I didn’t get to see the gameplay but there’s lots of comments about the graphics. It seems that most people forgot that this is first and foremost a PA4/Xbox One game. It wasn’t developed for current gen consoles. It’s also open world and will likely target 60fps so it won’t be able to push the envelope n the graphics front.
Also, it’s never been about graphics. All about atmosphere and gameplay, which From delivers by the truckload.

Saw the clip earlier and just thought "yep, that looks like Dark Souls in an open world."
I found out a bit later that it's apparently footage from the Xbox One, which put some of the graphical shortcomings in perspective. Still excited to play this when it comes out though. I hope it leans more towards Dark Souls gameplay rather then Sekiro (just wasn't a fan of that game).

I don't want to judge from a 30 second clip but I will anyway. I don't think From has the chops to make an open world and I'm not sure why they deviated away from Miyazaki's brilliant interconnecting maze like structured levels.
That open world looks pretty janky and could possibly be the games undoing. Then again, Miyazaki always pulls through so it's hard to doubt him.

I'm not crying, I'm just stating facts. And how is this even related anyway, you didn't even answer the questions I asked, your reply is completely outside of the topic.
You said the game can't look better than this footage because it's also releasing on last gen, but now you're saying it's just xbox one footage, so I guess you mean it can look better, your logic is really hard to follow.

Yeap, Dark Souls is the definition of open world to me. You can go almost anywhere without loading screens and that map is huge. I think for some people open world means fetch quests and 15 minutes of horse riding through nothingness.

Yeah, don’t understand the whining. This looks great to me and exactly what I expected. It’s perfectly reasonable for the game to look like this following the last proper trailer. The sense of scale seems awesome as always too.

Looks as good as one could expect for a FROM SOFTWARE game designed for previous gen. Effectively just DS3 in a more open world format with longer view distances and some minor improvements. And that's fine by me, but I do hope there's improvement to some of the materials. In DS3 especially the ground textures looked really ugly and "plasticky", even though FROM has had pretty nice look to most other textures like armors and buildings. I guess the engine doesn't use any sort of physically based rendering, which I hope they'd manage by now. Also I really hope they'll add DLSS, but that's maybe hoping for too much. I can always tweak the look with reshade, and with working HDR the game should look gorgeous with great art direction.

We just saw a half a minute clip there. Who knows what will be available in the full game.

i don't care about visuals. would i like them to be better? yeah but it's not a dealbreaker. From Software make fantastic games so I'm there day 1.
remember it needs to run on hardware from 2013. it's a cross gen game. this is apparently the XB1 version so maybe wait and see what it looks like on SeriesX/PC first before crying?

It looks like a PS4 game. Which makes sense, since that's exactly what it is and has been since the start.
Not too bummed about it, it's definitely not a technical showcase but that's not really the point or appeal of From Software games to begin with. It looks OK, if they managed to make it run smooth on both old and new gen, I'll take those graphics happily.
EDIT: Also, apparently the leaker said this is the Xbox One version of the game (can't confirm 100% from the source, but I saw a few people report it). So on next gen it will probably look at least a bit better in terms of textures/resolution/shadows etc.

While this is true, it's mainly a ps4/Xbox one game, that doesn't explain how the graphics are ps3 tier. Even then I kinda feel like that's a misnomer since there were many ps3/360 open world games that look leagues ahead of this. I'm kinda flabbergasted at thst video and I'm hoping it's just some really really early build or something.

I'm fully expecting this game to be beautiful. Be it the overall art, the environment, etc. It almost never fails. I saw a small gif of the footage, and for all we know it could be a dated build. But even if it wasn't, I'm not concerned about the outcome. It's sounding like the most ambitious game they've done yet, and I'm here for it through and through.

The leaker is an Indian QA contractor responsible for testing the game on Xbone. Decided to make a blog and a youtube channel (both nuked now) and break NDAs, literally announcing he plans to release more content he has access to as tester, multiple games.
All that on a website blog containing all of his personal information (name, phone etc) in the public domain register anyone can see.
Big brain energy.
Obviously got instantly sniped by Bamco legal and he's gone.

it's a shitty capture of the game running on its lowest spec target console. The movement does look like not much has changed since DS3 and I don't expect the animation and collision to get any better, but I also don't think it will bother me while playing.

There’s nothing officially been said about this footage. This could have been pre-COVID footage. Outside of that, it could be this and I’m just fine with it. I don’t get how it looks so bad. Nothing from their trailers looked bad. Gameplay and discovery is 90% of what these games are good at. If you want Ryse or something with eye candy, you can probably find that elsewhere.

I think even Dark Souls 1 looks better than this specific footage of Elden Ring (I'm not talking about the potential final game, just this specific leaked footage). The environment in this footage is extremely poor, the plain on the left is here is like almost Pokemon Arceus bad:
The final game might be great and look better, we don't know, I would certainly hope so. But in this specific footage here, it's just really weirdly bad. There are tons games from the ps3/360 era looking better than this, especially if you run them on pc in modern resolutions.
Just in case, I'm not saying this to trash talk about the game, I'm interested in the game and I'll wait until I see the final version on PC, I'm here just replying to the fact that this video can indeed be compared to some ps3 era games.

Yeah, i did. Gloves look awful, horse looks awful. That's the first 5 seconds. Trailer shows the same area, literally the same fidelity. You are wrong. That's OK.
If you think it actually looks " SO MUCH BETTER" and not a lot because of the video quality you're beyond help. This build is probably even newer than captured from the trailer. It's probably even captured on the One X and not base system.
