vtubers?

You can try and run but you cannot hide, that hole is going to find you

Gura seemed to have the most fun during the stream

Calli had the least fun she died early for most of the games

Watson is made for this

Polka was my surprise MVP I have not paid her much attention until this stream now it makes me wonder how many more charming moments I have missed

The part where she tries to get Ame to vote for Nene while she was sus won me over. But then she made all these posts on twitter. These girls really don't know the meaning of sleep. I can see why these idol agencies don't allow the girls to get into relationships.

I'm ashamed to say I am a member of all of EN crew right now and I am late to watch a movie with Ame. Watching movies with a vtuber sounds really stupid until you try it.

I recommend Gura, Ame, or Kiara for those... Ina has some movie streams but she did not talk much at all during the movie.

The EN girls have good taste in movies. I watched Color out of Space with Ina and I heard Gura watched Carpenter's The Thing. Was fun watching her gasp at the body horror and chat losing their mind.

good thing is most of those member streams are live for the public now so if you miss the live you can still go back and watch,

Gura x Ghostbusters was very cool

Ame x John Wick really fits her she had that bloodlust

I'll give you guys 3 months before this thread turns into an Official Hololive OT

Ame really loves this move called The Hunt for the Wilderpeople (New Zealand)

this movie brings out a strange side of Ame, I think Gura would gag to watch it or cry because she can't even sing an Elvis song without crying. So who knows, might have to vote for that in her next movie stream.

Is this because these chicks are ugly in real life and wouldn't become popular otherwise?

Let's have more talk, I think your point is valid, the independent vtubers who do this alone can look like anything and we would never know.
But it would only take one ugly fat girl to break a Japanese Idol Management company. Those fans are scary stupid about that shit.

I wanted to take this question seriously for a bit, not to defend the girls and be more of a simp shrimp than I already am but I think I understand something that is closer to the truth by knowing a little about this anime cosplay culture and Japan than I needed to be useful.

I have two more possibilities for you. As someone who lives with a disease I was born with and can't hardly work as an artist and painter this would be a perfect job.

You can be a good looking girl but was born with a disease that limits the work you can do. I have watched one vTuber who is stuck on her bed most of the time (Ironmouse) I don't watch her because that shit is too depressing. But she is funny as fuck.

This is Miko, she just spent a few weeks in the hospital herself

that was her welcome back.

As soon as these girls get a the 3D version they do a lot of actice skits and dancing, doubt they are fat. Also Japan is kinda fucked up about beauty it is very difficult to find an ugly Voice Actress in Japan or many fat ones. JAV (porn) very difficult to find ugly girls doing that. The theme is ugly old men fucks cute young girls most of the time.

No ugly Idols hell no. Even the vtubers that have been exposed and retired have been good looking women.

So until we get news of fat ones and ugly ones, I would vote for they have health issues or very shy voice actors.

I think Amelia Watson might have some health issues, I hope not but just things she shared makes it seem that way.

Calli is very high profile right now I think she might get exposed or forced to quit by cancel culture. So we will know what she looks like unless Hololive is more careful about protecting her than the last one who got exposed.

The point is unlike an anime these are real people playing these roles and part of their lives are forced to be on stream because they hardly do anything else but stream.

Best place to get to know them is the member only chats though.

Calli talked about how she talks her contracts seriously, she is not the type to walk away from Hololive because some bigger offer came in. She was talking honestly like that.
is.

I don't trust a Japanese Idol management company not to fuck these people over but that does not mean they went out looking for ugly fat people.

hmmm this is sus.... Oh shit something clicked Ame was an orphan? Or got taken away from her parents after the locked in a hot car incident with the melted crayons

who tells stories like that for fun that is why she likes this movie

There are sites that have pretty much have some info on most of the major vtubers, japanese fan autism at work. I'm not gonna link cus it's borderline doxxing (nothing personal like real names, addresses or phone numbers but their online personalities when they were independent and before they joined the big companies like Hololive or Nijisanji and links to their old social media accounts and videos that may have face pics). For Hololive, one or two may be considered butterfaces but for the most part they're pretty average to not bad looking.

I'd say that vtubers are for talented people who have anxiety showing their faces in front of other people. It's also a great equalizer imo, all their vtuber avatars are drawn attractive so they actually need to have a personality and be entertaining to get and keep an audience. Let's be honest, there are a ton of twitch streamers, youtubers and onlyfan types that are boring as fuck but they're hot.

I don't know when Ame sleeps because I have been up 24hrs now and about to take some pills to help me sleep and this is the 3rd Stream I watched featuring her LIVE

I have heard of some of that being out there early on like GEN 1 Hololive really picked up already established vtubers who already started something.

thanks for not sharing the links to make the point, because I believe it does exist but as talented as some of these girls are and how hard they work at this shit I would rather not know what they look like anyway.

I Hololive auditions require proven track record for content distribution.
Guidelines
This audition is available for those who are able to confirm the following:
  • You must be able to deliver content continuously for at least one year.
  • You must be able to deliver content at least 3 times a week (content provided after getting home or on your days off while you're studying or working is fine).
  • You have a proven track record for content distribution (including, but not limited to, games, songs, and illustrations).
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
It's the same in nip. Their content delivery strategy is basically a how to succeed on youtube strategy. Collab and constant content delivery. And guess what, youtubers burn out. Some Hololive vtubers have dropped out or "graduated" as they like to call it, and I suspect it's the same reason, burnout.

If being behind an avatar lessens the burnout, maybe it's a good thing but I don't think it is. You're still having to read all the chat while doing other tasks, it'll burn you out quickly even if you're behind an avatar. So I don't think the "disabled person savior" narrative has much merit.

One of the common criticism toward Vtubing is that it's only doing what normal youtubers have been doing except it requires more effort and has more limitation, just for an "anime" veneer.
Take for example Hololive EN doing a snack review.

A streamer using real-world footage would have been able to give a snack review with far less effort, while giving the audience a better idea of what was being eaten, like being able to show the actual snack. Akai Haato's cooking show does use real world footage but it's basically toned down "HowtoBasic" in anime voice.

Where this extra effort might pay off is in selling their 2D/3D avatars as AR/VR products. Real world VR have exist for a while but it hasn't caught on because it may be nouveau for a while, but doesn't really beat the real experience. However, being in a virtual reality with an anime girl, that might be the game changer for a certain demographic of anime lovers.

With Oculus and PSVR searching for the killer VR content Hatsune Miku didn't quite cut it. I'm guessing it's because Hatsune Miku was still a "virtual singer" and didn't have a fully formed "virtual personality." A "virtual personality" can sing, dance, play games, do comedy skits, or just chat and shittalk.

Imagine you're Microsoft and you couldn't break into game streaming. You have hololense, and Xbox that can streams movies. What's going to differentiate FireTV and other countless devices that can stream movies with Xbox? Vtuber presence.

You enjoy the commentary of a particular vtuber? Sync a hololense with your XBox. You can now enjoy the watch along as if that vtuber is sitting next to you in your actual living room.

Have a full VR head set?
Kizuna Ai's group initially aimed at the VR path on a pay-per-view VR VOD site.
The VR environment is low res and uninteresting so unless you have interest in the vtuber, it's not really entertaining. But imagine a Hololive gamer like Korone Inugami in a VR stream, where you get to see her play a sponsored game sitting next to you. You get to see how she's moving the controller, her reaction to the gameplay, the flavor of the virtual Mountain Dew and Doritos she eats when taking a break to chat. When you throw a superchat she'll be able to recognize your presence for 10 seconds after which you'll get a 5min cooldown period before you can throw another superchat.

If that's too cringe, it could be like the Microsoft minecraft hololense demo where you get to see vtubers playing on a miniature 3D set. And when you throw a superchat... you get the point.

If Hololive are building up their talent's social capital and positioning them for success for a future AR/VR explosion, those talents joining hololive might be making a bet that their hard work pays off big time in the future.

If Hololive are just pursuing a "youtuber with an anime skin" strategy for the convenient "anime" ish merchandise, the talent are just working to get a paycheck now, which is going to accelerate burnout because not all of them are going to be making Coco like numbers day in day out.

They're all experienced in some way, Hololive doesn't take a chance on hiring randoms. Most of the Japanese ones are from either Nico Nico Douga or twitter streaming(?). For example Marine is very open that she is a professional manga artist, Choco-sensei unsurprisingly did ASMR, others are all a mix of vtubers, voice actresses, and singers.

For the Hololive English side, the online weeb community is small enough that all were recognized pretty quickly. Gura is the big one, lotsa people recognized her voice from an inactive channel with just under 1 million subs. I'm not shocked she is the first to 1 million subs, she almost did it as an independent, now she has Hololive behind her and her old fans found out her new gig. I'm certain everyone here has seen at least one of her videos. Ina is the same, her artwork is too good for some random tumblr or pixiv artist, she has to be a pro. And she is, people recognized her art from two huge japanese cell phone games what have community threads on gaf. Watson was identified through her hiccups, and lotsa people including me had a sneaking suspicion who Calli was as soon as she started rapping during her debut.

Gotta admit I prefer the more 2d models over the new 3d ones like Korone revealed today. Maybe they are better for streams where the character has to move and be fully in the shot, but otherwise 2d is better for me.

Never understood the autism behind wanting to know who these folks are in real life. Same thing with actors, artists, or musicians in general. I just want to enjoy the content they put out, however fake/planned it may be.

Gawr Gura could be a 60 year old man for all I care and I would still love the content all the same.

Okay although I would rather not know who EN they are my favorites and get me deeper into the rabbit hole

People have said this girl is one of the HololiveJP girls (rumor)

After checking out her ASMR work and her Hololive channel I guess I can see if you were a fan of the original you might want to know that she is a vtuber now and keep supporting her if the old channel is inactive or both are active

Calli speaks of being busy with other types of freelance work all the time.
I can see how Ame's HICs would out her but glad her fans are not being weird about it. She seems to have a lot of issues but stays cool.
Gura is pretty talented and deserves to take over Hololive only the fact that she can't fully speak Japanese has slowed her down. Kinda curious what her old channel was like just because I want to see if she sang any other songs.

senzawa the 'Okay Boomer' girl would kill it as a vtuber with Hololive behind her. ther channel has been silent since that video.

so yeah the detective thing can be interesting. I am just hoping that it takes me longer to find the spreadsheet with the facts and rumours lol

edit: Oops, I was just listening to some of her older videos and the other songs she did sounds a lot like the Shark. That would be a beautiful thing if that is her new gig

Chill , I don't think anyone other than the stalker types care about their real life info. I don't think it's weird to be curious about someone's earlier works or roles before they became famous, there are tv shows like "Before They Were Stars" that do exactly that.

For example Ina drew this in about 20 min on stream while chatting and interacting with her audience. I'm no expert but this screams professional-level artist along with her $2k+ tablet and drawing equipment. I don't think it's weird to be curious where she came from and wanting to see her other artwork. I don't care about her real name or whatever, I wanna know what other projects she has worked on.

I think Hololive this a very good job recruiting for EN
it is too bad CN failed because of shitty CCP crap those girls got hit hard

ID seems a little strange and not as polished as EN but EN does have a lot of technical difficulties I am sure they will get better over time

I'm dead serious it just hit me and I edited the post in shock. she has not real life photos so it is fine.

I was just reading your post and I was listening to Okay Boomer a few years ago, so when you said we all seen her videos it hit me that she has not been posting and in June her last twitter message was a lot of letters. She was super excited or super frustrated. I never followed her twitch account.

but reading your post I went back to her youtube senzawa being gura is happy news really "I want to be a cowboy" is Gura's voice no doubt about it.

senzawa not having photos of her face out in the open helps tho.

Not sure I want to know who Coco is but now really want to know who Calli is because I think senzawa's music writting skills plus Calli could rule itunes for years

fuck it you can't be a true Gura fan without loving this shit

she played with the software before she tried to become a vtuber lol I'm dead

I LOVE THIS RABBIT HOLE

I want to write about about how I fell in

this is both characters... this rabbit hole

:( I feel like Kiara is too exposed I feel sad about that. But can't wait for her 3D LIVE models because her dancing is Idol worthy

I've found all the EN I am very impressed with all of them and Calli was always dope on the mic nice

I saw Coco and many others

I am kinda shocked how much of their real features end up on their Live

- back on topic

Still love them all
