Exactly so when one stands out so much like the twerking one it will likely be more commented on.

I didn't say anything about the quality it adds to the She-Hulk show. :messenger_winking_tongue:

I don't know MCU/Comic She-Hulk enough to say if it's out of character for her.

Nah, you're thinking I was comparing the craftmanship quality of the scenes when I'm talking about how little the scenes add to the overall show and thus they could be more easily judged without seeing the whole episode.

For the record, I don't think that She-Hulk scene was anywhere near as badly done as the Leia chase one. :messenger_fistbump:

It's in character for her. She's a partier... She's even been kicked out of the Avengers for partying too much! So the twerking, 4th wall breaking... Shoot... She even travels between panels and pages to get skip the dialogue LMBO! She's comedy in the comics too... Like Deadpool but less crazy.

When she let go of the steering wheel I thought it was going to be another moment where her 4th wall breaking would have some consequences with her crashing or nearly crashing her car.

In one of the previous episodes someone noticed her speaking to the camera/audience.

Hulk noticed her speaking... Notice that NO ONE ELSE has noticed. He's a hulk so he knows.

You see it on Twitter, you see it here, etc, where some people don't actually discuss the movies or shows they're in the threads about - they're basically just present to be angry and repeat, often verbatim, what some YouTuber told them to feel. And sometimes they're the most prolific posters in the thread! Imagine being so square and dorky that you spend hours upon hours picking fights with strangers on the internet over fucking She-Hulk.

I just ignore them and go on my way now. No reason to be dragged down to their weird, sad level.

It would be convenient to blame Zuckerberg or foreign government sponsored trolls for trying to make everyone hate everything online but at the end of the day we did this to ourselves: "fan" hate sells online "fan" love doesn't unlike the real world where voting with your wallet and supporting a franchise is really all that matters. Online algorithms are voting for you and feeding what ever gets the most attention and eyeballs regardless of quality or mental health detriment. I did an experiment recently and created a brand new TikTok and Youtube accounts and as soon as I indicated I was a fan of Star Wars all I got were the same group of assholes bashing every minute detail of each episode of Obi Wan week to week or tired Rey is Mary Sue arguments sometimes with just outright stupid theories about characters that were disproven mere episodes later...and I'm still getting the same regurgitated crap daily in my feed since that old content continues to rack up views and goes back into my feed. Its weird and I don't know where I'm going with this but I think I'm at the point where I'd rather not discuss some of the things I enjoy online period but at least NeoGaf is pretty balanced and I just skip through stuff I disagree with since its not a bot suggesting it. The thing that bothers me is that you can't just switch channels anymore if you don't like the content the entire platform still feeds you the negative shit so I guess its healthier just to opt out entirely?

You have to tell Youtube not to suggest various channels. Sometimes I would see what Nerdrotic, Yellowflash, Starwarsgirl and Thequartering were saying just for the hell of it out of curiosity. It really does affect you mentally after a while and Youtube would constantly recommend channels of their ilk. After I right clicked and hit the don't suggest channel button, Youtube eventually got the hint and I don't get all those negative channel suggestions. I'll still check those channels out on occasion but not much because I don't agree with any of their styles of "critique".

I made the mistake of watching two consecutive videos from a pair of YouTubers. husband and wife, who apparently traffic in outrage. I mostly agreed with them regarding the writing of a certain show so I cheerfully sat through the first video. A few alarms went off, but nothing major.

About a third into their second video, also on the same topic, I began to think "Christ, these two are really, really angry over some trivial stuff". Like sure, I didn't enjoy the show either, but I wasn't ready to saddle up and march off to the Holy Land over it. So after I finished that second episode I went ahead and let YouTube know that I didn't care for any more content from them.

That was about a year ago. To this day I still get a similar suggestion once a week or so. Some other outrage streamer using the same kinds of dialog, the same simple and often undefined criticisms of art, etc.

My wife was looking for something to watch so I put this on for her while I went and did some work. After about half an hour I notice that there was a lot of screaming and hollering from the living room. Later I asked her how it was. Turns out she dropped it before the first episode ended and was watching “Death becomes her”. She said it was like watching a cartoon - nothing fet real, not the characters and not the dialog.
Fucking great movie.

My wife leans feminist, and she got one look at the promotional material for this show and dismissed it because she thought it looked stupid. Maybe she’d love it if she gave it a chance, but the fact is it turned her off and it is turning a lot of people off, and yet people are acting like there’s no way to come by that opinion honestly. Do you folks really believe all criticism is drummed up from incels who get their marching orders from the quartering? It’s true there’s an industry of negativity on YouTube and I’ve had to stop watching channels that lean into it too much and tell it to stop recommending them, but even though that stuff is an exaggeration it’s rooted in what people are actually feeling or else there would be no audience. Seems like it’s a pretty big cop out for some of you folks to go straight to the incel boogeyman when people don’t like the thing you like. That’s as obnoxious as trying to claim that everyone in this thread that likes the show gets their opinions fed to them by the woke media’s endless propaganda campaign.

My opinion: you and your wife's reactions are completely normal. Society is never going to universally like a given work of art regardless of their previous dispositions or predilections.

But remember: the outrage producers, and especially their audience, aren't typically responding to the art as a whole. Most evident in the fact that many outrage purveyors aren't even watching the shows they're criticizing. So it does no good to compare the honest reactions you and your wife had with the reactions of some guy on the internet who is being lathered up by YouTube then sicced upon a hapless populace who just thinks two women twerking is a bit of forgettable good fun. As an example - I am not claiming that you do.

Man, we really need a new episode lol. We're running out of things about the actual show to talk about here.

First, a bit of a stretch calling she-hulk art. Secondly, channels like nerdrotic and critical drinker do watch the shows and are able to critique the show sensibly.

I like the show. I think making Megan the stallion out to be someone “ great “ is more of a stretch for me more than any “ men are bad “ rants lol

Nothing related to this show on its own, but it's pretty crazy to me that House of the Dragon and Rings of Power are hitting 25 million viewers but none of these MCU and Star Wars shows Disney is pushing can even manage 2 million viewers. You think as big as these franchise are and with the sub numbers Disney is posting at least one would do much better. At one point does Disney see these as flops when compared to other franchise and stop pushing this media out? And how will these low viewership numbers equate to films with these charcters?

They can get into if need be, but they also literally make a living off of being perpetually outraged.

FYI, I just got a new secret leak that Kathleen Kennedy is about to get fired, just like I said for the last 5 years. And make sure to click the bell icon and hit subscribe so we can be mad about it every single day for the next 5 years.

The funniest part of that saga was when one of those idiots posted a video claiming secret insider information that she was going to be fired, and the next day they extended her contract another three years. Almost as if Disney did it to troll them.

How many other shows in general hit the heights of GoT and LOTR? I'm pretty sure the majority of MCU shows top the charts on streaming so I'm pretty sure Marvel are fine with their viewership.

I just realized that her origin story made no sense. Why didnt Bruce auto-transform into the Hulk when the car rolled off the road? We were told before that Banner is pretty much unkillable, he cant even commit suicide by firing a gun into his mouth. Did he lose that ability? So does that mean now some guy can just sneak up behind Banner and shoot him in the head and thats it for the Hulk?

That's what the inhibiter was for... 👀

It doesn't make much sense that he's healing in normal form when Hulk has super healing though.

She's a rapper with fans of every "race" and stripe. Jen is a fan of hers... Plain and simple. YOU don't have to like her to get that.

Yes, they make a living off of it. But how does that discredit the content or points they make?

Oh I get it.. I just don’t think she should be on a Disney show .. or anything really. 🤷‍♂️

LMBO! I'm listening to John Campea right now and he's trashing on dudes bothered by this post credits scene ... Glorious! It's a freaking COMEDY show!

And? At least he's not an outrage YouTuber telling me what to think of a show or movie I haven't seen.
And he absolutely cannot provide good critique. He is a shill who relies on the good grace of studios to get early access. That’s why he cannot be impartial. Youtubers like nerdrotic and critical drinker can dissect a movie and explain what’s good and bad and why.

The fact remains that you still rely on their opinion to form your own ... Which is just parroting someone else's opinion.

I will watch something and come to my own conclusion.

If those YouTubers already tell you WHAT they didn't like, are they really impartial?

I could tell you why I didn't like something and break it down ... But I'm telling and showing you these things colored by my own opinion. It wouldn't be impartial and it's bad faith to say they are.

Do they like ANY Marvel or Disney or Star Wars or other genre property? Or are they all outraged over these but give anything non-disney/non-dc a pass?

Btw, my favorite Superman movie is Man of Steel... And that was opinion before I ever found Campea last year. I went to the theater in 2013, got the blu-ray and even watched it on HBO Max! I also LOVE ZSJL more than he does ... He didn't like Moon Knight or Falcon and the Winter Soldier... I did! Saying he is a shill is stupid when he's not liked plenty of Marvel and DC stuff.

Sounds just as awful as I imagined it.
It's a comedy though and this guy is reviewing it like it's supposed to be representative high drama that should speak to men everywhere.

I think it's just supposed to be funny that women are better at being hulks than men are. And it's completely believable since men's rage gets out of control more easily/frequently than women's and men in general are less graceful and poised than women are. Everything she says in this scene would make most women crack a smile.

Yes it's nodding to woke femininity but as a comedy not taking itself seriously
which I think is not soo bad and certainly not worthy of visceral hate unless youre uber insecure yourself.

A bit strange coming from you since you form your opinions from watching John Campea.

But surely you can have a feel for how something will turn out before you watch it, right? From everything that I’ve seen from The Rings of Power, for example, it was clear that it would be a disaster of a Tolkien-based show. This was confirmed when I watched it.

I like quite a few of the MCU movies - Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, GotG, Infinity War, the last Spider-Man movie. Most of the MCU movies are crap but there’s a few good ones in there.

Star Wars was before my time but I like the original trilogy well enough. Anything after that can be thrown in the trash.

The dance scene in the beginning of gotg2 was the cringiest shit i ever seen and people are defending that horrible shitshow?

Let female hulk shake her ass, still better than fucking teenager root dancing like a mongoloid while his squad get blasted, i was about to leave the movie theater after that...
