I think the only time you have to talk to the NCR in either of those two quest lines is for
the NCR president thing
right? In which case you should talk to the ranger at the welcome desk.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I just went to The Fort and fucked everyone up disguised as a Legion warrior.

Oooo a Fallout New Vegas thread. My kind of place.

I recently gained all the achievements on FO3 and decided that if any game deserved to be in my 100% completion list, it should be New Vegas. Started a new character after downloading it digitally and used a friends DLC disc to pick of GRA as I had previously bought the other DLCs when I last played the game.

That is neat. I'm trying to complete it 100% too. I'll just level up to 50, finish the DLCs and start a new campaign. I can't ally with Mr. House or the Legion in my current save anymore, and I need to finish the game with those two. I also need to finish it in hardcore mode, which I guess it will be how I'll play when I start this new playthrough.

Anyone know how the PS3 version of Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition runs?

I have the PS3 version of Fallout New Vegas and I don't remember to many issues. I had it freeze a few times but not to many though. However I don't know if they ever fixed any issues the game had with the ultimate collection. Or would it be better to get the Xbox 360 version instead?

Alright guys. I just bought the Ultimate Edition on the steam sale and I need some advice.

1. Is the Ultimate Edition all I need to get the JE Swayer mod? If not what do I need to make sure I have? Should I use the mod on my first playthough.

2. The Ultimate Edition has all the DLC included right? Should I just take quests as they come or should I find some way to avoid the DLC quests until the main quest is done?

1. Yeah, that's all you need and I would use it on the first playthrough

2. You get all the quests in your journal right after you step outside. There is a mod that will delay that until your in the general area of the quests if that annoys you enough. I would wait until you are at the point of no return in the main quest before doing any of the DLC although Honest Hearts is really easy to do at a lower level.

Thanks hem. I read somewhere that I need a mod manager of some sort to install JE Swayer?

Just before I commit to the point of no return right? And it's easy to spot?

You might need it to set the load order and the game tells you when the point of no return is so you should be fine.

People who play this on the PC. Do you play with controller or kb/m?

EDIT: Also do you recommend Vegas or fallout 3? if you had to pick 1.

I usually play most modern games on PC with a controller but I played this game with kb/m.

I would rate this as the rpg of the generation but I'm sure many people will disagree. Other reasons why I like this over Fallout 3: No subways, better writing, factions, modding your weapons and more ways to solve quests. Oh, and you can play the game without firing a single shot.

Urrrrgh. I have been wanting to pick up Fallout 3 and New Vegas for the Steam sale, and finally when they are having a flash sale going on I have to wait for my paycheck to process.

Come onnnnnn. :(

I should give this game another try. I made some stupid decisions in the game at first, but I kind of want to give it another go.

With the DLC on sale on Steam, is any of it worth getting? All of it? Some of it?

all of it is worth getting except courier's stash

Huh. It's actually more expensive to buy the DLC on its own than it is to buy the Ultimate Edition.

If I already have New Vegas and buy the Ultimate Edition, will I get a spare as a gift copy? Or will I get two entries in my Steam Library?

Why do I glide forward for what seems like a large number of steps after letting go of the forward movement button?

Also, I apparently have this game thrice over now... PC, PC Ultimate Edition, and PS3. Total spent is around $15 I think though, going to actually try and play this now though after buying it again.

Must be a mod you have. I was just thinking today while playing this how artificial the sudden stops seem when you let go of a movement key. A tiny bit of deceleration would be a good thing, but I can see how a few steps would be quite annoying.

I've been trying to find the big box versions of fo1 & 2 but no dice :(

and I have a super huge promotional fallout 3 box that I bought off some dude in an airport in panama. not much of a fan of fo3 but it says fallout and it's huge, I couldn't say no

No mods, but I guess I'll check the data files to be sure. Maybe try resetting controls to default as well to see if that fixes it..

So I completed the NCR and Wild Card endings, and I'm now looking to do some of the challenges in the GRA DLC. Can't remember what else I've got left. Sure it's not much though.

I should get to playing it again.

I got it last week and have been playing F3 on PC here and there over the years and I use kb/m, I like it over the controller.

As for the second part that is really hard for me >.<
I like both...but if I had to pick one it would be 3, as long as it came with the dlc.

Just got done destroying the Mohave population with my lucky filthy rich evil character I started a while back. First thing I did was wipe out
Goodsprings with the Powder Gangers help
. Then I made a bee-line for the strip, sneaking passed deathclaws with stealth boys and blowing up radscorpions with my mercenary grenade launcher. Was actually pretty challenging instead of going around through
Nipton/Novac like usual
. Then I proceeded to gamble the fuck out of the casinos with my maxed out luck I made a ton of caps. After getting kicked out of them all I did Honest Hearts to get leveled up.

Did Dead Money next where
I snuck out all the gold bars.
I made a ton of caps selling them to the gun runners (though it took a while). I pretty much could afford anything and everything (I think I had like 400,000 - 700,000 caps, can't recall). Since this was an explosive build also I bought loads of good explosives and then wiped the fuck out of the strip
besides the White Gloves as I needed them for the legion (came back and killed them all after the ending)
. Went onto kill the
Boomers, McCarren, Freeside, etc.
I was a one man army lol. I did the other DLCs of course and had some home made fat mines just for those pesky
Lonesome deathclaws.

Had a lot of fun, now I'm doing a dumb and poor, good guy stealth cowboy who survives off the land. It's fun to be small and quiet sometimes.

I just love the role playing in this game so much, the way you can approach anything in anyway. Best RPG out there. I hope FO4 delivers.

Also does hard and very hard just make enemies tougher or does it make them more powerful as well?
they deal more damage and they can take more hits before dropping

like deathclaws and cazadores can usually one hit kill you through power armor in very hard.

Goddamnit, started playing this again, I'm approaching the 500h mark now.

The thing is; I don't even see any new stuff, I'm just playing the same character over and over, trying to perfect my run.

Ah well, there are a couple new mods out that I want to try.

play at least the ncr/house/independent storylines if you haven't. ceasar's isn't very good but the others are pretty cool

what I really want is to try the dlc out with a new character, maybe an evil one

Hahaha, yeah, it's always tempting to go through that perfect build you know all the best tricks for.

But damn at 500 hours. I think I stopped at 250 but it's been begging me to come back... Still haven't done a NCR or Legion myself, actually. Maybe a NCR courier this winter would be fun.

Yea 500 bests even me... I only played it for 200 back when I had it pirated (wasn't gonna wait for my fav series) and then another 200 on steam

I'll take this as a challenge to do a new run, maybe try the dlc with an evil char and some new mods...

I really enjoy doing a Gordan Freeman playthrough and helping anywhere I can. Energy Weapons and Science for the wastelands!

HEV Suit in a very dangerous place, stats good for a third of the game.

hmm maybe I can do a female version of gordon

can't make dudes in character creators, dudes are so much more boring to look at than girls

On PC, what's the best anti-aliasing method to use? The game's own setting? Or should I override it with the Nvidia Control Panel? And if so, should I use FXAA or CSAA?

Well goddammit I'm jumping back in.

JSawyer mod, Very Hard, NCR run for the first time. Since it's a military faction, I'm going to play a Solid Snake character minus the whole stealth thing. I just want to kill as many people as possible with as many bullets as it takes... Because that's what atomic era Snake would do. No fancy computer/energy weapons bullshit either, ain't no Otacon's in here.

Turns out, thank dog, there's mods for that. A box that allows hiding in plain sight and an Enemy Alert mod that adds the sound and red exclamation point when you've been seen!

Favorite game of the generation? Favorite game of the generation.

Finally got the ultimate edition with all the DLC, only ever played vanilla.

What are some fun builds for a new playthrough? Thought maybe energy/science/medicine? I usually always just do small guns/repair/lock pick in fallout games. I guess melee/unarmed are the other options.

One interesting build to try would explosives + melee. Have a melee weapon for backup, try to get access to the NCR Correctional Facility as early as possible. If you don't want to fight you can try playing a criminal minded character and get in through connections and dialogue checks. Do the Powder Gangers stuff to get as much stockpile of explosive weapons as possible. Play the rest of the game as a crazy fucker blowing everyone up. :D

That's where the main faction of the Powder Gangers set up their base. If I recall right, you'll have an easier time getting in if you help the bad guys when they attack the town at the start.
