Helldivers II achieved a higher all time Steam CCU peak than the whole catalog from PS Studios, Microsoft Game Studios, Activision, Bethesda, EA, 2K, Rockstar, Ubisoft, Valve, WB, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, Koei Tecmo, Techland, Embracer with only these following exceptions:

Counter-Strike GO/2 (1,818,773, F2P)
Dota 2 (1,295,114, F2P)
Elden Ring (953,426)
Hogwarts Legacy (879,308)
CoD (491,670)
Fallout 4 (472,962)
Life is Strange 2 (468,717)
GTAV (364,548)
Starfield (330,723)
Counter-Strike (319,586, F2P)
Skyrim (287,411)

These are the all time Steam CCU peak for the Sony PS Studios games released on PC:

Helldivers II 276,364
God of War: 73,529
Spider-Man Remastered: 66,436
Horizon Zero Dawn: 56,557
TLOU Part I: 36,496
Days Gone: 27,450
Spider-Man Miles Morales: 13,539
Uncharted collection: 10,851
Ratchet Rift Apart: 8,757
Detroit: 8,222
Helldivers 1: 6,744
Death Stranding: 6,093
Guns Up!: 2,277
Journey: 1,757
Predator Hunting Grounds: 1,504
Beyond Two Souls: 1,346
Heavy Rain: 747
Sackboy: 610
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture: 191

Around that time they will have the remaining important bugs (the matchmaking) fixed, a great amount of great reviews in the media, the user ratings in Steam very improved compared to now and I assume they'll have published the first post launch Warbond/extra unlockables.

So I think they will have passed their peak, which I think will be at around 400-450K aprox. and then will have came down at 300K peak per weekend.
Those are some incredibly optimistic projections.

Indeed. I'm mostly just amused by the inclusion of PUBG as F2P, but the 3.2 million record was set well before the game was F2P.

Also looks like servers are at capacity, so pushing the concurrent user count much further is going to be a tall order if that doesn't get sorted soon. I expect this weekend to be peak and will start seeing decline by next weekend. How much? Who knows, but I wouldn't count on next weekend setting a new peak high.

Ya. And H2 CCU also slaughtered all the other Sony games too. At 276k, it's got almost as many CCU than all the other Sony games combined.

And thats good news for PC gamers because that'll show management there is a giant PC base who will play their games as long as they dont make them delayed ports.

So that means more day one GAAS games and more itching inclinations to do SP day one.

Halo CCU was dethroned. If someone had told me last week that this game would be such a hit I would have laughed in their face. The game exceeded my wildest expectations and is the most fun multiplayer game I’ve played in years. I’m happy to see it doing so well. Sony needs to buy Arrowhead now if they know what’s good for them :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Think it won't go much higher unless the add more capacity, which I don't think they will. They are struggling to cope as is.

But the game is super fun, and can look fantastic at times. (PC). Had a blast tonight, issues asside. I wonder if it has legs? Seem to be a fair amount to go at.

I don't think anybody expected this big of a success - not even Arrowhead or Sony. It's common to have problems like these when you prepare for something and receive a much, much better reception.

It's like hosting a party for 30 people, and you end up having 150 at your place just because it was so awesome.

They are hiring more folks and have already called in additional developers this weekend. So they're preparing things. They have already increased capacity. Previously, it was capped at 350K CCU, but now it is hosting roughly 550K across PC and PS5.

As far as legs go, that all depends on how they support with interesting content. I think for the next few months they are packed. They will introduce the 3rd faction and some new enemies and stratagems that will keep the game going. Then they have ridable mechs planned as well - which would be insanely fun. The director has also hinted that they have planned a much more ambitious roadmap after the success of the game, which makes the old roadmap look very outdated. So there is hope.

Even if the game settles to 15K-20K daily peak CCUs, it will be at par with other popular live-service games.

So far when I’m able to play it’s a really fun game.

Not sure why people have been so quiet about its shortcomings though. Each one of my points below on other games seem to get their own threads.

-Matchmaking has been a mess.
-anti aliasing is atrocious. (Running 4K ultra on a 4090)
-no DLSS in 2024?!
-tried playing tonight and the servers are full? Absurd.
-Paid game full of microtransactions

Look I absolutely despise microtransactions but this game has the most restrained use of them I’ve seen in years.

You can earn enough super credits to buy the premium battle pass within a couple weeks, which is 1000 “super credits” ($10). The 4 items that rotate in the store range for 75 credits to 250 credits. Then there’s the free battle pass which gives you 700 super credits. Everything else in the game is earned through playing the game itself. Having microtransactions at all sucks, yes. Especially for a paid game. It’s by no means full of them though.

As for the matchmaking, it’s a temporary set back to an otherwise stellar game. People are probably more forgiving because of that. The devs being so open about what’s happening doesn’t hurt either.

Yep. I have played for ~30 hours so far and have earned 1,000+ super credits, enough to unlock the premium Warbond (battle pass). I also have yet to unlock the free super credits bundle in the normal warbond (via medlas); I have been saving medals.

So I have almost 1,500 super credits after playing the game for 30 hours.

That is WAYY more than enough.

Fully aware how stuff works.

Your party analogy doesn't really work either as we all bought tickets, they know the capacity before and therefore tickets should be limited if everyone cant fit through the door at once. You dont keep selling tickets once your house is full.
Always best to have a pre party(beta) like normal people to gauge interest and see if your venue is big enough.

Isn't Halo Infinite MP free?

It'd honestly one of the stress free MP game I played in a while. Even when someone messes up, you just laugh it off.

Are you seriously suggesting they should stop selling the game and maybe even delist it temporarily so people can't buy?

Well i would argue that for a game like helldivers 2 piracy is not much of a issue compared to their no DRM Sp games. 🏃‍♂️
