Shooting games with the best gunplay?

Hey GAF! Was wondering which shooting games have the best gunplay? So far, I have a hard time feeling like anything's surpassed the gunplay in The Evil Within. It's so incredible and satisfying! The partial headshot/headshot system is perfect for a survival horror game. When you do land a headshot, it's meaty and explosive, and it really feels like the bullet pierced through the head. Those are some of the reasons why I think TEW has the best gunplay (so far). But I know there's many shooting games out there, so that's why I ask, which shooting games have the best gunplay, GAF?

CS 1.6 for the sheer difficulty of recoil control creating the high skill ceiling needed to be good. Not to mention it was pretty revolutionary at the time and a big departure from arena shooters.

OP, if you like hit reactions and TPS going by your TEW mention, checkout TLoU2's combat. There is some crazy and nasty shit in there. If you miss a headshot for the throat for example, you'll get enemies drowning in their blood.
Stopping power of weapons has a visual effect as well, you don't only get your movement halted but you get thrown in the floor and unlike in the first game you have some options from there, like aiming or dodging.

Unreal Tournament 3. No loadouts, no level ups, no reloading, no attachments, no bars that fill, no hit markers. Also, Shock Rifle.

Honestly, I feel like The Gears of War games are some of the best third person cover shooters I have ever played. Incredibly satisfying gameplay all around and fun as all hell. Getting headshots with the Boltok just feels awesome

FPS: Destiny. The mechanics surrounding it you may love or hate, but there's no denying Bungie are still the king of making moving and shooting feel good in first person.
TPS: The Division 2. The raw act of moving and shooting is still the best TPS gunplay around that holds up after literally thousands of hours. Gears has a habit of feeling light, whereas Division 2 has weight without sacrificing responsiveness.

Honourable mentions:
Halo. Impaired by the inclusion of abilities in Halo 5, the base mechanics are still absolutely rock solid.
Vanquish. Enhanced mobility in third person.
Titanfall 2. What it lacks in weight it makes up for in sheer speed.
Doom 2016. One word: meaty.

Definitely Destiny. I don't like the game itself, but the gunplay is great. I'd say Apex is another really good one.

For TPS I'll go with Gears 5, most recently TLOU2 surprised me with how good it felt though (especially since TLOU1 had pretty mediocre gameplay).

I enjoyed Titanfall 2, human and mech gunplay.
Max Payne 3, I play it annually as it's so satisfying shooting in bullet time.

The Last of Us Part II. Best combat in a third person shooter to date

whenever i read something like this I wonder... is this bait? did this person never play any other game with guns?

like xD wtf?

but to go back on topic, Apex Legends is absolute S Tier, as is Titanfall 2.

Doom 2016 and Eternal are great...

going back a bit further we got Max Payne 2 which, if played again and again, basically becomes a dance with your enemies or choreographed movie where you try to beat encounters in cooler and cooler looking ways.

Resident Evil 4 is pretty great, but due to its arcady-ness is very different from the other examples

Well let's see, out of the games you listed I've played Titanfall 2, Doom 2016, and Max Payne 2

TLOU Part II is at the top of the hill combat-wise, even if you dislike the story (I don't)

Give me the slower paced and more realistic tactical shooters like Operation Flashpoint CWC/Arma, Hidden & Dangerous series, R6 Og/Rogue Spear/Raven Shield, og Ghost Recon, SWAT 3/4...

OR the off the wall crazyness of stuff Doom 1/2, Duke 3D, Blood, og Shadow Warrior, Dusk..

Not a big fan of the 'in between' stuff.
