Same here; the aliasing and blurriness is really of putting.

Tbh I'm not even that bothered about playing at 30fps, if I had the game now that's what I'd do. But it seems like the response is bad enough that it may just get patched.

Tbh it seems bad enough that it'd probably just be better to have the Pro settings but at native 4k. For me generally my priorities are

1. 60fps
2. Resolution
3. Higher settings
4. RT

Then you sir need a bidet.
@tommib
I tried and failed to send you a PM, so I will just say it here.
You can get a bidet for like 60$ and it will change your life. You ever have a itchy bum? I don't. Get a bidet.
You know how i don't get an itchy bum? I changed my wiping style and don't stop until the paper comes back white. Haven't had an itchy arsehole in about 10 years, unless I've been forced to rush in a nasty public toilet.

Can confirm it cost less than $60 (+installation).

Also, horizon forbidden west.

I don't think I've seen one positive bit of feedback on performance mode yet. Really sounds pretty bad tbh. I think I'm gonna leave this for a while to see if it gets patched. GT7 is out in a couple of weeks anyway.
I'm not taking a shot at you, but i genuinely pity you, and anyone else who has been so caught up in fps that it can actually dissuade them from playing a highly narrative driven game.

I was watching some random DF video the other day and they said "you remember when we thought the ps2 hardware would mean the end of 30fps?", for real, 30fps is never going to go, and it is NOT a prerequisite for a technically impressive game, LEAST of all a story driven one.

Just get pc version when it comes out
if you have a decent one.

Imagine missing to have a great game experience due the “muah 60fps” lol

It will not be the first neither the last console game where 30fps is the best mode to play.

Maybe these that have the eyes bleeding could think about moving to PC… I don’t know but it is not a good thing to keep playing in a platform that hurts you.

I mean if you stay 30 consistently, its probably fine. The problem begins when if you are constantly shifting between 60 and 30, our brain need a bit of time to adjust, 30 fps look extremely choppy right after you've just finished a game in 60 fps

And to PC gamers you can't really blame them, I mean they have been playing at above 60 fps almost their entire life to this point, they could get motion sickness playing at 30, because they need longer time to adjust. Most of them just don't want the hassle and just avoid 30 fps altogether.

Performance mode is so bad that surely something must have been broken with the day one patch or DF should really think about different careers as a man on a galloping horse could see all the shimmering, grain, aliasing and generally terrible IQ.
DF finished and preferred 4k30fps… both John and Richard. They just played the 1800CBR60fps mode for the article/video.

They where very clear the Performance Mode lacks the next-gen feeling.

They didn’t mention how jacked up it looks though, don’t recall any complaints about aa or shimmering. Maybe the version they reviewed was different. It’s pretty awful, GG needs to completely rework the perf mode and get it to at least a clean enough presentation as the last game on PS5.

Glad people are happy with 30 fps, but I can wait as long as it takes before I buy it again.

I'm not one of those people who consider anything under 60 FPS unplayable. I'm more than happy to trade FPS for higher settings on most games.
Hell, I'm running ROTTR with all settings on Ultra with a locked 40 FPS and that suits me just fine, however, while playing around with Rivatuner, I set the FPS cap to 30.
Oh lordy, the nausea I got from that! I literally felt ill!
I don't suffer from sea or car sickness, but the flicker you get with 30 FPS takes me on a express ride to vomitville.
Once I get past 35 FPS the nausea goes away. So I guess that 35 FPS is my bare minimum for gaming.
Anyone else has this problem?
I'm just gonna quote one of the comment from a PC gamer that I've found on the internet.

When they use the term "unplayable" they are not exaggerating, this is really how motion sickness feels like if your brain had been trained to used to 60 fps and above for 20+ years.

The gift of console gamer however, is that they are very adaptable, going from lower frame rate to higher is way easier from going high to low due to the nature of how our brain process movement in real life.

For 9th gen, in order to reach boarder audience, a performance mode option is almost mandatory if they ever wish to reach more player base, especially PC player.

Nah bro, these confused peons think infallible graphics actually does only cost a few hundred bucks

On the 30fps stuff it doesn’t help that one of the main elements of the combat system is having to precisely shoot off robot parts.

I hate 30fps generally but found it was fine in Spider-Man as you rarely need aiming precision and also Ratchet as it is more spray and pray combat. I find the 30fps mode in this very slow and clunky feeling though and I’m constantly reminded that I’m playing a game as it feels like I’m fighting the controls.

I’m sure if you test the input lag it will be just as good as those other games but, to me, it just feels awful to play. I know many are fine with 30fps and they will have a great time I’m sure.

I’ve not tried the gyro aiming but if that feels ok in 30fps then that will help.

Yep folks...shimmering is LESS in performance mode to me than in quality mode. And the new patch update basically fixed most of it.
No it didn’t fix anything on distant foliage/blight/trees, and it’s pretty lame that GG acts like it’s fixed after restarting twice. The aa/reconstruction solution blows. I’ll admit 30fps mode looks incredible, super sharp and high quality textures. Perf mode seems like an after thought, very surprising.

Performance looks perfectly fine imo. Not enough of a jump in quality to sacrifice 60 fps. Tried resolution mode and it felt like shit as soon as the camera moves. No thanks.

The performance mode complaints have to be TV specific because it looks absolutely fine for me...looks next-gen, runs smooth, looks absolutely fine.

I prefer the added fidelity but it's not that big of a deal, some prefer better motion fluidity
I’m with you bro. It’s a sad state people supporting 30, especially influencers like DF. Sure, preferences are totally fine, but sheesh.

But 30 must look pretty nasty in motion on DF oled’s imho. I’m really scratching my head on this one.

I’m not even clear what has been cut back on the fidelity mode, there is literally no detail on this aspect apart from the 4k mode providing more clarity therefore bringing out the intricacies and detail better. But is anything actually lower? LOD, shadow quality, plant deformation!?! What is it!?!

Switched to 30fps. IQ is sooo much better. Wow.

Performance mode while stable and super cool to play just looks like absolute ass. In uncharted I play in the 1080p/120fps mode and it looks „better“ in therms of IQ.

Performance mode is an afterthought and badly implemented.

And it’s not the TV, every other game looked marvelous on my A90J.

I would still like to point out that the 30fps mode is over sharpened. It’s like literally pushing the sharpness slider of your tv to the max. Something is off. A (ever so slight) depth effect would work wonders here.

deffo looks like waiting for a few patches is the best approach on this one, from what I reading.
hope everyone enjoys the game, but I simply cannot go back to 30fps on my oled. It looks like shit.

fingers crossed GG can address is because there seems to be a lot of good noise about how bad the performance mode looks and GG are normally great at looking into things and fixing it.

I’m trying hard to spot shimmering issues in youtube and not having much luck. I’m not buying the game till later cause it’s just not a priority with others I prefer.

But I wonder if some tv sets are not pixel mapping 1:1 and there is some panel scaling causing issues due to the high frequency detail. Overscan or something where pixel 0,0 is not actually the first visible in the top left corner. Dunno

That's exactly my feeling on the game.

So if I want to buy the PS4 version and upgrade to PS5 (I only own a PS5), do I need to download the PS4 version first then upgrade it?

Nope, no need to download the PS4 version beforehand.

Once you buy it, it's in your library or "collection". Then you can browse to the PS5 version (try the web store or the PS App if it doesn't work on console), browse to the PS5 page, and there you will see the option of either adding the game (PS5 version) to your library and downloading it.

There is a bit of a problem. All menus and map run at 60 ;p but thankfully it’s not very noticeable

Even with PS4 disc you can find the free PS5 update from the PS5 main menu under HFW icon, and redeem it and start downloading the PS5 version. (I accidentally started the PS4 download but killed it as soon as PS5 download was running)

It's because fuckers here like to play and judge things on uncalibrated panels with blasphemous sharpness settings and all kind of filters on.

I swear to God, if Guerrilla patches the game to "improve" IQ in order to please such people and by doing so have to downgrade draw distance and such..

And look in the OT here, lots of people playing in Performance who don't understand why are people complaining.

What the hell are people expecting exactly? To play at 60fps the best looking game ever with the same IQ of Native 4K + in-game sharpening on top and no downgrade whatsoever?

Guerrilla chose to give us the exact same game at 60fps, and in order to do so had to rely on reconstructions or sort or whatever they had to do. You don't like it? Play at 30fps and ffs stop making absurd complaints because it's highly unlikely they could possibly improve IQ without having to downgrade other things.. and fuck that.

they Could add a better form of anti aliasing because what’s going on right now is shit I’ll be glad to take lower resolution

You have to laugh at the people saying “I’ll play this on PC on max settings 60fps”

Unless your rocking some hardware from the future or POSSIBLY a 3090 you’ll be playing at 35fps max settings…

This game is graphically a few steps beyond what you get in a game like Cyberpunk 2077 maxed out which runs at roughly 30-40fps on a 3080.

Don’t forget this is running native 4K in quality mode.

Best of luck though I’m sure the 5080 will be out by the time this comes to PC. The Nvidia leak was BS by the way 👍

And you could be a Sony fanboy that can’t accept a overall good looking game has some issues. Amazing how it is always the same people.
Have i ever seen you before?

Jesus, you pick out a few tilted shitslingers over the course of a few days and suddenly you're one of "the same people"

Get fucked lol

This is all graphics whoring, i take shots at the mentality of the dumbasses who try to score ego points by counting pores or peach fuzz, i don't defend the game - it doesn't need defending, it's the best looking game so far released on console and it will be until the next best looking game comes. Red Dead 3 or Halo 2Infinite or whatever it may be.

I would be willing to bet my 3070 will handle it just fine at 60. It certainly has a lot more flops then what’s in either console.

You can’t take a single perceived slight. You crying about people wanting 60 fps. People have different priorities.
I personally can play a game at 30 but prefer 60. Some games run at 30 and feel less sluggish then others.

Interesting.
Doesn’t GOW need a 3080 to run 4k60 native?
No idea. Haven’t played it. There are also many factors to consider. Quality settings can greatly effect what resolution you can run. Also the game used dynamic resolution to hit 4K so it’s not strictly native. Finally I don’t believe GOW uses decima so I don’t see how you can compare the games.

I'm condemning the people who want full resolution at 60 fps, or try to find flaws in a game designed to look peak on a console that's already outdated, where the fuck do i come off as crying about these punks?

People saying the game should be 60fps full detail are laughable, so i and others are laughing at them, if you're not one of them then you should pipe down

I replayed HZD and finished literally minutes before booting up HW. The first thing I'll say is Performance mode is absolute dogshit. It's hilarious that Sony shipped it like this. Five minutes into the beginning and there is a huge sprawl of red blight that is so bad looking that I couldn't believe it. Even Aloy has massive shimmering and aliasing, it's pathetic. A straight 1440p would have been significantly better looking than this abomination. I don't know what their obsession is with CBR but they need to use new techniques for when it isn't appropriate.

As for Resolution mode, while it's absolutely breathtaking, it plays like shit as well. It's fine when you are just walking around but as soon as you get into combat with multiple enemies it feels terrible. Having just finished HZD, and Frozen Wilds in particular, the thought of fighting a Fireclaw or Scorcher at 30 fps makes me want to vomit. Fast paced combat with precise movements feel nearly impossible in this mode.

Honestly, the game is disappointing all around. Both modes have significant drawbacks that make me not even want to play until they either patch the game, or the PC version is released.
