This App Store purge of "unsupported" products seems interesting. Appfigures has identified around 139k games out of ~631k currently available are likely in violation of the new guidelines, including past successes like Tiny Wings, Temple Run, and Infinity Blade http://blog.appfigures.com/ I have to imagine a very high percentage of those games on the chopping block won't get updated appropriately because they either aren't making enough money to justify it, the devs have moved on, or the devs otherwise won't have bandwidth.

At PikPok seems we have about 9 games that might not pass muster that we have to look at updating. Several of those will be problematic to bring up to current requirements.

Overall, I think the exercise will be a good thing for active developers and consumers, but a lot of high quality "older" experiences may disappear never to be seen again.

Beat Skyfish. Still never really got into it; it wasn't bad but it could pretty easily have been more interesting. The third (final) boss was finally a decent Zelda-style boss fight, with the second still being better than the first at least.

Meanwhile, would like to continue with Leap of Fate but it does that terrible thing where it forces its sound instead of whatever else you were listening to, so I can't listen to podcasts while I play. The soundtrack's fine, but it's so mindless that I'd want to at least get through my podcast backlog at the same time. Asked the devs on Twitter and it sounds like it'll be in an update, but they're focusing on getting the Android version out first, so... might be a while.

And Open Sorcery seems worth picking up, hmm.

I personally think there has to be a line drawn somewhere. For instance, just because a game like the original Infinity Blade may not have been updated through the years, if it still runs on the latest OS, I think it would be BS to pull it. Maybe make some games unavailable for sale, but at least leave it for consumers who bought it to still be able to download it.

And if it does have to do with versioning, perhaps make things have to be compatible for the past two full OS versions. Like iOS 8 and up when we're on 10.

Not everyone updates their OS.

I agree that some of the unsupported crap should be purged. Just be reasonable about it in a way that protects the consumer too.

Solitairica is like digital crack.

Such a fun game.. though I wish there was a little more variation in opponents.. but still great great game well made.

The more you play, the more their stats change, so I don't mind the lack of visual difference.

I can't put the game down. Still haven't reached Stuck, however :/

Maybe AdultSwim and Vlambeer update Monsters Ate My Condo and Super Crate Box sooner now. Hoping. A lot.

And Tiny Wings works perfectly, should not be removed.

An yeah, I think somebody discussed that it had disappeared from his device. Can anyone confirm or deconfirm if it had been removed from iOS devices.

I wonder if Steins;Gate and Lumines F2P will launch later today.

Hey bud! I can totally confirm with you that gaming on iOS does in fact make things very difficult!

Polara WAS taken off of the Apple and Google stores... it was grandfathered out as updates occurred, basically making Hope This Works Games, decide whether it would be possible to continue or not. The company is still alive...on life support at the moment heh as the money didn't allow us to continue to update and keep the games working on the newer store platforms.

I'm sorry. I'm flat out sorry that this happened and as much as we wanted to keep the titles on the store fronts...it just wasnt' possible.

The game is coming out on the 3DS on the 15th however, ported over by Circle Entertainment and FlyHigh Works.

As for the mobile versions... I am not sure how to get them back on the stores without having to spend an arm and a leg...we ran out of those a while ago :\

Two questions!

1. I'm getting the iPhone 7 on Friday (upgrading from a 5S). Are there any games that make nice use of the graphics? I remember enjoying Asphalt 8 when I first bought the 5S.

2. Is there any way to keep my 5S on iOS 9 and transfer my GF's sim and icloud stuff over? She's on iOS 8 right now, on a 4, and I'm afraid iOS 10 might be bad news for the iPhone 5S.

No need to apologize. I blame this on Apple and what they did with iOS 9. It just really sucks for everyone involved.

Is there really no way of us to save our games locally on our computers?

Thanks man... we shall see. I haven't even tried it myself haha I'm excited to see what they did with it.

Mobile is a difficult beast to keep on top of because of the number of hardware you have to make sure it all works on.

Really it was our foray into the whole indie world, I am not a 360 degree artist...in fact I'm a UI artist that turned into a Creative Director and had to sew together what I could with almost no budget haha I think I did all right for my FIRST attempt ;)

Maybe something will come down the pipe... I have a lot of free time on my hands now actually... a lot of tragedy occurred during and post release. The story is kinda crazy actually...I can't believe what has happened.

But in any event it means I'm free to possible reproach and consider things. But that's up in the air... the last experience was a mixed bag of aggravation that kinda served me a cold plate of grief ;)

Oh well...we'll see haha

I'd argue it's a lot easier to gain traction on PC. Mobile and especially auto-runners still have a certain stigma to them and only a smaller number of dedicated sites cover them. On PC, you have so many more avenues to get seen and find your niche, from itch.io and game jams to indie-focused sites and blogs and subreddits that cover smaller games.

ABSOLUTELY.

There's talks about sequels, but I don't know if I want to even go near another free-runner. It's like some faux pas or something haha I just enjoy games for what they offer...

But after the hell I've gone through(not the actual article... it all happened after it was released and has nothing to do with games at all...) the fact that this little tiny game I poured myself into is still kicking like 3-4 years later on another console...it's bittersweet.

It's a goal I've wanted to achieve and we did it. And it is a nice thing to surprise me among the shitstorm that basically tore everything apart.

Leap Day got another content update full of new levels, traps and much more, like iCloud. Right now my iOS Game of the Year.

And Redungeon gets better and better as well. New things coming soon xD

I wonder how Super Mario Run will play compared with Leap Day. Presumably the authored levels will make for a better/more dynamic experience, but the concept sounds similarish (besides one vertical and one horizontal of course.. though it could be argued that Leap Day is the better use of a vertical screen.).

I ended up buying Lifeline Whiteout instead of the Sorcery games

Seems like I just cannot get enough of it, despite how barebone it is lol.

Whoever makes these games does a really good job making me care about the characters

I even signed up for the newsletter loooool

I'm kind of feeling the other way. I bought Whiteout recently too, and don't find it anything special. In fact the communication or dialogue is at times cringy to me, and it takes me out of the experience. I have no interest in finishing it now.

Same. The dialogue and writing was poor, and the need to have a game that can be played from your lockscreen really limits the writing, choices, and complexity.

I'd highly recommend grabbing the Sorcery games as well, Xenoflare. No interactive fiction on iOS besides 80 Days and Hadean Lands comes close

So today is both the release of iOS 10 and Batman: A Telltale Game? I'll keep a sharp eye on the App Store today!

Also, Titanfall is getting a CCG spin off game on iOS.

If anyone is playing Star Crusade (you should, it's a hardcore scifi Heartstone with killer graphics and sounds) let me know and let's add each other as friends, so we can play together!
I'm playing the tutorial of this right now, and it seems very interesting. Although a CCG needs a good community to be worth playing, and I'm not sure this will have legs. What is your tag, so I can add you?
 
Nintendo region locked the sticker pack for iOS 10. Not available in India. guess i shouldn't expect super mario run either since it isn't even listed with notify me or fire emblem/AC. Sigh. Why would you not want your games in one of the largest mobile markets I dont understand.

I'm really liking it.
It's like Heartstone with some new mechanics added (like persistent points between rounds that let you choose some special powers).
The cards are fantastic and some effects are simply awesome (I love the shield).
I'm told after you win 5 classified matches the starmap opens up.

iTunes? Both before the fact and after with transfer purchases, or has the latter been removed in recent versions?

I always download everything in iTunes regardless so I don't end up in situations with lost purchases or inability to roll back app versions if there's a particularly egregious update.

I wonder the same. Very excited for Super Mario Run, hope it is the best use of a horizontal screen since the vertical screen is taken :) (I love Leap Day)
