Starfield in the polish/optimization stage of development

Fallout 76 was a broken unfinished mess during release, it’s still fresh in my mind. Why should i believe this will be any different? Their track record doesnt make them any favours either. People should wait for trusted reviewers to Review the game before giving these companies their money. That’s the only languege they’ll understand sadly.
Because this isn't a shameless cash grab by Bethesda and Microsoft's standards are higher.

initial exchange between me and Concern was not worth anything for a third party to get so worked up and start namecalling.
Initial name calling started just there in your exchange that was meant for bait.

Being "better than the last-gen consoles" is not high praise. It's nice that you experienced little problems but that wasn't the case for many gamers, even on PC.

Also, I felt this game failed as an interesting open-world game but MOST IMPORTANTLY, as an RPG. I never said I expected a cyberpunk GTA. I think Cyberpunk fully polished is a slightly above-average game. That's my opinion.

All me to refresh your memory. All played on PC and all completely acknowledge that the game is full of bugs.

I never really pay attention to what other people say too much, especially if it doesn't jive with my view. True, Cyberpunk 2077 had bugs at launch. My play so far I didn't encounter very many of them, and I would consider it one of the absolute best games I've played in years. The worst part of Cyberpunk to me, the part that took me out of the experience, was not seeing vehicle traffic go around my car when I parked it, but the experience felt fantastic. Combat felt great. It's absolutely a great RPG, but a great RPG that has its problems that are getting fixed. I've been waiting for the next gen update to get back into it.

Same, I played every major Bethesda Elder Scrolls title since Oblivion at launch, and didn't encounter many, if any, issues with bugs at all. I didn't play any of the Fallouts at launch. As I mentioned before, didn't become a fan of the series till the Xbox One X upgrade of Fallout 4.
They had bugs for sure, I'm not denying that but people seem to conflate them with launch Fallout 76 and New Vegas ( even though NV is fucking amazing it was so broke at launch).

Yea, it's incorrect to say Bethesda Game Studios releases broken or unplayable games. They don't. They release large and complex games that can at times encounter issues, but that's normal, and they always correct/fix them to a degree where those issues are totally non-existent, or significantly more rare.

I found a bug in the thieves guild quest line in vanilla skyrim(2011). The game was too ambitious for its time and the platforms it was aiming. Reviewers praised it because they didn't encounter them and it was amazing for a 360 game. We found some bugs after pouring in 100s of hours. They were never game breaking for what we got at that time. Mods kept the games standards upto modern games even now. Bethesda's mistake was not revamping their engine for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition. Hopefully Creation Engine 2 is finally the upgrade we wanted.

I remember Fallout 76 was originally the online mode for Fallout 4 by Bethesda Austin. Many of us wanted an online co-op mode for Skyrim(hence the mod Skyrim Online). Hopefully if they ever developed a online co-op mode for Starfield, they have learned from their mistakes in Fallout 76.

I might give the game a look since it's on Game Pass. Is there single player content?
It’s OK. It’s FPS boosted on the XSX. But TESO is 1000x better. The next gen TESO update really makes it TES 5.5. Playing Blackwood right now and I’m impressed.

im so curious about this game. will choices matter again or will it build on fallout 4 and be more of an action game than an RPG? how you play needs to matter. like make it really matter on what type of character you play. make choices on quests that drastically change the outcome. maybe im expecting too much but bethesda are more than capable of this.

No they're not. Enough Series S in stores here and I've seen plenty of of photo's in other countries with enough S stock. Xbox is not in the position to show gameplay from a game this anticipated, so late. They need all the hype and traction they can get.

Those Series S consoles are being sold out and replaced. It’s easier and faster for MS to make those.
Of course the Series S is in way less demand than the X or PS5, but they’re selling, and selling quite well

For reference: the Spider-Man 2 PS5 reveal trailer was posted 4 months ago and is sitting at 19 million views.

The Starfield announcemeant teaser was posted 3 years ago and is sitting at 3.5 million views with the Official teaser trailer sitting at 16 million, posted 6 months ago. And that is a game also coming to PC, which has an enormous install base.

It seems to me this isn't the time to dripfeed your player base with mainly concept art when a game is in development that long. You should get players excited to the max. Especially with Sony releasing a couple of big hitters this year and having Spider-Man 2 for next year.

There’s no logic in comparing Starfield - a new IP - with one of the biggest IPs in all entertainment media. 16 million views for the e3 trailer is quite decent when you consider the hype cycle is yet to kick into overdrive.

Except Todd belongs to Microsoft now and Skyrim and FO4 weren't on a rental service on release and available on PlayStation. Huge difference. Starfield will sell a fraction of those numbers. Microsoft absolutely needs a huge exclusive succesfull new singleplayer IP and the hype that comes with it. Especially after FO76. Todays Bethesda is not the same as old Bethesda.
See above.

Imagine trying to push a narrative that there’s no hype behind Starfield.

Between Xbox and Steam, Starfield is guaranteed millions of sales.

At this point, anyone pushing the ‘sales will be a fraction of previous releases’ in a post Gamepass world has to be joking.

Vegas isnt from bethesda.
Skyrim and other bethesda games were from objects. Not quest breaker like the witcher 3.

The game was on ps3/x360. Those 2 didnt have mods to fix them. That is how tame the bugs were.

The Witcher 3 was on consoles too guess everything on those must have been tame too....

what was your point again? because everything you just said applies to the Witcher 3 but still didnt require the community to completely fix the left over bugs afterwards on PC. You really don't remember the launch of these games do you?

that's not just item "placement" they haven't been fixed yet outside of PC's mod support, some can still cause hard crashes on console today...

like this was a huge deal...

oh please

do you want to perhaps google search any Bethesda game and watch a few videos from launch, hilarity and game breaking issues guaranteed.

I dont deny these bugs. It's why we call them bug bethesda.

But they are better than the witcher 3 bugs.

At least both fallout and elderscroll are limited to creation engine, and old hardware systems.

The Witcher 3 had no excuses to have these bugs.

Your bug is better than my bug — well, as long as it is the spider!

Even Fallout 4 using that game engine does some pretty surprising and under appreciated things visually. The weather related stuff, the heavy plumes of smoke and various other effects, such as lighting at times can look pretty damn good and really catch you off guard. I really enjoy their art direction.

They didn't originally grab me, with expectations from other very different games carrying over from, but once you accept that Fallout is a different type of game, with many different systems to consider, it just all clicks.

Maybe you should clean your ears then.

Fallout 76 was fundamentally broken at launch. They said no Microtransactions, then put in microtransactions. They had no humans npcs in the game at first...arguing that it didn't fit the universe they were trying to build...then they went back on that. Should I also mention the Canvas bag debacle for the premium edition of the game? All this AND it is Bethesda's buggiest game to date. Still they shotgun released it and even added a frickin battle royale.

Yea but none of this is a cash grab. Sure bro.

The difference with Starfield (I HOPE) is that if they are polishing now, almost a year out from release it can mean the game is HUGE, which would be great. I highly doubt it'll be as involved as Skyrim though.

Why wouldn't it be as involved as Skyrim? Sounds like it could be more hardcore than Skyrim in a number of ways based on what Bethesda are saying. Just to be clear, I never view streamlining, improving or cleaning up as a sign that something is less hardcore. Lots of people say Fallout 4's character progression was less hardcore than New Vegas and Fallout 3, but I disagree based on what I know now. Fallout 4's character progression system felt much better, especially the way perks were handled. I thought it was more flexible, led to a more specialized character that couldn't as easily just get everything regardless of what path you chose at the start. There's also the factor played by various gear and weapon addons that further boosted character attributes; you could actually go beyond the previous special limits of the older games, building more unique characters.

Zenimax management.

Those fuckers were ruining bethesda.

Especially with that 100$ subscription.

Glad they don't own bethesda anymore.

Im ready it my most hype game for 2022 if it is good i can see it selling 20-30 million and reach Skyrim level when it is still being play by million 10 plus years later.

Todd Howard confirmed Starfield will have the largest ever map/world in a Bethesda game.

Fallout 76 has the largest ever world map in a Bethesda game currently, 4 times larger than Skyrim to be precise, and Todd Howard has confirmed Starfield is even bigger than that.

In the interview above, Howard mentions that the size of the map will be even larger than Fallout 76's map, which in itself was four times bigger than Skyrim's map.

Howard goes into detail about how the team at Bethesda will make this possible. According to Howard, the game's landmass is being procedurally generated during development, while distinct landmarks are still being crafted by the team. Cities, in particular, will be larger and feature more NPCs than ever before. He also mentions that they will play a larger role in the game, though what that means exactly remains to be seen.

The youtube interview in question.

Yeah but the thing is with a space based games, you can generally get away with making larger emptier zones .. cause you know .. space ..

like how Mass Effect 1 technically is the biggest game in the franchise, cause it has so many planets you can land on .. but none of those planets are anywhere as busy with content as the 3 main ones are.

“way ahead of where we were in prior product cycles” - EA CFO Blake Jorgensen BF2042
Point taken, the lack of polish on the swedish side of things have also been a thing in recent years

Edit: But then again we have stuff like It Takes Two as well 😉
