This might top Link's Awakening for me!

I think you can? You have to tame it yourself though.

Probably, it's just that we haven't seen horses in the plateau area, so you'll likely have to wait until you leave there.

From looking at the IGN award thread, one thing that's amazing about this game is how popular all of the gifs are, yet the game hasn't released and barely any people have had a chance to play it, so these gifs are from a relatively select number of direct videos and streams, rather than a fully released super giffable game like Just Cause. The last time I've seen a Nintendo game similarly giffable was with Mario kart 8, which did end up selling gangbusters. Viral gifs are an amazing form of marketing themselves, and should immensely help spread word and hype for this game.

Also very very happy and encouraged that so many typically non Nintendo or non Zelda people are noticing this and already planning to buy an NX for it. As a Nintendo stock holder it makes my wallet happy!

You can climb the boulders so I wonder if you can stasis one , hit it with the hammer and then climb it and travel with it when it launches.

I can't wait till someone tries this and it instantly KOs Link.

His body will still fly though.

Also, I hope some enemies will be effected by your runes. I'd love to use stasis on one and send it into the rest of a crowd.

I wonder how is this triggered. Maybe it is timing based and you need to release ZL in the last moment. Cool mechanic if this is the case, it becomes a risk x reward decision.

The same mechanic was in Skyward Sword. Shields only blocked attacks and they took damage. But if you performed a shield bash at the exact moment of the attack you would reflect the attack and the shield would take no damage. I wonder if doing it in this game also keeps shields from breaking like in SS.

I hope there are still a few traditional items separate from the weapons that you find in chests throughout the world. Stuff like the Boomerang, Hookshot, Hammer, Whip, Iron Boots, Hover Boots, Ball and Chain, etc. They could be unbreakable weapons that you upgrade with points earned from completing shrines. It would be cool to upgrade from the Boomerang to the Magic Boomerang, or from the Hammer to the Skull Hammer, or the Hookshot to the Double Hookshot.
I have a feeling permanent weapons will be tethered to the runes or ancient sheikah technology. The bow and arrow seen in E3 2014, Aonuma said was important to the plot and didn't want to spoil anything. I suspect Link's classic weapons such as the bow, boomerang, hook shot, bombs, Shield, Master Sword, tunic, etc. may receive ancient Sheikah technology upgrades that are important to the plot and will be permanent.

I'm playing the demo later this week. I'm definitely trying this, the bomb shield thing...and I also wanna see what happens if you throw food at the bokoblins...

And what happens when you attack the Old Man a bunch.

I need to know.

Any other weird demo requests?

Well, we've seen the Master Sword. It's pretty rusted, but there's no way it's going to break outside of an important story cutscene, if at all.

Now that we've seen more of the game from the initial reveal, do we have a hint at what kind of arrow Link was shooting in the original trailer at the guardian?

It looks really unique.

The sheer wonder encapsulated in these gifs is incredible. Unlike anything I've seen in a game in a very long time. Some people have commented on how Nintendo captures that child-like glee we all had for games way back when, but I think this goes beyond that.

They're innovating. It's open world sure, you can take a glance and see that it's Zelda, and physics engines of this nature have been around since the likes of HL2 way back in 2004. BUT, BotW seems to be doing things with all of the above that we've often imagined, but never seen realised.

Trust Nintendo to pull this off on the least powerful console available.

What gets me is how fun this looks to play. This is what I've wanted open world games to play like.

It seems like you can do anything in this game, lol.

Do the Ice arrows freeze some of the water?

- You shoot an ice arrow in the water (or use that ice block tablet ability)
- You make some fire in the grass preceding the water line.
- You find a near cliff.
- You shield surf down.
- Jump off the shield at the fire
- Use the updraft with the paraglider
- Glide to the place whre the ice froze the water.
- And jump to the other side of the body of water.

congrats, you just crossed a river in style.

I feel like I've seen very little of this game, despite nearly all of the footage doing different things. And this is just the tutorial area that's basically an elevated plane.

You perform the shield parry with A while targeting when you have a shield equipped.

I'm kind of stunned at how many items you get in this tiny area.

Will the other, much bigger areas have as much new stuff per square mile?

Probably not. This is clearly the starting area so they have thrown in quite a lot of variety. But there are over 100 Shrines so there will definitely be a lot to do everywhere else

See if you can 1) cut down one of those trees with trunks wider than Link is tall, 2) ignite a tree into a big fireball (I don't actually expect this one to work because a living tree will be too wet; the brushfires only happen in dry grass, for example), 3) ignite a log after you cut a tree down, and 4) if you have access to the Magnesis Rune, if you can rip swords out of the bokoblins' hands.

Please and thank you.

Loving all these new gifs - I keep coming back to this thread everyday lol.

I'm surprised no one has successfully done the shield surfing off a bomb blast yet.

I haven't been so hyped about anything Nintendo in a while. The ridiculous magnitude of customization game play really does remind me of MGSV.

And it looks real good too. Shieet.

BorkBork

The Legend of BorkBork: BorkBorkity Borking
Those chest and skull kicking animations...

The love and care that's been poured into this game is so evident. That's what I'm jazzed about. I really thought Aonuma has lost the passion for the franchise (can you imagine working on the same thing over and over again for 15 years+?), but it's apparent from the game and the interviews that he's still got it.

So what's the deal with durability?

I read that you can find a sword in 20 mins...does that sword break?

I hate breaking weapons, I get it for things like sticks and shit...but for legit items, I want to have it and use it.

God this game looks so good. I cant wait to play it on the NX!

The atmosphere in this game, wow! The open world looks amazing and super large!
Amazing simply amazing.

Alongside the breaking weapons you will obviously get unbreakable stuff.

I just realized that laser deflection is basically a modern version of hitting nuts back at the deku scrubs, only far more involving and interesting.

lf l have one concern about the game it's the stamina bar, l hope you can upgrade it relatively early on because for the moment it seems to deplete far too fast, especially when running.

As said I think it could be okay if you have a horse early on but I also think you will be able to "upgrade" with clothing or magic to have better stamina bar. In fact you can make elixir to boost a little your stamina, so an upgrade is not too far-fetched (is this correct ? or it is far stretched ?)

You can find a sword in like 5 mins but its a rusted sword and will break with the quickness
