President Trump advocates for Government shutdown in September

I'm starting to believe this is Trump's way to see how the media will interpret and publish his tweets.

If you know, he was actually thinking about the importance of his words.

How do you mean? What's to interpret, what's to publish?

Trump literally publishes his own tweets in media. Twitter is a publishing platform and a medium.

I still can't believe Trump's changed quotation marks to mean "not literally." I know language is fluid and ever evolving but no. A senile 70 year old isn't changing shit because of his weak grasp of the written (and for that matter, spoken) word.

I need to pass Chemistry this semester but my grades are not there! I either need to study hard to get an A on my final exam or change the rules to mage 51% a passing grade!

I think Spicey will focus on the word 'good'. Not the quotes. You know, he wasn't calling for a bad shutdown guys, he wanted a good one. Obviously

When the Senate doesn't work for you, dissolve the Senate.

Why does that sound familiar to some fiction I may have heard of at some point?

Trump is supposed to be honoring military at the moment, but in typical Trump fashion after the budget failures by the GOP...

Trump, in Rose Garden speech to honor Air Force football team, has now turned to talking about building the wall

First the Patriots at WH. Now this. Unsure we're going to see future sporting teams at WH -- if it's going to be this political.

Trump is trying to spin new spending deal as a big victory, but he got zero funding for border wall and compromised on GOP priorities.

Trump is clearly frustrated that media aren't playing spending deal as a W-I-N -- and by continued woes in House to whip healthcare votes.

If the dems fuck this up in 2018 and 2020 I might just join Musk on Mars

Really though, Trump is going to blow the USA up

Imagine he is in charge when NK starts their war

Horrifying

All because of his pointless #FuckingWall. The ego on this asshole. He just wants to be immortalized with a structure, which if it ever did get built, would be tore down as soon as he gets impeached.

Can't wait for Spicers spin again.

You see Trump never said that, that is what the media is saying. Trump would never shut down the govenrment however there are influences that you do not know of stopping him from making america great, and if things continue to get in his way he may have to take action eventually. He isn't gonig to shut down the government like the media is saying however people are forcing his hand so he can't get things passed.

He can shut down the government and his approval rating will drop to the level of his die hard supporters only and he will still be a monster because living in a bubble with only those going to his rallies is what he does.

At this point keep calling your representatives and out play the stubbornness game with Trump. If congress is more afraid of their constituents then their president we are doing it right.

Rush Limbaugh's Q for VP Pence just now: "If this is what happens, Mr. Vice President, why vote Republican?"

Pressed by @rushlimbaugh on failure to get slew of Trump priorities in budget, Pence touts defense & border security spending increase

He can't get a gov't shutdown without the GOP senators fully behind him and they are terrified of a shutdown. Even if he vetoes the spending bill, Dems + Reps can easily get 67 votes to override the veto and that would be embarrassing for him.

I want to see this happen now.

Is it possible for the republicans to change it to a 51% vote, then right before elections change it back to 60%?

(Then, assuming they have 51% after the vote, change it again?)

I had this concern too, but it was explained to me that nuking it once basically means it is gone forever since a precedent has been set.

If they changed the vote to 51 it's because they're passing legislation that will doom moderates. Meaning the likelihood that they retain control is minimal. Even if they did retain control they won't indefinitely. The cats out of the bag when Dems take control next.
