In all seriousness, Sony should be very happy with how PS4 is performing sales-wise in relation to its nearest competitor.
This. They're definitely returning back to the PS1 & PS2 days in which they were very popular.
I'd say that Microsoft's success with the 360 was just an anomaly. They got very lucky because Sony fumbled hard with the PS3 in the beginning of last gen.

yes but Canada is also 1/10 the population of the U.S. so about 1/10 the sales as well.... ratio is pretty similar though.
Not sure why some are surprised that 1/10 the population sellls 1/10 the units.... (referencing one of the first posts in the thread)

ITT people celebrating the inexistance of any sort of competition in some markets.
In my opinion, sales threads for such niche markets as spain should be banned on GAF. Consumer base is too inmature and single minded here.
PS3 outsold Wii here at 600 price.
NDS was burning HW figures, but then SW sales figures were noexistent due to rampant piracy. Flashcarts attachement ratios were crazy close to 1:1.
I can see a lot of people in this thread that would be happy if MS just cut supply and drop support. Hoping for them the best of lucks with their wishings would sound like a chinese curse.

I don't think anyone is celebrating. Personally, I am very much enjoying seeing MS get struck with Karma after all the stunts they've pulled, but I'm not opening the champagne or anything like that

There's an ignore button if the post of some people annoy you or just ignore the thread. It's nice to have some info about different markets.
Exactly why Xbox One is on life support over in Europe in comparison to Xbox 360.
Heck, Xbox 360 sold about 26 million consoles in Europe, as well as about a total of 10 million elsewhere outside of the U.S. (a combination of sales in Japan as well as with the rest of the world).
There's no way that Xbox One will reach those same numbers outside of the U.S. region. PS4's the one that's going to get most of those numbers, if anything.

The "Xbox" brand was never really a strong brand in mainland europe though.
MS handling of the Xbox one pre and post launch was never really interested in the European market therefore the market isn't interested in a product that doesn't seem to give them much.
When you talk gaming in europe its either Playstation or Nintendo, the Xbox brand is pretty niche here.

Think about this, all this with no powerful IP yet, imagine what will happen when that changes.
I agree. Let's focus more on interesting countries like China, where the Xbox One is comfortably outselling the competition.

Was in a media markt in Madrid on Friday - there were stacks of PS4 boxes (including dummy ones for the stand alone white model) and one Xbox One box hiding behind a 360 box. That was despite the store having a demo XB1 unit. At first assumed Xbox was selling better than I thought... Guess not.
That'll change when PS4 will eventually come out there, too.

Was there 7 PS4 boxes and 1 XboxOne box by any chance?

I am. The less MS sells, the harder it is for them to drag down the rest of the industry with their parity clauses.
Not to mention that it'll be much harder & more expensive for MS to purchase true exclusives for 3rd party games if they're behind. We want them to take 1st party development seriously, unlike with the E3 2010 to the present years of Xbox 360.

Basically this. I'm from Spain, and this country has been always a "sonyland" as you say. Only xbox 360 was fairly acceptable, but Xbox One here, is pretty dead to be honest. All people i know (i have both consoles) have PS4/PS3. The brand itself is quite established here, and you can see commercials and news a lot of times. Xbox and MS in general, is not too popular over here.
Actually, i think Europe is for Sony. MS don't have a chance here i guess.

No, spaniards are immature because they will buy whatever Sony sells at whatever price. If Sony releases a machine for 600 euros and a poor catalog they will buy it anyways. It's pretty sad actually.
EDIT: i'm ok with Sony doing great in Spain, not so much with people being so close minded towards other brands.

The other choice was a system that had the biggest failure rate in console history maybe even consumer electronics history. So do you want a 600 euro console with a bluray player(which were at the time 800-1000 euro) or a console that had a failure rate of 30+%.
