If you have a TV that supports VRR, the game was pretty decent on Series X if you installed the mod that unlocked the framerate, as it still ran in 4K and only dropped frames in the usual places, like the Corvega assembly plant and the swamps with too much fog.
I wonder if they bothered to really optimize this 9 year old game for PS5 and Series X or if they just lowered the resolution to run at a locked 60fps. I mean, it's taken them literal years since they announced this update. Certainly Bethesda wouldn't be that incompetent, would they?

I am pretty sure you know the answer. 😉

Bethesda definitely can be that incompetent and this will be a minimal effort showing.

My settlements looked like hobo camps.
"Here's a cheap turret and 2 chairs, good luck fuckers!"

Was not a fan of base building, thankfully it's all optional.
I was like that at the start and then got big time into it. Loved it and spent hours doing it. I quit once I heard the patch was coming though as doing it in 30 fps is tough.

Bought the season pass now that it's cheap, already had the base game. Hope the save doesn't get corrupted this time around.
Well, some of the DLC is bugged out and makes your game crash as soon as you start it. I think it's the Wasteland and the Automatron that are bugged at the moment, so try not to download them for now. Bethesda is aware of the issue and it might get fixed during the patch.

I hope they stick to the release date and i'll just delay the update, that would be better imo than another delay of the mod until whenever, playing Fallout London is my preferred choice first and i'd play the Fallout 4 update later, but we will wait and see.
They released this as a statement on their Discord. This sounds more and more like they may delay it. Either way, it seems we will have a proper answer this weekend

Excellent.

Fallout 4 GoTY edition (with all the DLC) is currently on sale for just $9.99 on XBL.

If it's like Witcher, they might increase the price permanently after this update comes out.

I was almost going to jump on this, then I realized since my 96 hour character is stranded on a PS4 that no firmware update seems able to resuscitate, this might be the better deal for anyone having to start from scratch:

This is everything from the $55.55 Steam store bundle, minus Fallout 4 VR, for thirty bucks less.

I know even saying this is ridiculous but i wish they would have updated the map in this update to match the fallout 76 one

I got you!

There are a bunch of mods and I recommend running it vanilla first to make sure everything is firing before you start modding, but once you're there ---

First, head on over to Nexus Mods

  • FRIK - Full Player Body with IK
    Contrast Adaptive Sharpening for VR
  • More Accurate Weapons
  • Fallout 4 VR Optimization Project
  • Improved Reflex Sight Reticle Visibility - VR
  • PipBoy VR light

I'm not exaggerating when I say the VR port completely changed my perspective on FO4. I thought it was a bad game until I played this version, now it's one of my favorites. Suddenly escort missions and fetch quests feel way more engaging, and the detail in environments blows pretty much every other VR title away.
I've been researching mods for Fallout VR and DLSS mod is supposed to be very good. So that gets a recommendation as well

Thank you, and you got me! Nevet played the game but now I want to play it in VR.

So this is a native current-gen version, right? Is there also going to be a last-gen patch for current-gen systems? (e.g. playing the PS4 version on PS5)?

I'm relieved to hear this will work on Steam Deck, but at a same time I know how Bethesda tends to bork mods with each of their updates, so I'm cautiously optimistic
Steam Deck Verified? Nice. Gives me a reason to finally try and playthrough the whole game.
FYI Fallout 4 already works fine on Steam Deck, in fact it’s in the top 50 most played games on it.

I think the only change is there will be an official Deck performance profile, which is always nice.

Really disliked this game and immediately stopping playing after a few hours.

cool that it’s getting an update but I doubt it’ll interest me
This. It was a very mediocre fallout game with a few neat ideas. Also worried about the new quest. “Can you stop the evil ideology” screams lack of choice to me. Let me team up with them and be evil if I want.

Update ? will it break mod ?
Of course it's going to "break mod" Then you will wait for an update to recover Mod functionality. Unless the modder has early access, they can release date and date, but normally we wait. Not all mods break after updates, but most do, from my personal experiences.

I don't get it. Is it like the PS4/X1 Skyrim where they at least tarted it up abit, or is it Skyrim PS5, where it was just 60fps and some creation club crap.
