They are teasing flying mounts?...
I really thought this trailer was going to end with flight, yeah. Was convinced that flight was a mechanic they were hiding for the next reveal.
I must be the only one who is not really hyped for flying mounts...
To me they just make the world feel small and how many games have FUN flying mechanics\combat? Almost none.
No, I'm with you, I partly want it to just shut up the complaints about there not being flying mounts in the first game. Flight in an open-world game adds a ton of complications that the game might not recover from. Often when you finally get to fly in a game, you get up there and go, "Okay, now what?", and it's only fun for a little bit before you get back to the main gameplay.
That said, I could see a Horizon game doing something interesting with a flight system. And it for sure seems like the game wants to take to the air (and that the engine could handle it, to some capacity) but every tease doesn't go there, either because it's still secret or because the designers didn't like it / it had problems in tests and it's not in the game.
Flying in Anthem was absolutely incredible. It made the game so much more fun than other looter shooters.
Sure, but that's a game made for flight, it's one of its main features. It's also a world inside canyons, so the flight is more fun because you're weaving about and doing stuff. (I actually didn't play Anthem, I only know it from video, so correct me if I'm wrong?) That's a little different from an open-world with flight, where you just take to the air and fly over empty sky and maybe fight some Razorwings or other things up there but generally don't have to deal with obstacles in your flightpath.
