Going to try it tommorow, but just to confirm, this game has real time combat like elden ring or zelda, no longer the old menu based real time battles?

Let’s see, everyone praising graphics but not talking much about gameplay.. check.

Going to download in a bit after I get my kids off to school.
The main portion of the demo is cutcene heavy that's why. But the gameplay even with limited/beginner skills feels really good. Once you finish the main demo you unlock a 2nd mode where you can test how the game will play in later levels.

The prologue is story-heavy in a good way, but you definitely get to do some combat. The game rewards you for parrying, dodging, and using the shift attack. The music is enchanting and perfect. The world they've built is incredible and the storyline and characters are highly engaging. Combat is fun and challenging enough, and sure to get deeper and more difficult as the game progresses. I just got to the part you take control of Joshua and decided to call it a night(it's 3am here:messenger_moon:).

I can already tell this game is special from what I've played so far. Gonna be a magical experience.

Yep it’s real time combat. I’ve played for over an hour so far and there hasn’t been any pause mechanic introduced either (like in FF7 Remake) so it seems that it’s completely real time.

Demo is great but performance could certainly be better. Combat is fine but running around drops quite a bit

Excited Arrested Development GIF

Add me to the list of "I can't until a few more hours because I have to be a grown up and get my work done, etc". But I'm sooooooooo looking forward to it, very interested to see what they've been cooking up with XVI, because I'm enjoying XIV a lot.

Death to motion blur. Graphics mode on the LG C2 hurts my eyes in this game as expected during gameplay although not as bad as Horizon:FW I think. It's fine during cutscenes though. Still, i'll have to move the PS5 to the Qled if im going to play the game in that mode. Game looks beautiful in graphics mode. Performance takes a noticeable hit in graphics but of course performs better(yet still not ideal on the C2). In this game though, I think im going to stay with graphics mode for a while at least when I switch over. Again, I wish I had my old Plasma TV for this. SIgh.

Demo is feeling great so far but have to go to work.

60fps when traversing in performance mode. Different than what those previews were saying. Probably because of the build they were on.

First impressions: this game is gonna be a classic

I was someone who wasnt sold on the graphics, but fuck me, this is a next gen game. To think that everything that you are seeing is running in real time, even huge battles with multiple NPCs with different animations + eikons battling on top of everyone is insane.

Lighting in particular is impressive. Everything looks so consistent. And shout out to the PBR in the gold materials, it looks just like the real thing.

Performance is rough tho. I'm playing in performance mode, and I'm pretty sure that it dips to 30's while just walking around.

It also looks really, really blurry unfortunately. Probably due to a bad TAA implementation, but I've seen 1080p games looking sharper.

Gameplay is excellent. Havent been able to play a lot, 'cause I'm going to work now, and I've just played the combat tutorial, but it controls like a dream.

And even at 30 FPS (Quality mode) controls are snapy. Way better than many 30 fps games. Like a Souls game on consoles, but with Vsync enabled. Dont know how they did it.

I'm way more hyped for the game now. This one will be special.

Well it’s a mix that’s going to turn a lot of people off from it.
I found it funny how the developers were saying that they want to convince fans of non action games to enjoy action based games. So if you’re not a fan, enjoy whatever it is they’re doing now.

I love it when a publisher has the confidence in their product to not only release a playable demo early but include the entire opening section of the game *and* allow the save to be carried over to the full release. We don't see that very often these days. Already got the game pre-ordered so I will absolutely be playing the demo tonight and then continuing the game properly once I get it next week.

I wasn’t talking about the gameplay. FFVIIR was basically action. Not expecting FF to go back to turn based combat ever. I’m talking about the dark tone of the game that desperately wants to be a HBO show with cussing and sex.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
could someone PLEASE take a screenshot of the control layout settings (as well as the optional ones if there is one)?

Downloaded it... but I'm at work.

FUCK AND THERE IS CAPCOM WITH DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 TODAY AS WELL! I WANT TO GO HOME ASAP.

Gentlemen, i'm gonna be completely honest here, I'm going to be playing this on a...PS5 Pro.
The performance is just not there, I got a friggin' migraine from all the damned fluctuations while.trying the demo on "performance" mode and especially during the cutscenes where the framerate is usually sits at mid-40s and rarely reaches 60, it's just...not a good look, either lock the damned cutscenes at 30fps and have the main gameplay at (almost) 60 or don't bother at all, shit's migraine inducing and I'm not even kidding.

- Performance mode = unlocked framerate mode with HEAVY fluctuations.

- Graphics mode = 30fps but, on an OLED is just...not good, I mean, I turned off 120Hz , VRR and ALLM on my PS5 just to be able to try Motion pro on my C2 (Motion interpolation) but it was obviously still a shit show due to the artifacting and weird judder.

Also : graphically it's a mixed bag, most character models look good but also "flat" depending on the lighting conditions with the blonde woman especially looking almost like a late PS3 model polygon/quality-wise and some texture work is questionable and so on so forth.

There's just no good in-between or alternative here as to have the game run well ffs and I'm actually friggin' disappointed, this NEEDS to be on better hardware as to have it run properly, that, or square enix is bad at optimization, I don't know.

I don't know what I expected but this surely ain't it.

There's not really much of either. Cussing is barely there and so far no HBO kind of sex. Its also still very much filled with FF elements imo.

Just play the demo.
