The only anoying thing is that this video is out there and we have to live with the PS5 moking now for a while. But thats just how it is with Propaganda ..
So , be calm.. PS5 will IN THIS Year prove that stoopid of a propaganda Video wrong.
I finally watched the video, this is worse than I suspected.
They did not even measure the frame rate of the PC and the PS5 in the same manner
- on the console side they measured the vsynced output
- on the other side they measured the reported framerate on the PC itself, no vsync, no frame rate cap
That cuts from measuring the high frame rates above 120fps (which they note).
That also makes the drops much more dramatic since the frame rate always drop from one divider to the next (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 60, 120 are the only values possible on the scale)... so if the game runs between on average 90fps (between 120 and 70, with dips above and below) you'll see a graph with a series of jumps from 60 to 120, maybe a couple of frames at 30 - the blue mess) instead of a varying line like they show on their 1060 graph (the red line):
The graphs would probably look very similar on both machines.
Assuming the game is more CPU bound and does not use a lot of threads (very possible) the 4 cores, 4.3ghz boost clock would explain how the machine with the 1060 performs in this game... but I suspect it would not "outperform' the PS5 if they had measured the same thing on both machines, which is strange and can't be an error on their part because I have seen these guys go in other videos and generally they know their stuff, it looks like a conscious choice not to displease their usual audience.
Anyway, I though GN was above that kind of BS.
