Metroid Prime Remastered |OT| Once More Through Tallon IV

I played it with the pro controller. It depends on what you mean by Splatoon style. You can play it two ways with the gyro. One is where it acts like the Wii pointer. The other is basically Cube control with the gyro instead of the joystick. You hold a trigger down and then move the reticle.
Interesting. Thanks for the detailed answer. Sounds like it's not exactly like Splatoon, but more than enough options to find something.

They gave us 3 3D Mario games in one. They're giving us both Baten Kaitos games in one. But only giving us one Prime game and not the trilogy.

I swear I don't get you Nintendo sometimes.
The 3D mario remake was a fucking joke.
Not even 60fps for mario64
When homebrew had this for years. Inc 21:9

The prime game is a remake i LOVE it

Sorry, I'm legit confused. Switch OLED has an OLED screen on the handheld.
I am asking, when the Switch is docked to an OLED television, do you also get OLED there?

I'm not in a console war with you or something, you guys are so sensitive sometimes lol.

Anyone know? Guess I can just Google.
OLED isn't a graphical trick or software solution... it's hardware. Your TV is either OLED or isn't, independent of the docked Switch.

Thanks. I think I get it then, if that means you basically get the benefits of OLED, no matter what you have plugged into it.

I was under the impression that it was more like HDR, where you can have an HDR capable console, but if your television isn't HDR capable, it's not enabled.

The main benefit of the OLED Switch is the screen while using undocked. When docked it's the exact same experience across OG and OLED Switch.

As long as your actual TV screen is an OLED then yes, it doesn't matter which Switch you are using when docked.

The OLED Switch gives that same/similar OLED quality once it's undocked

AFAIK Switch doesn’t output HDR, but there’s there’s definitely a noticeable upgrade going to OLED whether on the portable screen or docked. I have an OG launch day Switch and upgrading my TV certainly still made picture quality better docked.

Why? I am just asking about Switch OLED and how it relates to an OLED television. I can't help but get the feeling I triggered you or something, because it's a weird reaction to a basic question.

I'm trying to find the part where it seems like a secret troll-post, because it feels like that's what you're reacting to. Otherwise, why so hostile about an OLED Switch question? It's idiotic to not know how a Switch OLED works? C'mon guy, not everyone is in your bubble.

This thread is hostile af lol.

Because no one believes you are that stupid, SafeOrAlone.

To end this farce, no - an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) screen on the Nintendo Switch does not somehow magically change your TV into an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode).

This is so good. Such an amazing remake.

I do have to say I'm not sure why they are not giving controls that are both gyro and joystick, like splatoon 2/3. It would've been so much easier. I'm still a bit struggling, found the hybrid best for me (don't like dual analog).

That's not what I asked...I never asked if a non-OLED televison would become OLED with the Switch attached. I asked about OLED benefits when using both a Switch OLED and an OLED television. Try reading that again.
Three other people just filled me in, without having a fit, but thanks anyway.

And thanks for your faith in my intelligence, but the truth is I just wasn't informed on how OLED tech works. You are simply getting super defensive and acting like this is some kind of attack on your favorite console, from what I'm seeing. Frankly, I'm not even sure how you view that as an attack, but the way you're reacting makes it clear that you do.

Literally the only benefit of the OLED switch is the OLED screen. So, its "benefits" would suggest the OLED Screen.

Not my favorite console at all. In fact, it is my least favorite Nintendo console of all time (discounting Virtual Boy). Nor do I view anything you wrote as an "attack", just a poorly thought-out troll post - of which there are too many in an OT thread already. Apologies that you were genuinely asking though. I assumed that you were like Jaysius and others.

"The only benefit of the OLED switch is the OLED screen." Great, that answers my question. Sort of. You don't benefit from having an OLED Switch and an OLED television combined. They each just do their own thing.
Three other people already answered it though, so thanks anyway.

"So it's benefits would suggest the OLED screen" - no idea what you're trying to say here. Doesn't really make sense in conjunction with the previous sentence either.

Nothing about this was a "troll post". I was asking the question because I'd like to play this game on a big-screen, using OLED tech, which I've never used. I didn't want to play it at 900p, but thought playing with OLED tech on a big screen might alleviate that for me.

It sounds like they wanted to preserve some of the limitations on movement, so you feel like you have to stop and aim. But I'm just going off of people's descriptions here so I could be way off. Splatoon is the gold standard, agreed. Oh well.

Just ordered, Thanks!

Hmm I wonder if Amazon is actually going to ship on the 13th? I assume the since the game is officially released they will ship once stock becomes available. Hopefully that Feb 22nd date was a "worst case scenario" as far as stock availability goes
So I guess it doesn’t have an official street date so stores are able to sell it as soon as they get it. Someone posted a snapshot alluding to that.

I think you're confusing OLED with HDR... OLED is just the screen technology, you'll get all OLED features from an OLED screen no matter the content source. HDR in another hand must be supported by both devices and the source content.

Yeah, you nailed it. I thought OLED was basically just a step in tech above HDR, but I'm starting to get it now. Thanks.

I was explaining the thought process to why I thought you were trolling and apologized. Please learn to read what I wrote.

It doesn't read that way, but okay, I am down to get along.

Anyway, I am now looking into OLED televisions. I want to play this bad.

Let the age of shadow drops begin.

Are your impressions from playing in handheld mode? If not, would you mind telling us what you’re playing on? Monitor, TV, size, etc. Even 1080p will look grainy to many people on larger screens (60+ inches).
I'm playing on a 55 inch OLED LG B6 model (2016). Don't forget to activate High resolution in TV paramaters.

How's the gameplay hold up after all this time? I'm wondering if the game builds to a nice crescendo by the end. The kind you get from the best adventure games. Never beat it back in the day.

This is an amazing surprise since I didn't keep up with the direct yesterday. I'll have to get this pre-ordered for a physical copy since it will be a blast of nostalgia on multiple fronts for me. Hopefully we'll get the second and third game done this way too before Prime 4 since I must admit I never finished the second one after getting near the end. But I don't want to say that and make Prime 4 take even longer since we've been waiting forever it feels like and that's what I bought the Switch for.

One thing I'm looking forward to seeing is how the doors will work now. I have such an ingrained memory of moving through some areas and if you were fast enough you could shoot the door and get to it while the Gamecube optical drive had a heart attack trying to load the next area. I don't know why but that's one thing that stands out to me in my memory of playing the original release.

Sir, OLED refers to the display technology. For example, if I hook up a Game Boy game to an OLED TV via Super Game Boy, I will "get Game Boy in OLED".

OLED is not a feature, like HDR. It's a display tech, like CRT or plasma.

Edit: everyone else already answered this lol

Wow this game is incredible so far. My first time playing. It's what a 3d metroid game should be. Did this not get good sales? Why has there been no new games since the wii, 15 years ago?

I would love if castlevania and other metroidvania games got similar styles 3d entries. This rocks. And I love the attention to detail. The colors pop on the switch and it looks so good.

It sold well, for GameCube, but GameCube was not a successful system. I do think MP3 was a sales disappointment and then Retro moved on to make the equally amazing DKCR games.

I think the first one sold a bit less than 3m, second one did less than a million, and the third did 1.3 (according to wiki). And I think Nintendo kinda felt they had no where to go with the series, it did feel somewhat repetitive. I think they are smart to space the Metroids out, I think this June will get to see MP4 and I really hope they make it feel fresh with as much attention to detail as the earlier versions.

OLED is a screen technology. If your TV isn't an OLED and your OLED Switch is plugged into the TV, the Switch won't improve your visual output on your TV. The only way to have an OLED TV is to buy one.

Yes, this part I understand.

I was asking whether you’d see OLED benefits while using both an OLED television and Switch. Thanks.

Unless you are looking at some other TV (not OLED) in the room, you will definitely see the OLED benefits on your OLED TV. Thanks to your OLED TV being OLED.

What if I am wearing sunglasses? These are very dark sunglasses.

Btw, I apologize to the OLED gods for not knowing how OLED works. I have offended many of your disciples. I assumed you were like HDR tech and for that I am sorry. As a form of self-inflicted punishment, I will be playing all my games in greyscale for the rest of the week. Praise OLED.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I haven't played this since it originally came out on Gamecube. I never finished it, and never played the sequels.

I'm kinda looking forward to this.

I don't like OLED. Nor LCD. CRT the only true display.

If you understand how OLED works now, then good for you ;)

It does seem far more than advertised as a simple remaster. Pretty impressive.

As for the game - Prime was always one of the most overrated games I could think of. Never clicked with me.
I could just feel the western design and art style washed over the entire game - where the original Metroids oozed Japanese originality and strange-ness.
I cant place my finger on it - but thats always been my impression.

It’s your opinion, but it’s wrong. The game is and will forever be one of the best games of that generation.
