That's bizarre, I was on last night (though did nothing besides idle in lobby and run time attacks) and got on just fine this morning.
Yeah, I've absolutely no idea of what's going on. Got an e-mail too, but it's the generic kinf of thing. We identified you violated our TOS, account is locked temporarily, if it happens again we might have to take action etc.
Mail got here at 2:29, that was roughly 30m after the last TD3 run ended, and I was still online, I guess. But the run didn't go poorly, and outside of the party, I didn't say anything, so... I wonder what went on.

Ban did lift after 24 hours, but the message I got once I logged in again was gold. Basically saying 'hey, don't do <whatever you did> again, but don't ask us what it was either cause we weon't reply, very busy!'.

Those ought to still be fine. If you can connect to pso2.jp with no problems then you don't have to worry about VPN stuff. You can download the game off Sega's official website or download the PSO2 tweaker and have it download the whole game for you. Tweaker will also handle patching for you.

I played the PS4 version of PSO2 today and yep, it's still good old PSO2.
I was also able to talk with Sakai-san, who said that indeed, the PS4 version looks better than the PC one. When asked, if the PC version will get an engine update, he smiled and said "maybe".

I hope they fix the weapon switch frame skipping by then. No amount of making the game prettier will matter when it still chugs the same way as it does now.

It still amazes me how much content they are able to put out.
The sad thing is that most of the new content is very limited, that is, quests that can only happen at random times of the day, or scheduled to Japanese peak times.
This past year they've been focusing way too much on Emergency Quests and other multi-party (12 players) based quests (Challenge Quests, Ultimate Quests, Limited Quests), game's very lacking when it comes to pick and play friendly single party (4 players) quests (the currently available 4 players quests have unnecessary limitations, items requirements to start those quests, and quests that don't allow players to join while in progress, which is very annoying when someone in the party is disconnected).

They've basically been applying a steady stream month long band-aids in desperate attempts to cover up the game's problems, the same problems the game has been having since it's launch. Every update just adds another temporary distraction from the ever growing monotony.
There's nothing to do, nothing to work towards other than just making your numbers higher. There's no difference in content available to a level 1 player and a level 75 player (aside from 2 Ult maps for you to run endless circles in that nobody even plays anymore) and it's rather frustrating. Even Destiny had a raid as a sort of goal to work towards. PSO2's core gameplay loop is fun and great but it's baffling how little real variety there is when not in an EQ. I love this game, but goddamn it has way too many problems for it's own good. I could go on for paragraphs but I'll refrain from doing so.
I eagerly await gathering 300 EQ specific rocks (which will continue to fill my storage) and miraculously finding the EQ specific 13* I need multiple times so that I can make a (1) new best weapon. Until then I've got nothing but TACOs waiting for me. I don't even have a reason to be idling around for EQs anymore.

It still is, but now its focused increasing your cosplay wardrobe and getting your old dress in new, hot colors. We can finally be the Nep we've always wanted to become.

I can still count the amount of 12 stars that have dropped for me and 13 stars with one hand.
12 Star Weapons - 3. One Evil Rod from Magatsu, and one Summit Moon from TD3 XH. One pair of Quna Boots that finally dropped. A shame it was 2 months-ish late cause I had to buy mine from a player store.
13 Star Weapons - 0 Never ever seen em.
I swear the Atari ID thing is real.

Here's a tree. You can move around some Killing bonus or Moving snipe points if you want other stuff. On Hu sub you can add S-atk if you want to equip stronger partisans, but the class bonuses should cover most things you want. Cap Iron will if you want, some other stuff too. Important part of Hu sub is fury stance anyways.
I think the titles just look at your weapon catalog and trigger based on number of different rare drops of each type.

The Arks level seems to be more for the level of broken upgrade everyone gets. Sort of like what happens during Magatsu, but on a ship-wide scale. My character can even break 2000 HP at level 3! Quite novel when I normally run with about 750 unbuffed.
So Games Done Quick is on my mind with registrations starting soon, and I don't think I ever aired this idea out: would it be practical to get a team together to run PSO and PSO2 challenge mode for the summer marathon?

Probably not PSO2 because it requires a dedicated internet connection. I believe all of PSO1 C-mode is offline on GCN EP1&2+ so that would be a possibility.

Do they really restrict the marathon to games that can be run offline? That seems like a dated stance to me.

It's more that the venue has typical awful hotel internet, so they don't want to take any bandwidth away from the stream. Plus can you imagine DCing in the middle of a run?
I think they've run online games before, it's just something that will give them an easy reason to reject your run.

Yeah, and runs for PSO2's Cmode would be pretty reliant on having a good internet connection. You'd also need 4+ people for CM1 to not take forever. Also the moment the internet starts to drop, the whole run can be ruined.
PSO1's as a 4 player run would work better but some of those Cmode quests are really long. Like a TA of 1C2 is 18minutes or 2C1 is 34 minutes. Either of the two episode would probably take around 2 hours and I don't know how interesting it would be to watch from the entertainment standpoint of a GDQ. Though more boring games have gotten 2hour time slots so who knows.

I think the novelty of a 4p co-op speedrun works in the game's favor, so there's that at least.

Also, my teammates got me to do those two Zeig COs that make everything drop unidentified and man does it take forever to clean up after an EM now

an Ofstia rod is not significantly stronger than Ares.
Gonna need them cubes for those all those 40% affix boosters.

Not to mention how much money it surprisingly adds up just to identify everything. I really didn't notice until I got the charms myself and just watched it all happen. Still, getting those items was the right thing to do.
I got a Chainsaw sword today from PSO2es. That was pretty cool. Still haven't even seen a 13 star item myself. I think this is like .. my third 12 star drop in general now. Thanks ES.

Not happening. Maybe when they get their reasons down. I still stand by the fact Sega of America took one glance at B-20 and went lolnope once porn symbol art and stuff got spammed by the 'unique' community that came in from overseas. Barrens chat got nothing on this game's B-20/B-1 community.
Seriously. Just play the JP release with patches. They're okay for the most part and the important stuff. It's not hard, you'll get a constant updated experience and fact is there's really nothing wrong other then some flavor text not translated and -maybe- some later Episode 3 story stuff. I haven't checked in awhile on it.
Anything specific you want / need help / or want a better understanding with?

Should be pretty simple to do COs. You need to turn in the COs to the respective people after you have completed them. I assume you are trying to do that from the menu which will only allow you to abandon them there.

Early starting out I recommend sticking to a lot of Koffee's quests and unlocking areas (Which in turn will unlock more quests / new areas etc.) Generally her stuff is high priority in my opinion with stuff like sub class unlocking, level cap removals etc.
Focus on learning the enemies, the bosses, getting a feel for things until you feel really comfortable. Just learning how to play and how to do it better then before is a very big thing. I still laugh considering how bad I was back in beta, compared to how I am now.
Your mag is pretty important and if you mess it up too much, your options are going to be: Spend 50 excubes per misdone level, buy a brand new mag for 300 AC (or maybe 500.. been awhile) (Real money), or remake the character (Always an option since low level stuff goes fast and anything you have you can just stick in storage like items or meseta since everything's account bound.)
The meta of the game suggests to pick a stat out of S-ATK (For melee types), R-ATK (Ranged Types) or T-ATK (Technic / Caster types) and go from there. Just focus on the single atk-up stat and lower the stuff. Again, it's not something you have to focus on right away, and you can change class at anytime to try them out / see how they play before making a decision.
Same with skill builds. Since Sega rarely gives out free skill reset passes, as a new player you may not have them stockpiled like others may.. and there's a lot of traps / stuff that isn't good. So we can help / explain to why you pick certain things etc.

Unlocking the mag, unlocking new areas, unlocking higher difficulty modes, all of that is done through client orders, most of them through the NPC named Koffie in the quest counter in the right side:I'm doing the quests you get from the counter lady. When she has client orders for you to start, there'll be a blue icon above her name, and once you finish a client order, the icon will be green instead, which indicates that you have a client order to deliver.
Client Orders are usually simple, they're stuff like complete X quest, defeat X enemy, find X item (when it comes to client orders for area unlocking, the required items are drops from the enemies native to the planet where you're playing), and so on.
You can check your active client orders list in the main menu, globe icon, client orders.
If you don't have any client order from Koffie available yet, just gotta play a few quests from the Arks Quests section.
For area unlocking, the Arks Quests section and the Free Fields section are the most important.

Yeah, you have to talk to them again once you are down with the CO. Look for it in their list and click to turn it in. As for the group, I'm not even sure if it's still up at all. I remember just about all of us bailing and going to different teams. If you need help you can add me and I can help when I'm on if you'd like

I made a post a while ago with some tips for starters. Its still accurate, only thing is crafting is more useful now than it was then. Either way, the crafting system isn't really something you should worry about this early on. Once you get a better grasp on the game it could be worth looking into.
