New Quantum Break Impressions & Previews

So far, Joyce seems kind of vanilla, maybe even boring. He’s no Wake and he’s certainly no Payne – the weird, psychological wonkiness of those guys is gone.

This is scaring me.
I also don't like that actor, he look so bland.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Game looks dope, remedy will deliver.

Those graphics on high end PC will be god like.

The "vanilla" thing is my biggest concern as well. Hoping the character has some kind of hook and they're just holding it back. I could see it being the kind of situation where he starts to break down over the course of the game.

The gameplay looks awesome. Visuals are pretty bananas. I do like you play as both Jack and Serene, even though Serene's parts are more limited.

Yeah, so this is probably the one concern I have right now. Ashmore is a good actor, I have no problems with casting, but they haven't shown him to have any sort of psychological edge or characterization beyond 'handsome, gruff hero'. It's a shame, especially since this is involving time travel which should be mind-bending, and they have a great actor. But, it might be too early to leap to conclusions. One thing that Remedy does is create great characters, so I'm sure that there's more to Jack than meets the eye.

I hope he stands up to these two:

Hopefully his character develops, even if the main character is boring, hopefully the characters around him aren't. I trust Sam Lake.

Looks so good. Still the game that will force me to get an Xbox one (by christmas if I decide to hold off my purchase of PSVR) at some point in the future.
Don't have a pc powerful enough to play this and prefer console gaming anyway.

Looking pretty damn cool. I'll admit, I'm just not buying the live action stuff, but I really dislike it 95% of the time in games. Hopefully, if/when I play this I will be pleasantly surprised or the rest of the game will make up for it.

The animation transitions look jarring. It's like he's at full sprint or barely moving. Didn't seem to be much in between.

Of course these are journalists playing, who are notorious for making great games look bad.

It quite literally wouldn't be possible, ever, for any system, to handle destruction like that in complete realtime with reasonable performance, the calculations would likely melt the machine. The impressive part is how they control it as well as the scale of it. It's impressive regardless of the fact that prebaked. The distortion combined with the actual destruction is incredibly impressive. That's what I mean by more dynamic.

this gameplay preview makes the game look fun. Can't wait to pick this up on PC. Based Microsoft

I dunno, looks pretty fluid here. But I think I know what you mean, when he starts aiming there is a "pop" tot he zoom and not a real transition.

In terms of TPS this is the most exciting game coming up, no offence to Uncharted but I'm all about that sci-fi super powers.

That being said I don't feel like it has the Remedy uniqueness in the writing? At least not compared to Alan Wake's. Maybe it's something that would shine through in the full package. But the powers are definitely cooler.

Also, and this is very important, does anyone know if Poets of the Fall would be making the theme song??

The Dome. fi videos, make the game look like a generic cover based shooter . If I saw those first I would be disappointed. He plays it like a cover based shooter. I'm sure on higher difficulties playing behind covers like that will get you killed, similar to Max Payne 3 on higher difficulties.

Yeah it's pretty bad, don't watch those. Anyway, if he would play like that later on he would get smacked pretty fast.

A lot of the combat animations are on point but some of the things look off considering just how good the visuals look. Mainly the out of combat walk cycle.

Other than that, looks pretty good.

I need this in my life.

We're going to get this, Uncharted 4 and Persona soon. Can't wait. Year is looking interesting for gaming.

really enjoyed how those enemies that can time dash dodge and get up-close so fast and often. The AI looked as though it still thought the player was behind cover and was focusing on it then got hit by a couple of bullets and dashed out of the way and returned fire. Looked very impressive.

gonna pre-order for xbox and play on pc. looks really good. especially the ai.

Some people see downgrades. I see one of the best looking games around, up there with the order and uncharted 4 or even better in some regards.

... C'mon now...

This game looks fucking fantastic, and it has some of the best visual effects in a video game. But let's not get crazy now.

Let's not get into this again. :p

Are there any unedited clips of cutscenes? Interested in the quality of writing/acting in the game.

Looks stellar, can't wait to get my hands on it!

Just judging by the gifs though, the videos are probably a bit too spoilery. How does the transition between tv-show and game look? does it feel out of place or does it feel seamless?

I don't know, given how crazy Alan wake and Max Payne got, I don't think anyone can really doubt remedy at this point. Of course they are holding back stuff ;)

Looks good, hope the powers aren't too overpowered.

Noticed a lot of screen tearing in all those videos, would be going for the PC version over Xbox.

Sorry but I still haven't watched any of the gameplay footages and most of the trailers, I hate spoilers. Is this game pure linear or there are some forms of open world area with side quests like RotTR?

Lmao at people who are questioning remedies ability to make an awesome action game. I guarantee this game will feel great to play.

My thoughts exactly. Remedy is going to deliver a great action game with an axcellent narrative, combined with innovative technologies and a vision to try new things like the integration of a tv show that will let us see through the eyes of the villain.

---

If anyone doesn't like action games, move on, this one's definetly not for you. If you like 'em, get ready to play a great third person action game delivered by Remedy Entertainment.

Not only beautiful but the best gunplay I've seen. Next evolution of Max Payne. Actually floored with how great the guns feel judging from the videos (Gamesradar). Remedy really are the Gods of 3rd person shooting. The way the world contorts and fractures then normalises is pretty spectacular.

Max Payne, definitely. Alan Wake...I found the combat pretty clunky. Mainly because of the horrible 'get tired after five seconds' mechanic. Don't make your controllable character have severe chronic asthma...

Worth mentioning, but the old lead seemed more in line with Wake and Payne.

At least what we saw of him. He had that look, Ashmore just can't sell it. He's too dull.

This looks like such a dynamic and fun TPS, I hope it doesn't get slammed by critics for not having a tons of systems on top of it or an open world filled with side quests..
