Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Hop

That girl in the bunny hat
I must have really missed them lol.

It's probably because I usuallu browse by sales items rather than all. What songs of theirs are up?

"Losing My Religion"
"Driver 8"
"It's the End of the World as We Know It"
"Living Well Is the Best Revenge"
"Radio Free Europe"
"Stand"
"Superman"
"These Days"
"What's the Frequency, Kenneth?"
"Man on the Moon"

And then "Orange Crush" was in RB1. Most of the DLC came out right before RB3, so they didn't have harmonies, even though they were blatantly mixed for them. Sadness.

I never got a chance to really enjoy Rockband on last gen consoles. I sadly waited too long and now i can't find the peripherals for cheap enough without having to hunt through garage sales lol. I have RB 1 & 2, but no guitar lol So i am hyped to be able to play all of the songs from previous games in the latest version.

Also, if anyone knows where i can get a PS3 guitar and other parts dirt cheap, let me know lol

FyreWulff's Next Gen Guide To Quickly Expanding Your Rock Band Library

None of this guide requires you to own a 360 or PS3, or even put in a disc. This guide will also only cover methods that work 100% right now; it may be possible to get some other expired exports and offers, but YMMV.

Rock Band 1 Export Key - 5$
Xbox | Playstation
This will give you 54 songs compatible with Rock Band 4. You do not need the Rock Band 1 disc; this key will become a digital download on your One and PS4.
Value: 10 cents per song

Rock Band Blitz - 15$
Xbox | Playstation
This will give you 25 songs compatible with Rock Band 4. And a game! All of Blitz's songs are available individually on the store otherwise. It's likely Blitz will be compatible with the One's Backwards Compatible mode as well.
Value: 60 cents per song

Rock Band 2 Harmonix Pack - Free
Xbox | Playstation
This is a pack of Harmonix songs from Rock Band 2 that were given to everyone for free!
Value: Freedom cents per song

Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2
Check your favorite retailer, new copies only
A physical disc release that contained a collection of 20 Rock Band DLC songs that also includes a marketplace code for that disc's console family. Notably, it's the only way you can now obtain Snow ((Hey Oh)) by RHCP, which was pulled from the store due to license expiration, making it worthwhile to get this song pack. You only need to redeem the code from the manual to obtain the songs.

Value: 65 cents per song . Average price of the Track Pack is 13$

Various Free Songs
These songs are free on the store for promotional reasons.

Still Alive [X | P]
Am I Crazy [X | P]
Charlene [X | P]
I Still Believe [X | P]

Rock Band: Green Day
While the game's export has officially expired (it may or may not work for you at this point), the entire disc setlist is available on the store as regular DLC in album packs and singles.

Songs Re-released
Rock Band 1: The covers of Run to the Hills [X | P] (non-export) and Tom Sawyer [X | P] (export) have the original artist studio versions available on the store, which are linked. Wanted Dead Or Alive [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

Rock Band 2: Alive (export expired) has a Live [X | P] version on the store. Give It Away [X | P] (non-export) and Spoonman [X | P] (non-export) are available as DLC singles or via the Blitz export. Livin' On A Prayer [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

Lego Rock Band: Fire (export expired) has a Live [X | P] version on the store as a single or as part of the "Are You Experienced" album pack [X | P]. We Will Rock You [X | P] and We Are The Champions [X | P] are available as RB3 DLC in the store. You Give Love A Bad Name [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC in the store. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

DLC: Fortunate Son [X | P] , Working Man [X | P], Limelight [X | P], and Number of the Beast [X | P] all have a studio version of the song that was released after the cover version. The cover versions are still available on the store, so pay attention to the big "As Made Famous by" when shopping on the store. I've linked the studio versions.

Anyone know if it's possible to buy the Xbox instrument adapter in the UK by itself? I can only see it as part of bundles. I'm buying the BIAB but wanna be able to use a GH guitar.

So, in the past I have (Xbox 360, by the way):

  • Exported the songs from Rock Band into Rock Band 2
  • Exported the songs from Rock Band and Rock Band 2 into Rock Band 3

So for my Xbone and Rock Band 4, do I still have to possess the original export codes that were packed in with the games themselves?

you just redownload those exports into RB4 because they're in your download history

Was listening to the Spotify playlist today and I'm completely falling in love with the Eddie Japan song. That song needed to be in RB3 so bad for the trumpet on keyboards. Too bad It didn't get released three or four years earlier :(

It's probably my favorite announced on-disc song that I didn't know before this game.

The solution here is to just buy a trumpet, learn to play trumpet, learn "Albert" and then you'll be set. You don't even need to be in front of a TV to play it!

... be right back. Tracking down sheet music for it.

I had rock band 1 and 2 and loads of downloadz on my old Xbox account. I've lost the account due to email address expiring etc.

I need to ask. I still have Rock Band 1 and 2. Any news on how I get the tracks transferred and how much it is expected to cost.
It's such a large outlay for this game and controller I want to get the most for it.

The Rock Band 1 download is just a $5 download that you can still get from the store (though who knows for how long.) The Rock Band 2 download won't work as nicely, however. You need a working code from the manual and even then, it might not happen. Some people have reported success contacting EA about getting a working code, I believe, so that'd be your best bet.

As for getting more songs, check out FyreWulff's post...

Wow this is amazing. thanks for putting in the work on this post. I will be picking up an X1 later this year, mainly just for this (since I had a massive library on X360) and Scalebound. You just made my work 10x easier maxing out my songs.

Great info man. Few questions. For rock band blitz, it says in the description that it's not compatible with the instruments, is that just the game itself and the songs are compatible? How would I get the songs from blitz?
Also, it seems the rock band 2 free pack is actually rock band 3? Regardless, I downloaded some of these and they're in my account, but it says download to your ps3, not ps4. Do i wait for rock band 4 to come out or will it download to my ps4 even though it says ps3?
And for the re-release songs, what does it mean export and non export? Like Run to the hills it says non export and it's $.99 at the link, how does that work or what does it mean?
I have a few more questions but let's start off with these. Any help and info is greatly appreciated. Haven't played rock band in a very long time! I used to have a lot of songs purchased on an old xbox 360 hdd but now am playing on ps4 oh well...

Blitz itself. It only plays with a controller.

How would I get the songs from blitz?

When you buy Blitz it also adds a song pack called "Rock Band Blitz Soundtrack" (or something like that) to your download history. This pack needs to be downloaded to actually play Blitz's songs, but it also lets RB3 read those songs without overduplicating data on the drive. For the purposes of RB4 you just need it to have the song pack in your DL history.

Also, it seems the rock band 2 free pack is actually rock band 3?

Yep. The free pack of Harmonix songs only works in RB3 and Blitz. The songs are on RB2's disc.

Regardless, I downloaded some of these and they're in my account, but it says download to your ps3, not ps4. Do i wait for rock band 4 to come out or will it download to my ps4 even though it says ps3?

You have to wait for RB4 to come out / the songs to get upgraded and they'll become PS4 versions in your library.

And for the re-release songs, what does it mean export and non export? Like Run to the hills it says non export and it's $.99 at the link, how does that work or what does it mean?

It means the song didn't originally export from the Rock Band it came from. The cover of Run to the Hills along with 3 other songs did not export from Rock Band 1 originally. They later released the original version as DLC.

Tom Sawyer is different in that it -did- export, but they also released the studio version later (Rush found usable masters some time after the game released), so if you buy the RB1 export AND the master of Tom Sawyer that I linked, you'll have two Tom Sawyers in your library.

Tom Sawyer (Original Version) - only available off the store
Tom Sawyer (cover) - what will come with the RB1 key/export

I have a few more questions but let's start off with these. Any help and info is greatly appreciated. Haven't played rock band in a very long time! I used to have a lot of songs purchased on an old xbox 360 hdd but now am playing on ps4 oh well...

Feel free to ask!

This is the news.

You can win 1 of 500 RB4 bundles. And some other stuff to win.
That's a pretty cool idea.

Helpful post
Thanks, very helpful! I was so into RB in the day but I must not have been listening when they re-released those RB1 cover tracks as originals!!!!

Similar to your thread... does anyone know of a resource that lists "popular" or "must have" DLC songs for Rock Band? I have a decent amount of DLC but it's stuff that I know and love by name only - there must be heaps of great music available that I'm less familiar with/don't know by name... Fortunate Son was one like this for me - excellent song that I "knew" but not by name. Should I just take this to the RB community thread? (If there is one)

Does this work on Aussie accounts? Or is the dlc region locked?

Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo is the worst song ever. As much as I would like a great setlist, the taste of the modern day Rock Band peeps is horrible.

If Van Helen and Aerosmith are the tastes of the people currently working on Rock Band, then I may have to skip this.

It was picked by Harmonix circa 2006 for GH2. So I guess those modern day RB peeps still have the same taste.

And Aerosmith was also in RB1, yet again. The tastes are pretty consistent throughout.

Well 80's glam rock has always been the worst of us, it was bad in the original Rock Band games and it is still bad today. Do they think 40 plus year olds are the target market?

Must be getting close to the release of another Rock Band game. Hopefully it'll last for a while so we can look forward to many years of people with the perfect taste in music telling others how bad their taste in music is.

You knowwwwww, there are other people out there in the big old world. And some of them are older than you and like what is now called "Classic Rock". Some people like stuff you don't!

Me and my gang of old timers get together to play RB a couple of times a month. (When our backs don't hurt and the arthritis ain't too bad....)

Outside of the rare Mario Kart play, whenever my group of 10 friends get together and actually play videogames together it is always Rock Band. We're all 38-40, married, with children.

Well, as I understand, "You Really Got Me" was licensed for Guitar Hero II solely so that they could have a Van Halen song in the game, without having to deal with the drama between the band members at the time. And Last Child was in Guitar Hero II as well.

Not to mention that there was a huge thread on the Rock Band forums devoted to getting more hair metal into Rock Band for about as long as DLC kept getting put out regularly.

If only they'd consulted this thread before deciding on a song list...

They better get something out about those standalone legacy adapters for digital purchasers. If they're not happening we need to know. I don't want to be left out in the cold at launch.
