just feels fantastic. Good move on the PS side to patch up a GIANT hole they had in their ship.

Bungie might be the guys taking over all those Playstation FPS IP's everyone seems to want to make a comeback. I personally would rather have Bungie EXIT Destiny, or at least dedicate a small team to it... and move on to something else, please :messenger_grinning_sweat:

EDIT: I personally think quite a few ppl are "disappointed" with this purchase because of perspective. It seems like most acquisitions are looked at "which franchises will be taken away from company B or C? :messenger_smiling_horns:" That seems to be the prevailing sentiment... it's about what will be "on my side" and no longer on "their side"

They won the 7th gen (no, ps3 barely coming back in sales doesnt matter lol ) , these things change. They're setting the stage to win again in the future.
ROFL.

People buying multiple consoles because they kept breaking (before MS admitted it was their fault and ponied up the dough) and still a comfortable, all be it closer (to Sony), third.

I think you are forgetting the Wii.

Man you opened yourself up to 2k posts of 15 thousands words each about how you took that out of context.
Ryan says that more acquisitions are possible, but he was eager to remind us that Sony's existing studios have grown considerably over the last generation.

"It's probably not widely appreciated or understood, to what extent that we have grown our own game development capability organically over the course of this generation," he says. "Obviously, it's been helped by the acquisition of Insomniac, and it's wonderful to have them as part of the family. I would just invite anybody to look at the launch window line-up of the PS4 generation, or PS3 generation, and compare it to what we are going to bring in the equivalent phase of PS5. There's just no comparison.

"That is the fruit of not massive spending sprees, but of very, very steadily, carefully planned organic growth. Probably the best example I give... I could obviously talk about Naughty Dog, but they've always been making great games. But let's talk about Ghost of Tsushima, which has been a critical delight and certainly a commercial delight to an extent that we didn't think it would be. That speaks volumes to the work that Sucker Punch has done to build on their previous canon of work.

"We are lucky enough to have five or six studios who fall into that category... But it isn't luck, because we've been working on this for years and years. Very quietly, in a very PlayStation way, we've been building something quite special with these studios. You can do it with frenzied acquisition, or measured acquisition, or you can do it organically."

They should've used full quotes and linked the original article.

Not a fan of buying up in terms of consolidation, but at the very least, this is the way to announce it. Let the fans know exactly the situation with no room for debate like Xbox.

Everything will be multiplat, including future things. Good on Jim and PlayStation for the clarity.

Have to say, too, that this feels a bit like Activision merging with Blizzard, in that Bungie will supposedly be independent, but then bit by bit become a Sony studio full-stop.

Don't bother with this one. He wouldn't know a fact if it sat on his face.

So strange to see Jason Schreier on MSNBC speaking so glowingly of this deal. He isn't on the phone contacting antitrust people this time? :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:
And he just dropped that recent Bungie is a toxic workplace article.

If you follow Schreir's output, then Sony is buying Ken Levine's small studio next. They just had another toxic workplace article as well.

So you're saying Bungie with only Destiny is a better acquisition than Activision Blizzard, with Wow, Diablo, starcraft, call of duty, crash, spyro and so on and so on.

I know there's a hell of a price in difference, but we all know which of these are the price cows that's actually will get their moneys worth lol.

The fact the people's 360s kept breaking and they kept just buying a new one instead of switching to ps3 says it all.
