His first few mixtapes are amongst my favourites. His newer stuff is definitely more pop friendly but still retains some of the darkness and depth his older stuff did. His newest album isn't anything special (been listening all day) but it's a fun enough record with some spacey synth stuff going on.
Maybe try his earlier stuff if you're not feeling anything post 2013.
