So pandemic supplies didn't affect the switch at all?No it hindered PS5 production.
Switch had no such issue.
Seems funny that all car manufacturers are having supply issues, but Nintendo is fine.

Switch didn't launch during a Pandemic. You stated PS5 is more popular than Switch despite Switch has sold around 90M LTD and nearly 10M were sold in the first half of 2021.
But there was after and still is until now. There wasn't a Pandemic when Switch launched.
Huh?So pandemic supplies didn't affect the switch at all?

Not taking a stance either way but the shortage isn't affecting everyone equally. Nintendo's older chip may have lowered production but that isn't the same as newer chips that are all competing for space in the newer foundry processes. So pandemic supplies didn't affect the switch at all?

I actually think 90 might be tight, (keep it bookmatked) they are going to lose a lot of ground they took last gen.Switch didn't launch during a Pandemic.
Switch has been out much longer.
Do you think PS5 won't sell 90M?
It will sell more than PS4.I actually think 90 might be tight, (keep it bookmatked) they are going to lose a lot of ground they took last gen.
Well in 7 or 8 years we will see, right now we have a 50/50 of being right. It will sell more than PS4.
You can bookmark that.
You’re right, 8.5 is being too generous. It’s gen 8:
“The eighth generation of video game consoles began in 2012, and consists of four home video game consoles: the Wii U released in 2012, the PlayStation 4 family in 2013, the Xbox One family in 2013, and the Nintendo Switch family in 2017.”
This is complete bullshit. How can two Nintendo "Home" Consoles, the Wii U and Switch, be part of the same generation? The Switch is the successor to the Wii U, so it can't be part of the same generation.
Use your brain. Don't blindly trust every Wikipedia article.
By that logic, you might as well say that you and your parents are the same generation... Which would be equally nonsensical.
Sony and MS only had one kid each that generation.
You mean the "Pro" Versions?
Deflection - reality Ok buddyWell, well what? What decision?
That Nintendo wanted to launch the Switch on March instead on holidays?
What kind of deflection is this...
PS5 fastest ever console to 10m with the highest continuing demand - mental gymnastics or otherwise.Everything about this post is ridiculous and also nice projection with the cope
- Switch is going to pass PS5 launch alligned launch sales this month
- Switch is selling faster than any Sony console in history after 76 months
- Switch is destroying PS5 in software sales. It has an install base of close to 100 million.
The reality is launch date doesn't matter. What matters is comparing launch sales at least on set spectrum when it is fair to compare them, like in the exact one year.Deflection - reality Ok buddy
Yes it is fair when Nintendo "wins" .The reality is launch date doesn't matter. What matters is comparing launch sales at least on set spectrum when it is fair to compare them, like in the exact one year.
And there's you here comparing it based on your step stone. Nintendo always made a killing on hardware sales every year (Switch around 3-5m) on holidays and you effectively ignore that.
Though since you love so much that notion, ignoring the reality then go on. Keep deflecting.
I’m just so confused by the last couple of pages of this thread. The whole premise of it is based on the fact that when the tenth month sales of both systems are added, Switch will regain its title as the fastest selling console in North America. It sold 1.5 million units in its first December. The argument that you’re presenting here - look at yearly data instead of monthly due to differing launch months - will be embraced next month by everyone who is rejecting it now.The reality is launch date doesn't matter. What matters is comparing launch sales at least on set spectrum when it is fair to compare them, like in the exact one year.

PS5 is the most popular and sought-after gaming device in the world and sells so well they can't meet the demand.Switch will sell more units than PS5, just deal with it.
Shame the same can't be said on the games released for it.PS5 is the most popular and sought-after gaming device in the world and sells so well they can't meet the demand.
Deal with it.
Deflecting ehShame the same can't be said on the games released for it.
Deflecting what, it's a fact. When was the last time a next gen release came out and it sold so well that it totally sold out all it's copies?Deflecting eh

Oh of course, people just buy consoles to sit there they obviously don't buy games for them as well.Irrelevant
Thread is about hardware sales.Oh of course, people just buy consoles to sit there they obviously don't buy games for them as well.
lol ok.
Hardware & software are linked, nobody buys a console just to have one it's because of the games.Thread is about hardware sales.
Reading comprehension issue?Hardware & software are linked, nobody buys a console just to have one it's because of the games.
Games don't sell out any more because they're faster and cheaper to produce because of optical media. There can be more than enough produced to meet demand. It's been like that for more than a decade. I personally haven't seen a game sell out since the start of the PS360 generation, but I guess it could still happen in isolated instances.Deflecting what, it's a fact. When was the last time a next gen release came out and it sold so well that it totally sold out all it's copies?
Miles Morales a definite flop tbf.Deflecting what, it's a fact. When was the last time a next gen release came out and it sold so well that it totally sold out all it's copies?
Because they booked up a lot of AMD's wafer capacity at TSMC. Its why Ryzen and Radeon parts are so goddamn scarce. These are all valid points but it really makes you wonder how severe the chip shortages really are when Sony was able to produce more PS5's than any console in history up until this point in its launch phase.
Nobody cares.PS5 fastest ever console to 10m with the highest continuing demand - mental gymnastics or otherwise.
You literally can't know that.Switch nowhere close to software sales of the PS4.
Half of those sales were as a standalone DVD playerSwitch nowhere close to the 155m sold of the console king - PS2.
Shouldn't you'd be trolling the Demon Souls or Returnal threads - get yourself another banNobody cares.

That's using worldwide shipments though. Switch is noticeably stronger in North America than it is in Europe and some emerging markets so I think it has a better chance of tracking with PS5 in the US than it does globally. I think we'll see what we saw with Switch/PS4 where the leader keeps switching depending on who has the most holidays.I was doing some maths… of course there is no US projection so it is impossible to draw a better picture.
But PS5 is projected to have over 22 million units shipped at the end of FY in March 31, 2022.
22m vs 17.79m of Switch.
Next FY related Switch could not ship enough units so it reached only around 17 million or so.
In conclusion the first 3 years Switch won’t have any chance to track with PS5 sales… and the gap will be not small (way over 5 million)… after that we have to wait how PS5 will do compared with late Switch years.
It will be a repeat of the Switch/PS4 comps for the first three or four years, with the console having the most recent launch-aligned holiday season being ahead in the comps. Fiscal year comps will favor Sony until at least Year Four, with PS5 having five months of sales in their first fiscal year and Switch having only one month.I was doing some maths… of course there is no US projection so it is impossible to draw a better picture.

PS2 had a software attach rate of 9.81, the highest of any PlayStation to date. So even if some people bought it as a DVD player, software sales indicate it was primarily purchased as a video game console.Link that half the number one gaming "console" in gamings history sales were for the DVD player or are you going to continue to troll Playstation?
This is only assuming Sony can actually meet their targets. PS4 was never able to sell more than 20 million in a fiscal year. Switch is already millions ahead of PS5 after the first fiscal quarter of this year alone.I was doing some maths… of course there is no US projection so it is impossible to draw a better picture.

No offence but it either seems like you're trolling, or that everyone else in this discussion is sitting at the big boys table bringing something to the discussion while you flick the straw from your juice box at us continually repeating the same lines like "You can't find a PS5 anywhere! Deal with it!"PS5 is the most popular and sought-after gaming device in the world and sells so well they can't meet the demand.
Deal with it.
