Still tough to decide who I root for most. On the one hand there's Messi (and of course Masch) who make me want to root for Argentina. As someone who likes Barca it will be nice to see them lift the trophy. But on the other hand Masch stopped Robben from scoring just the other day and kept us out the final. On top of that Argentina hasn't played any brilliant for basically the whole tournament. But they are very solid and can rely on one or two Messi brainfarts each game.

Then there's Germany who have played a nice games like the ones against Portugal and Brazil. But also had some boring ones in which they under performed against Ghana and Algeria. But they have been showing some of the best team performances troughout the tournament with good football too. But me being Dutch is making it hard to root for the Germans. I do have German blood though, my dad was born there. But since he only lived in Germany for about seven years he thinks about Germany the same way the average Dutcman does. As a kid I once ignored that fact though, I rooted for Germany in 2002 when we weren't there.

Okay, nobody should win, for my peace of mind.

OK, you lost me here. First you're talking about overperforming and now this? Please, I'm sure there have been worse teams to get that far. And giving that German team that performed very, very well throughout that entire tournament, home advantage or not, a dubious honor such as that is a little too much.
Worse teams have surely made it that far, yea, take South Korea or Turkey in 2002. But I don't think a worse team than 2006 Germany has ever managed to win the whole thing. Of course it's difficult to make meaningful comparisons between different ages, but all World Cup winners teams, regardless of their actual performances during the Cup itself, were world class teams filled with top level players, while that German team had one such player (Ballack) and a couple of promising youngsters (Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Podolski), alongside a squad consisting of simply mediocre players, they were nowhere near World Cup winning level. And they didn't win it, being deservedly defeated by a better team, so all it's good.

If Germany wins, they'll reach us (Italy) at four stars.
If Argentina wins, they'll be reaching Germany at three stars.

I guess i should be rooting for Argentina, but Germany has given me some of the most fun fooball matches in the last years, so i hope this team wins something.

Definitely rooting for Germany, if that little shit wins we won't hear the end of it from the plastic Barca fans.

Wow don't need to be that humble :p.

Brazil just didn't really play as a team this tournament. Individually, there's still a lot of class.

?
I don't get it. Really, I want Messi to win a WC. I just prefer that it's not this one because we'd never hear the end of it. lol

As for Brazil, Scolari needs to go ASAP.

Who are the faves for Golden Ball? Mueller for me if Germany wins and Mascherano if Argetina claims the trophy

Supporting Germany but will not be sad if Argentina takes it. Messi deserves a WC.

Nobody deserves a WC. You have to go out there and take it. Messi hasn't done that and has been carried by the team these past few rounds.

I'm going to be neutral in this one as far as rooting interest for a bunch of reasons.

But I think Argentina will pull it off. They've gotten better every game and it's not like it's a team bereft of talent. I'm still not convinced with Löw either.

Going to my first public viewing event this year. Just couldn't get excited for this cup. Hopefully Germany wins it. The team deserves it, a lot of nice lads who went through the hardship of losing some high-profile matches, but also some cunts in it (Lahm, Götze, Löw).

Only thing I really hate is everything surrounding this team, the german media, commentators, so called football experts and certain groups of fans. I have never seen so mindnumbling stupid coverage of a WC before. Horrible. If Germany loses I will certainly enjoy the bitterness of those fucking cunts.

Just read in the Dutch news that Coca Cola held a Fifa sponsor pool party last night in the German player hotel with diner and live music that kept going, there was even fighting among the guests .
German team was not amused .

What are you smoking? Di Maria's goal was wholly created by Messi's movement. Messi was the only player creating Argentinian threads coming from deep in the right, moving up field and then tossing it over the top to Lavezzi, Perez or Higuain who had a ton of space because De Jong was facing up Messi the entire match.

Should've sent them some naked Argentinian escort girls to go with that pool party.

Yes forty years on, still salty.

I'm confident in Germany, but I wouldn't be surprised if we go to extra time because that's just how these finals go.

Think Argentina's back four have been much better than I expected coming into the tournament. That said, Germany has so much class in the middle and last third of the pitch, and I really feel like this is their year with that mix of veteran savvy (Lahm, Schweini) and the youth along the rest of the team. Feels very Spain '10 to me in the "It's finally fucking time."

If Low doesn't stupidly move Lahm to CDM, think Germany will do a solid job squeezing whoever Argentina has on the touchlines. That said, Argentina's been pretty poor on crosses, so maybe leaving midfield as the only option isn't as big of a disadvantage as it would typically be.

For the first time since 2002, I wouldn't mind either result. So that's already a win for me!

Germany 2-1.

Fucking weather. It has been raining during the semifinal and it probably will rain today.
But whatever, again I'll be watching it in the bar. But I'd like to go into the city after the game.
What a shame that I have to get up tomorrow to learn. But I hope I will have enough time to celebrate our World Cup

I think Germany will win. I hope Argentina win, so the people saying Messi isn't the greatest of all time have to find a new reason.

Even if they lose I can console myself in saying he is the greatest of all time anyway.

I think Argentina will park the bus and will play anti-football, hope I'm wrong.

edit: Countdown for those who need it.

I know what we're all thinking. Greece should be in this final. We habe to face that sad fact though and now support Germany.

Das ist alles.
That's all.

Yeah let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Belgium - Netherlands final in 2016. Book it.

Granted I know little about the details of football, but I thought Netherlands was on the decline? Aren't most of their players getting up there in age?

Germany has such a good pipeline of young players. Plus we"ll have Reus back!

Except for Sneijder and Kuijt I'd expect everyone from this group to still be there.

Though it will be a question if Robben is still as good as he is now. I think the real transition period will be after 2016. But that mostly goes for attacking players. Our defence and goalie are all still young.
