There’s more games with a PS5 advantage. But it’s a wash.
Still PS5 is suppose to be weaker.

At least he's honest about it.
yes yes it does
Just wait until PS5 gets VRRDigital Foundry is boring when everything is so balanced iMO. I need bloodbaths.
Now can we have them ordered in release date order, oldest to newest? Also how is it taking into account games that have 2 performance profile modes?

Already did last page. Tales of Arise performance. You are both free to point out where he is wrong.
The threads are just for fun, best thing is own both consoles and play best of both worlds in terms of exclusive games..
Third party wise get the one that's the least dog water.

pretty sure he referring to the original content this was gleaned fromYou are both free to point out where he is wrong.
Then great news, right? Most versions of games are great regardless of which console.

ok, sorry. i just figured it was a jab at df. i stand corrected
yeah....the content he is referring to wasn't the question at all.
Valhalla still 1188p on XSX and 1440p lowest on PS5. Dirt 5 was compared by Nx gamer post patch and PS5 still came out on top.Weren't dirt 5, Valhalla, and control evened out post launch? What's the point in compiling a list using outdated info
Now remember what was the mood around here, and the rest of the internet, about how the SeX would massacre the PS5.
People should finally admit how they where wrong and it's not that there a stronger and weaker console, that actually each one have it's own advantages but overall they're very close and we'll only see differences in specific cases on specific areas.
I don't know why... FH5 and Halo infinite MP in a week seems like a pretty damn jolly time to me.Xbox favoring people are clearly not happy. lol
And that's great but you know that is not what I was referring to.I don't know why... FH5 and Halo infinite MP in a week seems like a pretty damn jolly time to me.
Yeah, it doesn't really matter in the end. No one cares that Battlefield 4 on Xbox One has jaggy powerlines or whatever. The online shitstorms during the 360/PS3 & early Xbox One/PS4 era were fun to watch unfold, but that's starting to look like a thing of the past. We've reached a point where the ride or die console warriors are hyper focused on a momentary dip in resolution or framerate now. We're talking peak autism, bro.I'm far from convinced that the sort of pixel-counting autism that DF practice is useful for much in the real world anyway - it just seems to be fuel for fanboys.
Playstation has always been the weaker console (minus the PS4 gen). They've had brief moments where you can categorize them to have been a little more powerful but generally they've never really been the most powerful console there is.PLAYSTATION ALWAYS WINS BABY.
Except this thread was on fire for well over a year BEFORE the systems even released with many folks arguing that the Xbox Series X was the more powerful console and would run games better than PS5. Any discussion about "efficiency" over raw power and the advantages of higher clocks were quickly dismissed. Seriously if you were to try to convince the unsilent majority here a year ago that PS5 would actually have a slight edge in multiplatform performance comparisons, many would have not even entertained the idea! Just funny in hindsight....I have been saying that the 2 would have a negligible performance difference for nearly 2 years so no news here.Basically one year in, it's been a wash. Will see what year two brings.

It is ok that both consoles are great.

What is really interesting here is the approach Sony is taking this generation when it comes to marketing and positioning. Anyone notice that after 2 in depth Wired previews and the "Road To PS5" GDC talk, we haven't heard a peep from System architect Mark Cerny on PS5 hardware? What's the story with the PS5 geometry engine? What about more details on the I/O subsystem and it's advantages? How about those ear pics to get custom 3D audio profiles?
The truth is that after the Road to PS5, Jim Ryan was pissed at how it was received and how many forums (such as this one) were igniting console wars and misinterpreting key information. 10TF vs 12TF, confusion on Backward Compatibility, lower clocked CPU, and of course the whole variable frequency fiasco . No Bueno for the team at PlayStation. It wasn't due to lack of confidence in the system they built, they just didn't like the narrative vs the competition and wanted to regain control over the discussion. So what does Mr. Ryan do? Effectively he silences Mark Cerny (and others internally) and focuses the discussion on where it belongs: on the games! How many times have we heard Mr. Ryan say in various webcasts/State Of Play and interviews over the past year: "It's time to let the games do the talking". That's exactly what Sony is doing now.
Forget the TFLOP count, clock speed, fixed vs variable, RDNA versions and all that other BS. What do the games say? How capable is this machine? How does it compare to the competition? Based on the games themselves (which is what matters), Sony can proudly say "Very Well"
Surprised to see more games with a PS5 advantage than an xsx advantage. I thought the xsx was cleaning up after the tools arrived. (not being facetious here, some games did improve performance and xbox had a great summer with Doom and Metro both showing a substantial advantage. ) Really odd to see things even out again in fall. CoD and Guardians were very surprising.
It will be interesting to see the xsx mesh shader and vrs advantage play out. If the PS5 is indeed missing these features, software or hardware, I would like to see how it transpires. Though the UE5 demo targeting 1440p 30 fps on both consoles doesnt give me much confidence. Pretty sure nanite is using mesh shaders/primitive shaders so if the RDNA 2.0 features are really that advanced than the difference shouldve shown up in the form of a 1440p vs 1800p comparison. Instead we arent even seeing a 1440p vs 1620p difference.
The worst part of it all is that both consoles are so far behind with their next gen only games that by the time true next gen only games arrive, we might be in late 2023 with the PS5 Pro launching eliminating any potential advantage the xsx might have had with their full rdna 2.0 support.
P.S I think we can put to rest any 9 tflops nonsense. the PS5 GPU seems to be working 100% going by performance metrics AND more recently the power wattage. 230w clearly means the gpu is running at max clocks instead of downclocking to 9 tflops. Poor colteastwood risked his account for this lol
Only true 8k console on the market as far as we knowPS5 version of The Touryst is almost 2X the resolution of Xbox Series X how they miss that?
Avengers should be in the Xbox column and Control should be in the neutral column. Also not sure about Dirt 5. Everything else seems fine.
I just remembered that Little Nightmares was patched, so it should be neutral. Also didn't Tony Hawk perform better on Xbox? Another neutral.
Only in photo mode, gameplay wise XsX stuttered compared to smooth on PS5I distinctly remember Control being firmly in the XSX column. This may have evened out with updates, but day one was handily a better experience on XSX.
The list is suspect at best, especially since zero follow-up was done and some games were just plain misrepresented as better on PS5 when they were not.
