GameStop Trade-in 6 Games 60% (+10% for Pro Members) Bonus 8/21-9/3

Mission Complete!

I think I made a mostake though. They didn't have Amazon GC at the GS I went to so I go Amazon Cash, but I am not sure I can apply balance to an order like a normal GC. Anyone know how? Only tried uaing the app.

So on the site it says Gears 3 is worth "N/A", will it still count in-store towards the added 60%? :X I don't even have 6 newish disc-based games to sell so was going to sell some old stuff but a lot are just listed as N/A.
My FFXIII was N/A. It rang up as 4 cents trade credit

I don't know if it's cause of this promotion or not, but I just got $225 trade-in value on my launch PS4 for a Pro. All I had to do was join the free level of Power-Up Rewards (without, it was $175). I already got a Pro last week from BB, but they wouldn't match the trade-in, so it's going back, right after it finishes transferring to the new Pro.

It would be easier to return the new Pro directly from GS to BB, right? Or does BB have some weird policy about returns needing to be exactly the same unit that was purchased?

Any major retailer will be scanning and recording your serial # barcode upon checkout and return.

$140 off 7 titles I'll never touch again. They were: Overwatch, Call of Duty Ghosts + Advanced Warfare, Need for Speed, Shadow of Mordor, Street Fighter V, and... damn, can't remember the last one, lol.

It won't work with your store credit. You will first have to get a GameStop gift card. Then go to a different gs and ask for an Amazon gc. Also, to make it look better, ask for a $300 gs gift card, not $295, and just pay the extra $5

Interesting, so the card I've got from GS with my trade credit isn't actually a GS gift card? Yeah I'll be adding the $5 to make it an even $300. Thanks for the tips! Will give it a try this weekend.

Traded in 6 games for $140 and put all toward the samus 3ds.

Nice. I got over $131. I walked out with all of it on a card as I couldn't tell what I wanted. I am leaning towards Mario + Rabbids, but still not convinced it's worth $59.99 plus tax. I am still enjoying Sonic Mania!

Calculating $135 cash if I trade in Uncharted, Nier, Yakuza, Persona 5, Black Ops 3, Titanfall 2, Wolfenstein TNO, and Cod AW.... Or 170 store credit for all that instead.

Not really sure which one to go with. Sure it's an extra 35 bucks, but I also hate shopping at Gamestop. Would only do it if it's possible for me to get an Amazon gift card with that GameStop credit.

You can use gamestop credit on amazon.

Traded in my Amazon Prime Day glitch stuff (Pikmin, RPG Maker, KH 2.8, Digimon) along with Blazblue CP and FE Echos for $175.

I'm not going to run around looking for flips this time, but this is an incredible sale for Gamestop to be putting on, and has gotten me to step into their stores more than I ever have before!

Does anyone know when Game informer magazines ship? Been a pro member for months and forgot the had coupons in em. Hoping for a B2G1.

Oh shit, are we on?!?!?!

ItsHappening

That's standard procedure. ALWAYS TAKE OFF THE SHRINK WRAP.

Just tear it off and hit another store if you can.

lol yeah this is Trade-in 101

I think they do this for legal reasons. For them to accept a used game, it has to be...used.

Hell, if you show up with a bunch of shrinkwrapped copies of the same game i think they are supposed to call the police. they assume those are stolen.

Getting the GS gift card I felt was the hardest as with the Amazon Cash thing I swiped it without them even seeing it was a gift card.
So you got the 70% bump and then you were able to put it all toward Amazon Cash after converting it to GameStop GC?

Did you print out a bar code for Amazon Cash that they scanned then? Or how does it work?

I keep seeing stuff about gamestop cards to amazon cash, but is it not just the barcode on the app?

Wait, so the woman last night gave me a Trade Credit card, so that is different from a normal ass GS gift card? So, I need to go in, and try and buy a gift card with my trade card?

Yes. Don't ask them to do it, just do it. Walk up, say the $ you want on gift card, when asked to swipe just swipe your TC card. It will work, there is nothing blocking it.

So fucking weird. I told her I wanted it on a gift card, she told me she could just put it on my pro card. I told her I'd rather have it on a separate card, so she did it. At no point did she correct me and say "it's actually a trade card, not a gift card." Annoying, but oh well.

This must depend on the regional office, or something. I went to 3 different gamestops in the area to try to buy an Amazon Giftcard or Amazon Cash (tried both) with my Trade Credit card. I did exactly what you described, just swiped it without them even seeing what I was swiping. Each time it came back "Invalid Currency"

You are misunderstanding. He is telling me I have to change my GameStop Trade Credit Card to a GameStop Gift Card. THEN go to a different store, or come back later, and change that Gamestop Gift Card to an Amazon Gift Card.

You can't jump right from a Trade Card to an Amazon Card.

Gamestop Trade Credit Card --> Gamestop Gift Card --> Amazon Gift Card = Profit

EDIT: I think, at least. Hopefully he or someone else will confirm I am understanding correctly.

Ah. Ok.

Tbf, I had people in the last thread about the previous version of this deal telling me that's what I could do. So I guess I was partially responding to that too.

Glad to see so many getting back in on the flip again! I'd join, but after a passive aggressive conversation with a manager who looked at my trade history after a purchase, I'm not entirely sure I can even trade there for another month or two.

Back then, it was a whole lot easier to get away with, partially because Gamestop managers were given July 3rd off. Now they're aware of the flip to Amazon credit, getting the change from Trade Credit to Gift Card to Amazon Gift card has become a bigger hassle.

For someone who isn't trying to flip to Amazon credit, Trade Credit is more valuable than a normal gift card. Trade Credit is exempt from sales tax- if you use Trade Credit to buy a new release, it's only going to cost you 59.99, not 59.99 plus whatever sales tax is in your area.

Hopefully this is correct and clear instructions for converting trade credit to Amazon...

1. Trade in stuff

2. You will get Gamestop Trade Credit for the stuff you trade. Gamestop Trade Credit absolutely cannot by itself be used to get Amazon Gift Cards or Amazon Cash. The system will not allow it. You need something better, so...

3. Go to another store (or come back another day), and proceed to the gift card racks and grab a Gamestop Gift Card (or cards if you want).

4. Go to cashier and tell them you want to put however much you currently have in trade credit onto the Gamestop Gift Card. DO NOT tell them/show them how you are paying for it. Just tell them you want X amount put on this gift card.

5. When they give the total, now swipe your shitty Gamestop Trade Credit card to pay for the much better Gamestop Gift Card, which the system WILL allow you to use on Amazon Gift Cards or Amazon Cash.

6. Once you get your trade credit converted to the Gamestop gift card, you can technically use the Gamestop gift card to buy Amazon Gift Cards, or use it for Amazon Cash. The system will allow it, but the employees very often will not.

You should ideally be going to different stores for each transaction so you're not immediately throwing up red flags. You'll be less likely to be denied this way, though many stores will deny it anyway.

Really? Does that include if you're using it to buy a console? That'd be a huge savings on the XOX.

Is there a limit on how many games you can trade at once? I've never traded anything as I'm more of a collector, but looking at these stacks of 360 and GC games I think I could get a pretty good hall for them.

Do they see on their system how you are paying? I mean, shouldn't you just do what you did previously; ask for the amazon card and not show what you're about to swipe? Or will they see/know at this point?

Right, ideally they do not see the method of payment because you pull it out at the last second and swipe it. I don't know if they can see the method of payment on their screen after you swipe it.

Yeah, on anything. If you buy a $400 with $195 of trade credit, you only pay sales tax on the $205 not covered by trade credit.

This here.

I will add that it's easier if you get a gift card for more value than your trade card. Like when I was getting a $450 card, I only had like $438 in trade credit. I just paid the $12 difference out of pocket. It looked less sketchy that way and two forms of payment were being used. Once you have the GS Gift Card, you can do the same with Amazon Cash barcode I think. Say like $460 and use $450 from your GS Gift Card and dump $10 out of pocket to make two forms of payment. I didn't have to do that on my GC->ACash transaction as it just went straight through. Different stores helps too.

Damn, I haven't had a chance to finish Lost Legacy or Horizon yet...

But I also have 2 buy 2 get 1 free...

I guess it would still be worth it to try to take advantage and then just realized buy those games.

I guess it will depend on if the Gamestops I go to have a high amount of good Nintendo pre-owned games?

Or just pay the few dollars more to buy a new game at GameStop and don't get the nice people working minimum wage behind the counter fired because you're greedy.
