tldr: steamspy guy made a speech back in 2017 (GDC I think) where he explained how selling the games too cheap was a problem, it had a huge impact and the industry changed its pricing strategy.
That's exactly what happened.
Now, ignore the fact that said guy is currently running EGS and is giving away games for free en masse with 10$ vouchers for every purchase.
He's not completely wrong though. Even though I don't use Steam, I never buy full-priced games and therefore never day 1. Why is that? Because I know I'll get the same game one year later at 60% discount.
If I knew for sure that no significant price drop will ever happen, I would (more or less) happily buy games at full price.

Never purchased anything from G2A. I always use CDkeys and I never heard anything bad about them. I'd like to be proven wrong.
I've purchased a ton of games from the grey market as well and only once had a game revoked from my library which I bought from G2A (I was aware of the issues surrounding G2A at the time so I got what I deserved hehe). I've since stopped using that marketplace.

I've never had any issues with CDkeys.com either however GG.deals specifies for them that "Unknown source of the key: majority of keys in the store do not come directly from the publisher." which is something to keep in mind. I do think they are the most 'legit' out of all the reseller websites though but just be aware that from a dev side of things the same problems might still apply.

I thought about getting one or a few new simulation/management games but it seems hard to find anything that isn't early access or some kind of easy cash grab/shovelware game with questionable reviews. So I thought perhaps someone here could point me in the right direction. I'm looking for game like "Game Dev Tycoon" or "Game Dev Story" kind of management games. Games trying to either grow a business or run a business alternative games like "Oxygen not included". I'm not fond in the first person perspective simulations like "Houseflipper" or any kind of similar games. Preferably not games that are in the early access but I can make an exception if the game is in a more "complete" state than something that's very barebone.

Anyone that can help me out?

RimWorld and Prison Architect have been popular for a while. Then you have your Jurassic Worlds, your Two Points, and Frostpunk, if you like.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

Wildebeest Wildebeest already said it, but I'm really fond of RimWorld and it's emergent narrative. It's morr about a colony rather than a business, but you still have to manage lots of stuff to keep it growing in whatever way you want.

There's also Factorio, which is about designing, maintaining and growing a big ass factory. It's really fun as you try to make it grow in a way that makes sense, but you can also make an "espagheti" factory and have even more fun. I really like this one: bought it and put 40 hours into it, didn't stop until my factory was complete.

I crammed so many discounted games in the price of a AAA release (60€), like whaaat.
Maybe Steam was better about sales before but compared to the eshop or psn store, it’s night and day. Already installed a bunch on my Deck *rubs hands*

Picked up Rising Hell and The Vagrant from Fanatical’s Steam Deck bundle.

Not sure if I want to grab God of War or just snag some cheaper indies I’d been wanting.

Edit: Fucking auto correct. I really need to go back and read shit afterwards.

Man I'm starting to really hate the "View Details" button during these sales. Like Blazblue Cross Tag Battle is 4.99 with "view details" button, that then shows you the COMPLETE experience with all of the characters is $24.99. Then unlike most games with multiple versions, this one doesn't even list specifically what you get with the "Special Edition", so I had to go to the arcsys website. It's just a pain.

Mmmm. I was looking at this last night because I like Blazblue, but I had refused to purchase when this game released because of how Central Fiction had no English dub.

You can get the game + DLC 1-7 characters for $4.99, and then if you want wahtever is in vers 2 expansion pack.. that's $6.24 more. So you can get the whole thing for $16; you just don't want the "special edition"

I purchased a little bit of DLC for Planet Zoo. I haven't bought anything else. I have so many games to play that I'd rather pay $60 for a game I want to play, when I'm ready to play it, than $20 each for 3 games that I'll never play.

Couldn't resist at that price. Kind of wanted to get Rogue Legacy 2 but that's been 6eu over at EGS before so I'll wait until it hits that price on Steam as well.

Depends on what you like as they come in so many different flavours these days. The ones I've been enjoying loads lately are Have a Nice Death (yeah I just bought it but it really is far better than I expected, very much in the same vein as games like Dead Cells and Rogue Legacy), Forward: Escape the Fold, Voidigo (criminally overlooked gem that rivals games such as Hades, Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne), Ring of Pain and Going Under.

There's plenty of more but:
We, sort of, have a dedicated thread for just that question!

Trepang2 is kinda... meh. I don't know, I expected more after reading some stuff.
Feels like a B-list FEAR tech demo.

It had potential for sure, but it needs more work.
I did like the sound design.

Got the following, so far:

Any impressions?

Not good. Couldn't get through the tutorial as it was incredibly unclear what the game wanted me to do. And I could use my mouse at all. The cursor constantly moved up and to the right. No idea what was going on, but I was close to the end of my two hours return time limit so I had to refund it.

Got Everspace 2 instead. So far so good, but it is in early access. Less buggy than X4, ironically.

This game makes me so angry - it's so close to being my ideal game but it constantly shits itself meters from the finishline like an exhausted marathon runner :(

- Cockpit experience with TrackIR support... But the targeting reticle isn't a reflex sight and is focused one foot in front of your face, so it is useless for targeting (I wrote a mod to fix that, but then that would mean I couldn't use the Ventures due to being a modded client.)
- Lets you build and command fleets of capital ships and stand on the bridge as the crew enter battle... But the controlling AI is absolutely incapable of using them correctly if you are watching, so you have to be in a different sector for them to work.
- Lets you build fleets of miners and send them to work... but the constantly respawning, teleporting Khaak fleets will constantly harass them. So you can build fighter escorts... but they absolutely won't function, meaning you have to micromanage everything... so you just build a fleet of Large miners which completely ignore the Khaak attacks... except the large miners won't work properly if you're in system.

There's nothing else like it and I absolutely want to love it but I can only stand getting kicked in the nuts so many times.

if you like relatively long metroidvania with good melee combat system with combos and shit, this one is great (also incredible production values for an indie)

You can probably find a better price on cdkeys or instant gaming.

Now I'm really glad I refunded this....

I have 230 games on my wishlist but nothing I can see myself playing. I need new VR games. Besides the big 5 on steam are there any hidden gems I should look for

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

If you enjoyed Hades and Dead Cells, you'll probably enjoy Rogue Legacy. I recommend the second game, it has a lot more variety than the first (though the first game is only $4)

If you can pivot from action roguelikes to turn based deckbuilding roguelikes, these are my two favs

Maybe.

But it could still be fun 🙂
You are gonna turn off the game after 30 sec if you really hate gow so much and it's not just an act for gaf, if that game felt too cinematic and limited, ryse is gonna make you grasp for air...it's not really a debate, more of a fact.

Unless you REALLY are into gladiator movies stuff, i guess that part is well made thanks to the graphic and digital acting and can carry you to the end, the game is also pretty short, so...

Picked a couple copies of Super House of Dead Ninjas for our Steam Decks. Cool little game.

Got my son a copy of Shank 2, I already had it. We did the co-op survival mode a little last night. Good game, though.
