It was definitely getting more attention because it's on GP so people felt the need to promote it and overhype it. You have to admit simulators and twin-stick shooters don't get that much hype usually. No BS here, just the reality.
I mean I saw someone in the flight sim thread calling it the Mario 64 of gaming or something

It is a cyberpunk RPG with Diablo gameplay style. It didn't need to be on Game Pass for me to be excited about that.

Absolutely amazing looking.
Cyberpunk setting which is hugely popular.
A mixture of a twin stick shooter and RPG
Like you said on Gamepass which means there are 20+mil gamers who now get to play this, which in itself will add excitement.
Has mulitplayer and cross platform ability.
Diablo style loot system.
As for Flight Sim, well maybe read the official thread and see the kind of experiences people are having, instead of trying to turn its popularity into some console war bullshit. Remember Returnal just released on PS5, a game from a very niche and almost completely PC genre. Loads of you said you loved it, so yeah cut the bullshit.

That's not just a GP thing though, all platforms are starving for next-gen content so every decent looking game is getting hyped to the moon.

Jeez, thats unfair. Difficulty shouldn’t be included as a minus in review scores. It should be mentioned in the review, but basing the score on it will only lead to developers becoming less creative.

Not as much influence as IGN, but still it made a big difference. The PC review page for the game doesn't have the metro review and the score is 76.

Since the mc for the xbox version was 64, i think that a 3 from metro is equal to 3 e from ign.
At least metacritic already knows that they are both shit in equal way.

Eh, Metro reviews are always all over the place. They gave Ratchet and Clank a 7 and Mario Golf Rush, Cyberpunk, and Outriders an 8 for example. Stopped going to them years ago for reviews. ACG and Skillup recommendations give me high hopes. Can't wait to play later.

Funny you bring up Returnal because Housemarque are masters in that genre and all their games were sales flops. Returnal is considered a hit for them.
The Ascent does look amazing tho that's why I was interested. I'm working from home today so I'm going to try it for myself when it's live on Xbox

Yep, crossplay on consoles and ms store version.
. . .by two points. It is possible that Metacritic has a weighting system and METRO has a large influence on the site, but I doubt that. And it's the only out and out negative score, but there are still more than a few middling scores on there.

I don't get your point and I don't see the link between The Ascent and those games? I never played Godfall and I tried Destruction on PS+ for like 2 hours. I never praised it here or anywhere (maybe just the graphics). Nice try I guess?

Flight simulator is so last year.
This has been one of the most anticipated games of the summer for me too.
So far hasn't disappointed. Crazy to see someone gave it a 3.
I'll be playing this on gamepass. So that I can remote and play at work in my browser or on my phone.
If you have played alot of iso shooter/ slashers like enter the gungeon or diablo 3 the latest hit being deaths door.
You will pretty much love this game and treat it like those games, bullet witch comes to mind. Shit is cool
my family including my wife plays alot of minecraft dungeons together. Which is amazing,
as wife doesn't play games at all (maybe some tetris effect).
To see her picking up a controller for mc dungeons is just fascinating.
But they do not play the ascent with me. too violent
Maybe doesnt have that minecraft dungeon levels in small blocks of time
or the casino like chimes and rings with colorful blasts and cuteness bliss that pop.
I would imagine the reviews would be the same as gungeon.

What? So loot isnt randomized? That cant be right. So whats the point of replaying the game over and over again? I thought the game is a sci-fi version of Diablo but with locked and loaded same map layouts.

It's pure clickbait to drive those advertising impressions. The same thing happened with Halo 4, some site no one had ever heard of gave it a score of 20 and took it from the 90s into the 80s. They got the most traffic they'd ever seen when scores of angry fans stormed in to MF them.

The only thing in common with diablo is the isometric view and maybe having a skill three but that is not exclusive to diablo.
I don't know why people make the comparison.
You replay again because the gameplay is fun or because playing with friends is fun?!
