Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

It is a bit of a stretch to say there is voice acting in this game. You don't get credibility points for saying there was going to be an NX version. That was obvious to anyone when they originally delayed it in early 2015.

Yeah, I like Emily's tweets and she's generally on the money, but she deserves no credit for the NX version, and her voice acting rumour (without specifying how much) could easily have gone either way.

This was not her shining moment.

Did they mention anything about DQ7 yet?

That's tomorrow. They're only talking about Zelda and Pokemon today, with the exception of the press release.

Yeah, hard to count anything other than NX version in her favor, and it was effectively common speculation at that point (I think it would have only been surprising if there wasn't an NX version).

We can give her an INC on the "voice acting for most of the characters" thing, but it's definitely not a point for her. AFAIK we've heard one VA despite seeing four or five NPCs. Maybe it's different. Maybe it's just the demo. But grading that one as INC is as generous as one can get, I think.

And of course female protag is wrong.

I think we can give her the voice acting one.

Oh I see. Thanks!

No problem.

For the record, here's what the press release says about DQVII:

http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild

The final day of Nintendo Treehouse: Live begins at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday, June 15, and will primarily offer a showcase of previously announced Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, including Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (June 24), Monster Hunter Generations from Capcom (July 15), Paper Mario: Color Splash (Oct. 7) and Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (2016). Additionally, viewers will get their first look at a new Mario Party game for Nintendo 3DS that includes additions and changes to make it much more fast-paced and portable-friendly – players no longer have to wait for their turn, as everyone moves at once. Mario Party Star Rush launches Nov. 4.

I really appreciate seeing these strong optional enemies hitting for ~3 hearts worth of damage in the very first area. Glad to see no level scaling in sight.

The only extra stuff we got today was the release date for Paper Mario and the Mario Party 3DS reveal (with the Super Mario series 2 Amiibo figures to go with it). I'm sure both will get more air time tomorrow, but they've already got a pretty packed day.

I guess that depends on whether you think it's important or not if Emily was right when she said there was voice acting for "most" characters and what that is supposed to mean. It's not most based on what we've seen so far, and even if there's more, that doesn't mean "most." Maybe this is nitpicky, but the way she phrased it gave off a certain impression that clearly isn't the case based on the demo.

I think grading that point as "incomplete" is more than fair. It's giving her the benefit of the doubt without assuming she's correct.

We have not evem seen a single dungeon tho...

I'm talking about the mini-dungeons, shrines, whatever you want to call them. They don't have the Miyazaki aesthetic that the outside world does. The art direction of the shrines seems more "traditional Zelda" to me, not the Ghibli painterly look. It feels inconsistent with the rest of the world.

I feel like link is androgynous enough they could just have you choose links gender in character creation and then just change pronouns in text

That was a blast! Seriously. The Nintendo Treehouse is just the best of E3 since they first started doing streams.

So tomorrow there would be a showcase of upcoming Wii U/3DS games
and Mother 3 announcement,
right?

The Treehouse event was really a really cool idea and I'm glad that so many enjoyed it! Though I can't shake the feeling that they showed too much of Zelda. Overexposure to an unreleased game is a very real thing and hopefully Nintendo manages to avoid that with this one.

I personally would have just done an hour-long, tight, concise stream that went something like 5ish minutes for Paper Mario, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and Mario Party trailers, 25ish minutes for Pokemon, and 30ish minutes for Zelda. Upload it everywhere possible and call it a day. Zelda would have had the same impact regardless in my honest opinion.

They showed off the outlines of the full world map, and what's being offered for demo doesn't even seem like 10% of the available landmass.

Yes you can get rupees, they literally aint show us a damn thang

I was seriously thinking about making a thread about Mother 3 having no hope after today but guess I'll wait until tomorrow to see if it shows up...

You can only go back one hour on the mobile app for Youtube. I'm unable to rewind at all with the twitch site. :(

The twitch stream is over but looks like they have the entire thing posted now. check link above.

Zelda is their secret weapon. It will be the main game that can sell the NX. Those other games are meaningless from a strategic POV. That's why E3 was all about Zelda for them. They had to show that they have some serious Hyrulian Heat coming. Basically, "don't give up on Nintendo", please be excited

There are towns and full dungeons. They intentionally didn't put them in the demo because they want players to go into them completely blind.

Yup, they said, they intentionaly nt showing towns and story because they don't want to spoil us.

It was like Myamoto was talking to us directly when he said that lol

Can I get a time for that part where they used the wind to spread a fire and blow up a barrel and a piece of it hit an enemy?

Anyone want to bet you'll get a flying mount at some point? Probably as part of the end-game.

The game seems perfectly suited to it with its emphasis on verticality.

I'm calling it now.

Is the first part of the demo with Bill Trinnen playing the first bit of the game available to watch on-demand anywhere yet?

Why yes, perhaps I should have checked the OP. Hey, don't be dumb like me. Check the OP.

I hope someone is making a timestamp list of highlights, feels like whenever I tuned in it over the first few hours it was more or less the same gameplay of attacking encampments. Is there going to be a roundtable interview for this?
