You like jumping to conclusions so much.. why don't fill in the blanks yourself. There are enough of people here getting into why it comes of as woke.
I'll say this, if there's one thing I've learned about the modern SquareENIX, it's their pandering for flair over substance. I can emphasize with their budgets bloating, but they're not prioritizing on the right things.

Perhaps this game should have done a better job in its elevator pitch then. 4 minutes is a very long time to garner excitement in the world of marketing. All I saw was a ton of a traversal system usage, obnoxious dialogue, and circle-strafing mindless AI to unleash spells on. It's all very been there done that.

Had to look up what an isekai is.. Not my cup of tea - could work for me if it meshes and works well with plot and gameplay.
Sort of like Chrono series where the protagonist have no way to return to the status quo due to world or self transforming, it's really iffy but the games shines in so many other ways it makes up for it.
Not a fan of the many teen tv series where this is used as an easy plot device.

Who is this game even for? People that like open-world games with more snark and technical issues.
Wonder if this is one of those games where she is destined to be "the one" and we get to see her journey of actualization as she overcomes adversity and believes in herself. Haven't seen that plot in about two days.

Square has had good, black protagonist and female protagonist - both before. What makes you figure I have an issue with either? Edit: or both.
Oh, right, presuming based on knowing nothing about me and substituting with your own prior experience.
Oh, I'll definetly lach on to that Forspoken is looking (and sounding) like bs that obfuscates the truth about the fact that this game targets an audience that only exist in social media and corporate social justice campaigns.

It seems like they're trying to pull it back and un-release it as quickly as possible. Wonder if it's because it was a mistake or that the negative feedback was overwhelming.

Drops to around 17fps when that Ice Ball thing goes off. If this was released on purpose I don't know what to say other than it wasn't a great idea.

I also hate this trend. Most designers don't know how to make a compelling open world game, and generally they end up being a big hub of very repetitive mission structures. I wish more linear games came back to be a trend... I rather play a shorter game that respects my play time than a longer one full of crap to keep me busy.
This demo is a good indicative this will be the bad type of open world game btw. The player selected a chest on the map, travaled there on foot dashing all the way through, killed a bunch of damage spongey zombie like enemies and then get what apparently was a healing item. Yay, sooo fun...

The camera positioning is horrible, big open world with nothing to do because you're supposed to be running quickly through it.
Combat is awful.
The animations are fucking basic, especially on enemies.
It actually makes Assassin's Creed games look GOOD.
And this game is coming out in May. My hopes that things will get better is not high.

FF7R executed "topics" brilliantly and tastefully, if they'd wanted to out Cloud as one agreeable to cross dressing, or Andrea René as lgbtq, I'd be a 100 percent on board for that, knowing how they executed the rest of the game.

Brown, empty overworld - you simply cannot create an open world that is that empty nowadays, people will get tired of it in 20 minutes and go play a game with tight design instead - hopefully it has some well designed dungeons. The magic and combat look good although not in that clip. I am interested in this game but they are really doing a bad job at showing it off. So many things just aren't clicking for me. Oh well.
