How are people surprised and thought Rocksteady would want to push a mediocre game out there.

On what basis people are thinking this decisions. Off their track record of literal excellent games ?

They fucked up the genre they decided to make and pretty much have to commit but no way Rocksteady will put out a bad game, no way. The story is going to surprise a lot of people I bet

Nice to see a bit of positivity.

And to think some people said the game looked awesome, and ready to pay full price for it at the last reveal. Some of you need to really raise your standards.

Reboot it and delete all the sources Rocksteady please, game fate is already in title anyway.

This is factually incorrect and is misinformation.

There are plenty of successful GaaS games besides Destiny 2

Fortnite
Warframe
Sea of Thieves
Apex Legends
World of Warcraft
FF 14
Warzone 2
Destiny 2
Hearthstone

Blizzard is also on the verge of releasing Diablo 4 which is being marketed as a GaaS game and so is their next gen survival game Oddysey.
I meant Looter Shooter style of GaaS. Games specifically set up in the style of Destiny and WarFrame. It's nuts how many of those exist and so few of them do good.

The delay won’t change the game from being GaaS 🤷‍♂️

Just release it now. The sooner the better. And start work on a type of game people actually want them to make.

Not that I was anticipating this but damn how this game has done a bang up job of eroding anticipation.

Coming with equity like a Rocksteady had makes this more disappointing.

Who's making the decisions to make an IP based in the Suicide Squad? I'd be happy with an evolution of Batman or something else that at least doesn't feel like Batman trained.

I blame management at whatever level, Microsoft, and the the Amish.

OOF

Hope they make the most of that delay then. Would be a damn shame for them to delay it that much only to have it be subpar or launch with issues in 2024.

I'm a huge DC fan but this shit just scream dogturd, it look more like Fortnite DC mod than a proper DC game, and idk if it can be saved at this point, the core aspects always look totally messed up.

Hard to believe the same studio made the legendary Arkham Trilogy.

This certainly is more than just optimisation and bug fixes. But not enough time to make a u-turn on the game design.

There’s no way this is going to end well..

This ain't going to mean anything. Can't polish a turd to be something else in that short a time frame, so yeah...they should've just delayed it even further so maybe it'd have a chance to become a better game.

It's true. But it's still a polished turd. Let's see how much better it gets (not expecting miracles).
Oh yeah 9 months for polish.

If this game, at the Sony reveal, had all praise and excitement then I’d bet there would have been no delay for “polishing”

I’m not attacking you, I just feel that it’s, only for polishing, is not the real reason.

(they probably just didn't want to tell him they'll be crunching the next 9 months to make some changes)
i'm guessing the game'll undergo the same type surgery that was performed on gotham knights (focusing on the single-player aspect), but that it'll prove to be no more successful an effort than it was with the other. i did finally play gotham knights, & it was basically the hollow, mediocre (&, yes, cringe-inducing) arkham wannabe that people'd anticipated it'd be. i really can't see suicide squad not going down this same road...

it's a shame that this's what rocksteady's been reduced to...

They're definitely going to change major parts of the game with that delay. I'm glad they're taking the criticism to heart but seriously how in the fuck did the game make it THIS FAR into development without anyone important realizing this will bomb as-is?

Well they only made a handful of games with Arkham franchise being their main showcase.

Good track record for a single player BATMAN game yes, no track record for anything else than that and their first attempt to something different looks horrible. I have no doubt the story will be interesting.

It's been in development so long and already delayed. Not sure what they will do in a year to drastically change what they've made so far.

BioWare had a track record of literal excellent games…
… yet they still made Anthem.

Crystal Dynamics was coming off a series of highly rated, narrative driven games (new Tomb Raider)…
... then made The Avengers.

This is not the Rocksteady that made the Arkham games. Like BioWare and Crystal Dynamics before them, they are a studio in name only being run by executive suits trying to get a piece of the GaaS pie using the studio name for goodwill and marketing.

Its quite a delay but i won't see them change the core game. Maybe they retool the GaaS or something. But I doubt they will change the cheap ass F2P look of this game. Even Gotham Knights looks far better.

For an AAA studio who's last game was Arkham Knight years ago, this was probably the coldest reception ever. No one wants this game.

Imagine if they had worked on a Batman Beyond game instead. Kids woulda loved it and older Arkham/series fans too. Or even a Justice League game. Or Teen Titans. Or Superman. OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN SUICIDE SQUAD: GAAS EDITION. WHO IS THIS FOR?!

Season 2 Smh GIF by The Lonely Island
Thing is wb saw suicide squad dc film being somewhat successful and thought it was gonna be the next Megatron franchise ala Avengers. So they went with a gaas game to maximize profit through that long term 'engagement'.

Weak/poor management unwilling to fight against the suits on what the fans/consumers actually want and expect from them post 2020. This game was clearly made as a knee jerk reaction to the GAAS/Fortnite Boom pre 2017...it's now 2023 and the GAAS market is not in the same place it was 8 years ago.

Yet despite this, no one fought (or fought but repeatedly lost) management on it, and management didn't fight the suits. In fact key talent and leadership decided to just jump ship instead as they saw where this was headed and wanted no part.

A year is not enough to rebuild, they'll probably just retool some of the current gaas systems; if you weren't interested before, you still won't be after the delay
