What time is it?
I hope this guy doesn't have any aspirations of ever working anywhere other than the FTC. Because it ain't happening.

Don't be so harsh.

“More consumers” etc but the point is that MS isn’t the one that gets to pick winners and losers. They can’t get away from this argument.

The FTC's doing much better on cloud arguments than the console ones.

EDIT: Bringing up good points that MS conveniently offered no contracts on cloud for Google and Amazon.

Cloud is an easier angle both because MS is easily the leader in the market and because harm will happen almost immediately the acquisition closes - ABK content will immediately come to MS cloud and be excluded from appearing on the largest cloud competitors in the US.

GFN has their deal - but that is an additional sub for B2P when a GPU sub gets that content and cloud access bundled.

Like every other publisher?

you think SE puts their shit on Sony first because they like Sony?
They do it because they can make money.

when they put it on another console- they also make money lol.

Those 10-year deals give Microsoft ample room to walk. And they get to keep ALL the money made. Not the typical 70/30 split. They keep 100%. That is not typical and if those are the kind of deals you're talking about, you're a fool for believing that is normal or a deal Sony shouldn't have turned down

Well yeah, kinda hard to remove a game already out. And why didn't they despite Spencer wanting to when he can make that call?
but minecraft dungeons and heroes were made long after that aquisition...... you might find it hard to believe but maybe they actually wanted to continue to keep minecraft's fanbase as one unified thing regardless of platform and keep games set in that world, as multiplatform to keep that player base together? its perfectly plausible.

The obvious reason Sony doesn't do Day 1 for their games on PS+ is because it's not financially feasible for their business model.

MS can tank the losses in B2P sales revenue left on the table with Day 1 Game Pass access, and even they are (rightfully) shifting away from that with the early access for FH5 and now Starfield.

Sure.

But i dont think Nintendo, Nvidia and who ever else would sign something if this deal was not giving them some additional benefit. But you are absoloutely right- for all we know ms makes all the money. I dont think that Nintendo 4x larger player base would suffer. Based on this- everyone is getting something out of the deal.

Seems like a win- win again.

Seems Sony is just unhappy at the thought they wont make as much money- or that MS will get a piece of the pie when people but it on PS- at least for 10 years.
