Obi-Wan Kenobi |OT| Hello there…

As I said above love the show but one thing that’s bugging me and I hope they resolve is Bail Organa. Like how has Bail Organa NOT been arrested for treason and Alderaan not been blockaded until Obi Wan returns with Leia at this point? Why visit the Jedi Underground Railroad again with Lola and not just hyperspace Leia back to Alderaan stat?? Would be somewhat awesome if Bail heel turns like Lando to save Leia by making a deal with Vader and we get a scene like ESB of Obi Wan returning to Alderaan getting told that Bail has just made a deal to keep the empire off Alderaan permanently on Obi’s way to dinner only to find Vader in the palace dining room with IDK fucking Boba Fett waiting for him.
I have to believe Vader thinks Obi-Wan is dead when the show ends. Short of that I don't see how Bail or Leia survives. Bail is not important enough for Emperor to keep Vader leashed from going after him if Vader is convinced he is key to finding Obi-Wan.

Yeah with them expanding it to a season 2 who knows but it’s a little odd to let Bail live another 10 years and then blow his planet up with him on it. Unless Vader doesn’t know Leia was kidnapped or the rest of the plan which seems a little hard to believe at this point since all the Inquisitors know. But then again the PT set it up for him to be on Tatooine w Luke for 20 years and no one figured it out so it’s not that glaring a flaw.

I heard in rebels which takes place years after this, he's still looking for Obi-Wan. Though I don't know if that's true.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
Why? Does she suck less in these later episodes?

She was mostly OK in ep3, and perfectly adequate, even good in a few moments, in ep4. But yes, I question why they would give her a spin-off. She's easily the worst actor in the entire show. She's not even as interesting as the other inquisitor with the weird hat.

This episode was better. But the little girl is still bad. Reva is still bad. The overall story is bad. I did like the action in this episode. My kids enjoy it.

Tag, you're it.
Are they planning some Jedi fights in their series about... you know... a Jedi Master facing Inquisitors?

Also, Obi-Wan running away (2 times ffs) like a little chicken wasn't something I needed

I know he's not the same, he is in pain blablabla.... the result is just boring as hell. Please can Lucasfilm/Disney do something GOOD in live action with the Jedi for once?

This series is really underwhelming so far, and with only 2 episodes left I'm afraid it's gonna stay a boring first season.

All my friends are on the "Disney is making heroes look like pussies for (pick your reason, I won't)...."

I always say Michael Jordan himself wasn't MJ out of retirement. It's takes some time to get back into game shape.

However we all know this ends with this him being a hermit and hiding so we'll see where they go with this.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
just finished EP3. Why didn't vader just walk through the fire? Why is this show's production quality and overall camera and editing direction so bad? This show feels super cheap, yet Disney has tons of money to throw at it.
Health and Safety department wouldn’t let him.

They're breaking down Obi-Wan to built him back up by the end. Just trust Disney on that. :messenger_winking_tongue:

I actually really like Reva. Thought I was going to hate her but I think she comes off pretty menacing, doesnt say much and isn’t annoying, gets the job done quite well imo.

But there are too many other characters that deserve a spin off series before her so, can’t say I’d be very excited about it.

She could have been an excellent character in this to be honest, but you'd need excellent writers to make it so

What we got is just some hammy bullshit.

eh, it has issues that deserve criticism, but its being way over exaggerated simply bc its SW (as always).

you never hear any of the positives from the people who hate it so much either. its "all bad, all negative, nothing good about it, worst show ever" lol. please... there are good things about it and i think reva and her a actress are one of them. ewan is good. i like the little girl. Christensen as vader is really selling it. there is some decent CG, the soundtrack is solid, the locations and sets are really interesting and detailed, and more.

like ive said before, i want to be entertained and im not searching every frame for inconsistencies and flaws. and although its fun to jump on the hate train sometimes, SW has received so much over blown hate over the years that even i cant have fun with that anymore.

it has issues, big time! no doubt, but its also doing some things right, and i dont see any of the haters in here giving it credit for that. almost like they dont want to be entertained, like they are just here to pick apart every frame and find reasons to hate it

And direction. I’m no goddamn Kubrick, but even I could see the directing has been all over the place and amateurish in parts. Given her work was top-notch in Mando, I’m assuming Deborah Chow and her team simply didn’t have enough time.

Zombie inquisitor Han from fast and serious should get different hats, think of the merchandising money with the action figures.

It doesn’t have the weight or presence that something Star Wars should have.

It’s like a Saturday morning cartoon but in live action, this series should have been animation like the other kids shows.

I mean that’s what I thought at the beginning, oh they’re just doing the hero’s journey thing, he’s gotta refuse the call but he’ll become cool later. Now it seems like another classic character snuff film, just gotta drag him through the mud first.

I want to be entertained Kev, I really do, I think a lot of the hate comes from comparing this series to the excellent previous 2 that didn’t crap on the characters we love. Glad people are finding enjoyment in it, the mandalorian reignited my excitement for Star Wars but this is pissing on that flame. 😔

I don't get the hate for Reva, because at the end of the day she is not what is wrong with this show. It is the bad fucking writing and directing. This latest episode was damn near a comedy with Reva haplessly trying to interrogate a 10 year old, and when that did not work deciding to then torture shit out her in special empty torture room. No actor could have saved that, except maybe Samuel L. Jackson.

Also, I would even make the argument Reva is probably the best thing about the show as she actually comes off as a genuine villain you can hate in a world where folks love their Star Wars villain's, and it sucks that you can see a predictable redeeming arc coming for her rather than keeping her on the dark side until her end.

The series is not bad but I have two gripes with it:

1. As someone mentioned the action sequences are LOL, it’s jarring in the very first episode when they try to catch the girl.
2. The future is incredibly generic Blade Runner 2049, bright neons, sharp edges future. Star Wars was always for me something innovative, but here it’s boring AF.

ya its probably because cyberpunk is supposed to be dystopian and gritty, but because its disney/starwars they can't do that so you just the superficial aesthetic

Does Reva get better? So far she's just written as Angry Black Woman obsessed with her job. Like is there a genuine reason she hates Obi-wan apart from it's a job?

My take:
Obi Wan finally encounters Darth Vader and his presence alone overwhelms Kenobi with fear. Vader speaks to him with callous intent. Kenobi, who is not ready for such an encounter nor being fully in tune with the force, decides to try and flee. He uses a little bit of force speed to quickly run behind a nearby hill, forcing Vader to have to temporarily search for him. Vader, seeing this, decides to boast as he feels he has the upper hand. Vader knows exactly where Kenobi is due to their connection and quickly strikes from a blind spot. Kenobi barely manages to block the lightsaber as it slightly manages to burn part of his attire. This gives Vader an idea.

The battle commences and Vader is overpowering a beaten and out of shape Obi Wan with relative ease. He decides to toy with his prey by forcing a container with flammable material to spill over, then he quickly stops Obi Wan with a force grip, set the flammable material ablaze, and slam Obi Wan on his side into it as his guards approach the scene. Right as this happens, the spy who was helping Obi Wan is perched on top of a cliff far away with a sniper rifle. She notices that another container with explosive materials right next to Vader's position. She decides to take the shot as Obi Wan could not last another second in such pain. The explosion takes out the stormtroopers and it causes Vader to temporarily let go of Obi Wan to try and shield himself from the blast in that split second. However, the concussive explosion still manages to knock him back.

While he is staggered and trying to recover, he sees in his blurred vision that the helper robot has already loaded Kenobi onto a speeder and is getting away. Vader tries to stop them with the force but in the split second he reaches his hand out he notices a blaster bolt heading towards his head. It was the sniper trying to capitalize on the moment to take him out. He quickly chooses to stop the bolt instead, and Obi Wan manages to get away, burned, beaten, but barely still alive.

Scene writer: Obi Wan is overwhelmed by Vader's presence. He sees the red lightsaber light up and decides it would be better to run. He runs behind a nearby hill and decides to keep taking steps back cautiously as Vader can strike at any time. Vader catches up to him(?) and attempts to strike from behind but it's blocked by Kenobi. They have a short duel and then Vader notices flammable material, spills it out in front of them, lights it, and force grips kenobi to slam him into the fire. Kenobi is slowly being burned alive for a while(?) as Anakin reminds him of his past pain. His troops arrive and Vader decides to use the force to remove the flames. Now that Obi Wan is subdued, he can send a stormtrooper to go capture him. Perched on a nearby hill(?) is the rebel spy who helped Obi Wan earlier. She decides to take aim at the stormtrooper capturing Obi Wan, shoot him, then shoot an explosive barrel nearby. Obi Wan is then picked up by the service droid and dragged away(?) beaten, bruised, and burned, while Vader stares at this through the flames(?) in anger.

My question marks are there to point out things that don't make sense. I'm sure even my writing has some issues, but that's the point of having backup writers and people to help question things(instead of suits and yes men) so that these moments don't end up so badly written.

Is it EU? Then it’s not canon.

I think what SW needs at this point is a Casino Royale-level reboot.
The video says it's Disney canon and Wookipedia also lists it as canon that Baylo was an officer of the Defiance Flight Training Institute. Rea Sloane is also listed as a canon character there.

Everything in this show is just bad.

The fighting scenes
The acting between actors
No charisma from the lead and other actors.
The kid is clearly larping to be yoda from mandalorian, and the girl from game of thrones but fails miserable at it, can't blame her tho because age.
Script is bad
Not much logic in the story.

I'm in the "I can see that she's acting and I don't buy her character" camp. She reminds me of some of those bad actors in TV series from the 80s and 90s that take you out of the realism of the series' inner world whenever they're on screen.

It's stupid that the actor got racist abuse. It's got nothing to do with how she looks and everything to do with how she portrays the character.

Two episodes left.....any guesses as to what crapola awaits us this week? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Rupert Friend was recently on Jimmy Kimmel and wouldnt say whether he's gone for good, so that all but confirms the Grand Inquisitor will be back before the end, hopefully to royally fuck over Reva's character and get her killed by Vader.

But then you have the angle (which i also believe) that is that Reva is actually trying to get close to Vader to attempt to kill him since she is a Jedi Youngling that survived Anakin's purge at the temple. That combined with this show being approved for a season 2, now i dont know what to think. If it wasnt for that last part, im sure that Reva wouldve been killed by Vader by the end of the 6 episodes
