One of them even using his real name as a reddit username. :lol
I don't think internet vigilantism is a very good idea.
Contacting employers goes a step beyond reasonable, and is damn close to harassment.
Two wrongs don't make a right. But hey, I don't enjoy revenge movies either.
People are just going to post them under throwaway accounts now.
It's pretty funny, though. Fighting invasion of privacy with an invasion of privacy.
Imo it really depends on the extent they'll go, after posting the information.I don't think internet vigilantism is a very good idea.

Most humans are morons (and a huge %age of Redditors are as well).
I see the subreddit is now private. Victory?
Sure, most of the men on Predditors may only be guilty of posting CreepShots like "My manager at work, such a nice ass" and "looong legs." But Samantha believes that CreepShots is a gateway drug to more dangerous hobbies. Fetishizing non-consent "indicates [that CreepShots posters] don't view women as people, and most will not be satisfied with just that level of violation," she said. "I want to make sure that the people around these men know what they're doing so they can reap social, professional, or legal consequences, and possibly save women from future sexual assault. These men are dangerous."
Stop being gorgeous and these things won't happen to you. It's your fault. Actually, in your case they may be taking pics because of that thing attached to your head.
"But these pictures can't hurt anybody because nobody can be identified from them!" thought the photo takers.
And then the photographer was identity
Lol, yep free speech backfire!
The irony of it is quite sweet.
i really wish Anon would DDoS the shit out of reddit for great justice.
creepyshots was already shut down. i really wish Anon would DDoS the shit out of reddit for great justice.
Awesome.
I don't know -- Creepshots objectifies women via turning them into sexual objects, while People of Walmart objectifies people by turning them into objects of humor/mockery. One is definitely more "creepy" than the other, but I think we're deluding ourselves if we think people go on that website and don't see those people as lesser than them, if even people at all.Yeah, I wouldn't consider either okay, both invasions of privacy. Creepshots kind of objectify women though, so I'd say they're a bit less acceptable.
Cause 4chan isn't known for having the exact same kind of photos posted often, except often underaged.
But the yoga pants are just too comfortable! :3
Cause 4chan isn't known for having the exact same kind of photos posted often, except often underaged. Of course they aren't going to DDoS reddit, they are too busy taking down Swedish library websites in their brave war for freedom of speech and pirating!
What the hell kind of word is "mansplain" (From the Jezebel post)?
Same principle as child porn: why should we only go after those who produce or post the content?Yeah, this feels like overkill in some cases.
This guy didn't even post any creepshots, he just voiced his approval and now his mug is all over the internet?
Also, it feels a bit thought crimey. Its one thing to post info and location of pedos and other criminals, but here you have someone or a group of people deciding what is or is not "creepy."
Same principle as child porn: why should we only go after those who produce or post the content?
Without the approving audience, there wouldn't be any reason for this stuff to be posted in the first place.
I am not equating creepshots and child porn
They're not being prosecuted, just publicly embarrassed for their pervy and creepy behavior. You shouldn't go after them at all, unless they are under age. Creepshots are wrong but it's not even close to child porn.

I'd say that's justice.
And you obviously didn't read the spoilered part of my previous post.
Haha this is true
You never see people in those comments/threads defending them. But as soon as they are attractive, you get every person out of the woods, "HOW DARE YOU!!! YOU SHOULD BE BEATEN!"
NBD, I just saw you edited your previous post.my bad :/
my bad :/
I still think naming names public is overdoing it.

I agree with this but only in principle. But by their approval posts and posting of the pictures + always saying it's technically 'legal' for them to do it, why shouldn't they have to own up to their behavior with their real names? As I said above, if they think it's cool to do it, then they shouldn't feel any shame if they think their behavior is fine.
They selfentitled the section as Creep, so.. also, i don't know how it works in the US, but i don't think they just list pedophiles, as much as Sex Offenders. Also, it feels a bit thought crimey. Its one thing to post info and location of pedos and other criminals, but here you have someone or a group of people deciding what is or is not "creepy."
That's fair. There's a definite difference between those who post the material and those who come across it and comment on it.Because this initiative is not as regulated as a jury case against someone with CP material.
It's basically vigilante justice, and i think it's fair as long as it remains relatively tame in its execution.
Even because (as you said) as repulsive as this may be, it's not comparable to child pornography.
Jezebel manages to do more to bring anti-feminists together than it does helping those in line with what they post. Thanks to them now "mansplain" is in my lexicon, but I won't use it. But it's now there.
wtf is "mansplain"?
wtf is "mansplain"?
Yeah I didn't know either, the internets came up with this:
Verb
mansplain
(colloquial, chiefly Internet) To explain (something) condescendingly, presuming a listeners inferior understanding or competence because she is a woman (especially something she already knows)
But by their approval posts and posting of the pictures + always saying it's technically 'legal' for them to do it, why shouldn't they have to own up to their behavior with their real names? As I said above, if they think it's cool to do it, then they shouldn't feel any shame if they think their behavior is fine.
Do I really have to mansplain that to you? I don't think you'd get it.
Look a few posts up, someone linked a definition
Which I did not know, and I have never heard, until that Jezebel article.

I'd feel harassed if anyone from NeoGAF contacted my employer. It has nothing to do with what I've posted or commented.

Haha, good way of fighting them with their own weapons
I don't understand. Did Bish have a change of heart and decide this thread was entrapment lol
