Can Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on PC match - and exceed - the PS5 experience?

no problem occurs on pretty much randomly on anything

its a fundamental issue that is never fixed. I'm not saying it is an hardware issue, I'm just saying it is never fixed because most of the folks playing on PC probably thinks the textures look like that by default and shrugs it off (considering they think it is a 2018 ps4 game)

"Matching" PS5 settings including RT on high doesn't help with this?

That was an hour of struggle listening to Alex lol even a beast set up couldn't 100% replicate the PS5 version during the portal sequences I didn't expect that it could be a bug and I'm not even gonna touch on the HDD it's unbelievable people actually thought Insomniac and Cerny was lying and this game could've launched on PS4 smh it was never about PC that was always a disingenuous argument but whatever man after a week people will go back to their same talking points 😴

sadly it didn't. clearly it is some kind of weird engine behaviour with ray tracing enabled. but I'm seeing some conflicting reports above that textures are fine with ray tracing on some others. I too wonder now if it is actually a mistake on alex's end or not in the case of ratched and clank

Almost every is an overly optimistic statement. Do you know that PS5 is backward compatible with PS4 which has a catalog of thousands of games right? Or Xbox SX which is also backward compatible with a lot of 360 and some xbox orig games right? Which can also be found very cheaply. :messenger_winking:
Point us games that still have significant problems.

And do you want really to compare the number of games on PC including emulation with PS5/XBX library? Plus all these games having the best IQ/resolutions, frame rates, controllers, mods, etc, etc...

You still get cheaper games and not having to pay for online... the high investment pays for itself with all the deals available on PC. Infinite backwards compatibility and a large variety of customization options for your OS. Modding capability and better support for older games thanks to fan patches and mods to make them play superior to remasters and BC on console.

And of course, the reason this thread even exists- we get more games coming to our platform thanks to console companies not being able to ignore the money available on PC. Having the entire library of NES, Master System, SNES, Megadrive, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, PS3, Wii U, GBA, DS, 3DS, Switch, Arcade systems, all on one platform for around 800-900. Even with the inflated hardware prices compared to 2016 it's still a very good value, IMO
You can have retroarch in Xbox SX and also PS2, wii and dreamcast, emulators. Not to mention xbox backwards compatibility.

Lol cmon man. I paly on a 48" oled lg c1 on my desk. I use it as a monitor
what do you think I am stupid and use upscaling/ai crap?! Everything is disabled.
You would know that game optimizer mode on lg c1 disables most of "ai" and upscaling crap. I have sharpness enhancer turned off as well. it doesn't do anything in the background. Ps5 outputs 4k image in any case. there would be nothing to upscale by the tv anyway as pure signal is 4k, no matter if game is running 1080p or 1440p res.
I am getting exactly 100% monitor experience out of that tv... except with lower lag, faster pixel response times, oled blacks and amazing hdr.

We are not talking about playing a game on sony bravia in 2008 here with smooth motion turned on.

before you can counter any of that, look at some reviews. lg c range of tvs is amazing. And I only got 2 years old c1.

I meant the old HDtvs when i mentioned the input lag response, also use a monitor with DisplayPort cable so you can avoid HDMI auto enhancements, i have a 65 C2 2022 btw :D

It’s because it is weird and because there will be patches. What do you think he should say?
Are you kidding me?
Alex spends good 2 minutes going... "eee, maybe it looks different? I don't know" "are my settings right, maybe I changed something"
And textures never load. He almost sounds like Elon Musk when the tesla window broken. You know, like a person selling you something but then there is a big scratch on it "oh is there a scratch? oh yeah maybe it... no problem it will buff out"
I mean YEAH he acknowledges it finally but he sounds a bit apologetic maybe?

And that's low res compared to RT performance mode on ps5. I am sure 4k mode looks even better on ps5.

There are no HDMI auto enhancements !!!
HDMI 2.1 is awesome and maybe even better than DP recently!
The only problem with ps5 on lg c1/c2 is the 422 color range due to lower 40gbps bandwidth. But I tested it a lot and I cannot spot the difference.
C2 is so awesome man, good for you :D

Good game, three hours in and I'm really enjoying myself. Can't believe how well it runs on a humble 1080.
Nuke the film grain and reduce motion blur (turning it off completely makes Digital Foundry cry).

I mean, it would not make sense that a better spec would run the game lower. That's why his first reaction is exactly that.

So the issue is with the engine. Wait for Nixxes to fix it and move on.

that's a fair point. However it's much harder to get it working on Xbox and it's not guaranteed. not to mention not all emulators are available on Retroarch, like Yuzu. and Ryujinx.

PLus you'd need to pay 20 for a dev account to get one, on PC it's entirely free.

Also, on Xbox you'd have to emulate older games that already have a PC port. Re-Volt for example has a PC version Via RVGL that cannot be played on xbox because there is no existing port. Doesn't sound like a big deal until you realize that RVGL has more current online play, modding capabilities, tournaments, etc. Or Mario 64, which you'd have to play via a browser/N64 emulator on Xbox meanwhile there's a native PC version available, with cheats, mods, graphical enhancements, and achievements. There's a LOT of situations like this.

this has been debunked through multiple sources as not being a issue for anyone else like it was for him. Some have seen texture issues here and there, but not repeating like Alex did.

I am 100% sure they will patch it on. of course.
Moving forward - the shadows on the blizar plane look awful on pc! Just because rt can be used, doesn't men it always should be.
+af looks better on ps5.

The black moving shadows are a big reason this level looks awesome. On pc the shadows are to diffused and not moving. Probably due to rt < artistry

same problem with hbao, it will look worse than native ssao most of the time (was the case with spiderman. they tweaked and patched it thrice. it still ends up looking worse than native ssao here and there. so effort was pointless. it is clear that consoles games are prepared with one pipeline of graphics in mind. I usually don't like your mindset of "don't put this or that setting if it is useless!1" but this is one case I'd be on the same level with you. if you are not going to test a graphical option's outcomes, do not put it there. last of us part 1 also had a similar issue where some light reflection would poof away with a certain ultra setting. as a matter of fact, rdr2 is also full of such options

They must be under some embargo or marketing deal because every time there is something slightly wrong on pc, like blocky shadows or disappearing shadow or tiny bit longer loading times, Alex is going out of his way to only comment with "hmm interesting. That's a weird behavior but there will be patches".
I mean, I understand it's not worth critiquing but just something I've noticed.

A few pics j ust because... also i didnt even realize there were a few options that go to ultra that are not on a preset.. :messenger_astonished:

Hogwarts on ultra settings completely fucked up the reflections. You had to switch to High to get reflections back.

Of course, since ultra settings also controlled particle effects and other visual settings, it meant you were downgrading your game just to get reflections back.

I think Nixxes needs to calm down. This is what 3 ports in a span of a year? either reduce the scope of these ports or take your time. Im guessing Sony wants them to move on to Spiderman 2 asap and forced them to rush this out. It took them a year to port Spiderman after the acquisition, and only 3 months to do Miles. Im guessing Sony wants Spiderman 2 out on PC asap instead of their typical 1-2 year gap. Im guessing a march release like TLOU Part 1.

Who does this ????

Which one of you mfers zoom in a fucking NPC alien eye just to see if there is a proper green plant casting from his eye????? ?

Fuck man! I have a 7800X3d with 4090 and I Can't tell the difference between fuckall unless it's like super obvious like antialiasing shit.

Get a life god damn..
And here we have a reaction from an actual gamer who is too busy enjoying himself to care about PS5 PC wars on forums.

That being said... the low res textures in gameplay CAN be very noticeable at times.

Unfortunately that's classic PCMR behavior from Battaglia, not much else to say.

I'm honestly most impressed by how well the PS5 Performance RT mode (which is not the best looking mode on PS5) holds up next to the PC version maxed out on many times more expensive hardware. The few things that do look slightly better on PC are things you don't really notice during normal gameplay (and then there's the stuff that actually looks worse in that version). Even the image quality on PS5 (which in this mode I think is 1440p upsamled to 4K using Insomniac's own method) looks very comparable to 4K with DLSS Quality.

Entire game is 38gb on disk, Just put the whole thing in my RAM I have 64gb...
They put just 11GB in System ram and 9GB in VRAM when you get to Blizar Prime and switch levels by striking the crystal. The system ram and vram usage remains identical through out. So the entire levels are already in the 9GB of vram. Just like I had speculated all this time. The SSD seems to be taxed during the big portal setpieces which is why they themselves had said that those portals planet hopping sequences will be limited to setpieces.
