Are these women REALLY better off living this way as opposed to their grandmothers who were married and taking care of families at their age?

Nothing is her fault, no one ever told her anything, she didn't know so she isn't to blame......Take some responsibility for your actions. Using a computer but unable to use a computer to find out information.

Or…find a spouse who can provide those benefits. My sister was third in her class in law school. This is from a prestige law school in our state and she passed the BAR for two states. She knew what to do, but she never worked. It’s been over a decade and she has no plans to work. She had kids and decided to home school.
I don’t know what’s more irritating. I work with lawyers as clients. They make a good living. It’s her life, but it also irritates me. She has no 401k, no savings, and multiple children.

Both situations are irritating. These women haven’t settled down yet. Their ignorance could possibly be cleared in a day or two.

If she is happy it shouldn't bother you. She chose family over career. they are not mutually exclusive, but that is what she decided to do.

I was homeschooled and my mom was brilliant. It made me a much better person. I think what your sister is doing is admirable. If she has a ton of school debt that has got to suck though.

To be fair, Ludvigs wife/gf whatever the fuck she is, is pretty fucking dumb and very attention seeking. I've seen a lot of drama from her but thats what feeds them money, their stupidity.

At a time when information has never been more free and available in the literal palm of your hand… this happens.

I don’t get it at all.

How can people not figure out the most basic of things? If it isn’t instantly given to them, so zero effort, they are out.

I couldn’t live that way

Her parents are completely to blame here tbh, they raised a moron and then set said moron loose on the world, parents are probably morons tbf
No. After a certain point everyone needs to take responsibility. She's grown. Life isn't that hard when you're that attractive. She has all the time in the world to figure things out. She even has a smartphone that could tell her exactly how to get insurance. The entire knowledge of the world is at her fingertips.

There is an age of accountability where people must take responsibility for their actions and decisions. What they know and what they don't know.

She may also be a special kind of dumb here.
My sister and I had the same great parents and environment to grow up in with every opportunity, and I am constantly surprised at how dumb her choices and actions are. We received the same training!!!

As parents we have to ensure our kids are equipped with the knowledge and skills to survive in the modern world, to know what they need and how to find it and not to be a moron, if you fail at that you let a moron loose on the world without a clue on how to navigate it or even make sense of it, yeah she may be an adult but she's got the world sense of a child

I don't know how it is in other countries, but the US does a piss-poor job of preparing young adults for real life. I don't believe that's changed since I went to school eons ago (if this video is any indication it hasn't), but there should be mandatory real-life stuff being taught - money management, life skills, taxes, etc.

I had several classes in school that taught many of those things. And that's still not an excuse. She has a phone. She's just lazy.

The idea that you think it is free shows you lack a solid education. A better way to put it, would be, "tax payer funded".
Sure, but it's still pretty sweet that health and education are included in the tax like that. It's bizarre that the U.S. hasn't done this yet.

With my education, I had to pay the tuition per semester and buy the books, but I took a 5-year master's degree for a total of about 1k. Not gonna complain.

Presuming sincerity, the blame doesn't lie solely with her. Yes, she can Google, but the values weren't instilled in her from a young age and that's not her fault. An easy life relying on others who support/maintain/encourage that will allow you to live in complacency and not learn the skills you lack.

Tl;dr needs must

It is not free, everyone knows taxes go towards it. The difference is in philosophical choice of “fuck you, go die” vs. “everybody is in this together”.

That's kind of messed up man. She's doing the most noble and amazing thing a woman can do in the world and you're shitting on her for it?

She went to culinary school instead of "normal" college and apparently is friends with high-income streamers.

These people live in their own world.

she technically doesn’t know I even think this, but I also have a right to my own opinion.

She sends gift cards for the kids, but we haven’t talked to each other in 7 years and she lives in the same town. I get updates from my mom. My sister and I don’t talk because they don’t like my wife. They didn’t even go to my wedding, which was in town. I helped babysit her kids while she took the BAR.

Why is having a negative thought about a person assume that they’re always striving for the greater good? That’s assuming everyone is always doing the best they can and there’s no room for I don’t know… some financial backbone if someday her and her husband ever split.

Until Obama care came about it, getting private health insurance was indeed a total bitch. But nowadays it's easy.

We have the same in Poland. We teach young people pathos, morality, awareness for all historical wrongs done to us. We don't teach them to think, but we tell them what to think. We create morons, emotionally driven morons. It is easier to control people drowned in emotions than those endowed with practical, common sense thinking.

Thanks to this, our policy can sustain itself on the propaganda of success alone. :pie_invert:

It is truly terrifying how far we have taken a step backwards after the fall of socialism, instead of taking advantage of this moment and passing our experiences to the next generations, we have incapacitated them through our own ignorance.

From parents who either always "know better" or aren't interested at all, through schools that have no mission or sense of responsibility for the future of growing up youth, to a political system that rewards naivety and stupidity - all our achievements in rebuilding state structures and accepting of appropriate social attitudes has been largely wasted.

I dunno, I don't think I can hate. I don't think there is a lot of guidance being given to people on a lot of important stuff. Yes, she should take responsibility and learn these things. But damn if it wouldn't be awesome to have had parents to tell you about personal finance, investing, getting insurance, and all sorts of stuff.

I'm sorry you don't have a great relationship with your siblings. I understand that, I was down that road myself for a long time. I hope one day you can come to an understanding together.
