agendas! he said the secret word!
Okay, this whole thread has been worth it for that moment. Golden.
agendas! he said the secret word!
That's not the point here.
The point is this announcement is coincidentally coming very close to the release of Hatred. So basically, Twitch is saying you can't stream Hatred without actually saying you can't stream Hatred.
It's not their choice not to allow it that bothers me the most. It's how they're being sneaky with it and trying to pretend its for the greater good.
You're being purposefully obtuse if you are ignoring the notion that this could potentially be completely agenda-driven.
Which is exactly a point I made earlier in the thread.
I just feel like Twitch should be more up front and honest about their want to not have Hatred on their streaming service, and not try to sugar coat it. They should stick to their convictions.
While you're absolutely correct about this, and, obviously, as the service Twitch is well within their right to stop people streaming Pokemon if they wanted to -- it's still important to recognize that when a dominant player in an industry 'bans' stuff, it does actually have an impact. Just because its within their right, doesn't mean one can't take issue with it.
What's funny is how they feel about emulators right? Something that's such a gray area helps people raise money for organizations and charities. I realize a lot of them use the actual game, but half of the time I see them talking about which emulator they used to learn about the game.
All you have to do is maximize the screen and that rom is running. We all know there's Pokemon Roms out there.

From my understanding, as long as you have the physical cart, it is legal.
Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?
There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.
Of course it is agenda driven, their agenda is to be mainstream and to have as much mass appeal as possible.
i have to know what you think their agenda is
Just throwing this out there for the sake of discussion. Why cant AO game streams just be behind a mature content filter?
Probably nothing more specific than they don't approve of the content of the game, which is only mildly hypothetical considering the number of streams they have and advertising revenue they receive for other explicit games.
I don't ever really watch streams, but is there an uncensored gaming streaming site? I wouldn't mind visiting that.
did you mean hypocritical there?

Dude, just go watch some porn.
Just stream your Hatred play to a porn streaming site. Problem solved!Dude, just go watch some porn.
There's a very fine line between "not participating" and "rejecting".
This doesn't even approach censorship. People are just getting mad on principle here. Hey, I just woke up on this fine Thursday morning what can I be outraged by today? They never allowed AO games before this this just makes it extremely public and official.

That is a great question.
I want an example of an uncensored video game streaming site like everyone seems to say exists.
Adults Only games are verbotent, but borderline prostitution is still perfectly cool with Twitch:
hitbox, then go to hitbox and have fun.
I mean if Hatred or AO hentai games mean that much, go for it.
For now. Hitbox already has pre-roll ads, the one right now is Jurassic World, so they're trying to get commercial promos. Once Hitbox starts making good money, it'll be the same. So watch all your "uncensored" gaming content right now before it's all gone!
Strange eh? Drawn boobs are a no-no but capitalizing on lonely people by offering to write their name on your body for a fee is all good. I won't try and say that girl shouldn't be allowed to do this since it's her choice, but realistically, it's hard to deny there is some sort of double standard and it's rather bizarre that it's the animated scenario that is the issue.
Oh, they already censored their users' conent beforehand? That makes it perfectly fine, of course.

lol @ the "censorship" brigade. Posting on a forum as heavily moderated as neogaf, of all places.
Given the very short list of games actually involved, the only practical effect I see is with GTA SA.
I believe twitch already has a "this stream is for mature audiences" filter, or atleast it used to.
Because it isn't twitch making some sort of judgement on people's morality, it's about limiting what they could be legally liable for in case someone decides to sue. Now there's a rule on the books about Twitch not allowing AO-rated games, it isn't a question of them wanting to decide what people can see or even wanting to enforce it, it just means that if someone sues somebody Twitch (and Amazon) aren't liable.
I remember watching a stream on PS4 and this newly wed couple were just drinking and talking to people. The wife was reading all the comments like "take it off" and "show us your chest", etc etc
She danced, was about to do it, and then she stopped. She did a dance on the coffee table and showed everyone her underwear.
Now that was on UStream. Granted things like that could be considered worse than some AO games because it's 3D versus the real thing. There are cam sites out there for pete's sake and the consoles now have internet browsers. It's just people do it because they feel a rush or they are pleasing a crowd at the extent of their stream being banned. A lot of it is voyuer to me at least and probably helps people with fetishes. There's a lot to look at. A gorgeous streamer is pleasing without being completely nude. You're tempting them by spamming their chat with sexual messages.

Hatred doesn't even fall under the specific rules they defined.
But obviously Amazon is stewing in their corporate offices trying to figure out how to fuck over this one indie game made by a bunch of guys in Europe.

Just out of curiosity, why does it matter who made the game and where they come from?

They can, just not on Twitch.
What's the other game streaming site? I'm switching
Ustream and Hitbox are uncensored I believe, but Ustream is more an all "encompassing streaming site" if I remember correctly
What does that mean?
