It`s a feature which has been promised before the release of the console, a console which has been released November 2020.
Shouldn´t companies deliver on their promises even if you don´t personally care about the feature?
did i say that? i said it was justifiable .

but really, it fucking changes nothing about my gaming experience. I can still play games and id rather have more games than complain about a feature that adds minimal quality of life.

This guy gets it, finally.
Been saying since the yarn spinners said otherwise from the start. Don't know what your talking about.

I also feel uneasy with you liking my post. Let's endeavour for that not to happen again :messenger_winking_tongue:

So they sat on it for 6 months and still didn't fix it in their latest bug fixes. Where do you think that quote from DF adamsapple posted is from? They likely got a reply that it isn't broken or a bug but it still isn't benefiting from VRR because of their particular v-sync setup. If you still think it's a bug open a bug report and see if they close it.

You don't know the response, let's not pretend you do.
The Vsync also broke the resolution scaler on PC, it's a bug.

This news must have been hard to read for you. When all you have left is hopes that Elden Ring gets forgotten by the devs after VRR releases finally, it must be tough to bear. Feel better soon.
Why do you say that's all I have left? I don't get it.

But we will see how this is implemented. I think with PS4 BC Sony made similar statements about how they couldn't guarantee all titles would work perfectly, so it might be fine. But interesting they are going a different route than Microsoft. On the XSX it just works. Across all games. Except Halo Infinite.

350 replies before I even woke up. Console warriors on high alert I guess.

It's funny how someone has the exact posts I thought they would have, on the very first page, as soon as this thread was opened. Even funnier that they were spreading FUD before anything even launches. How some people get away with that endless stream of trolling I'll never understand.

If we can see VRR posted as console war bait less on threads in the future, then this is a blessing indeed.

Nope.

It's in the system settings and you can turn it on for everything, even if it breaks games.

There's even a picture of it, which I wouldve thought would be easier for some to understand than words, clearly not.

It's a system level setting, let's move on and not discuss people's inability to read or interpret images any further.
I believe Riky was saying it shouldn't require a patch full stop, so I presume Xbox as no such requirement. Now yes it is a system level setting (no-one said it wasn't) but given the fact they have written it may not work as advertised on unpatched games it's a rather flawed system level setting.

You I'm afraid are the one who is lacking in reading comprehension, or you are conveniently overlooking the wording in the press release. I have no experience with Xbox VRR myself so the question is does that work across all games as it should? And do games require a patch for VRR to work correctly?

Dat concern trolling tho.
It does raise a lot of questions! But maybe Sony is just covering their asses? They used caveats regarding PS4 BC on PS5 as well, and that mostly turned out okay. I just don't get Sony's messaging. Causing this CONCERN for people anxiously awaiting vrr. They did the same with PS4 BC. Are they concerned they will face backlash from consumers if it isn't perfect?

Nah, it works for supported and unsupported games. The troll is just trolling as usual.

So explain the DF quote from 2 weeks ago

John "I mentioned in the (first) video that VRR is not working, and that's not strictly true, it does work but it doesn't do what it's supposed to do because of the V-Sync setup."

They reported the so called "bug" since the first video 6 months ago and this is what they said 2 weeks ago. Why would he say

"I mentioned in the (first) video that VRR is not working, and that's not strictly true,"

If it was a valid bug this would still be very strictly true. Stop with the nonsense.

As I said previously, vsync, based on evidence, can stop vrr work as expected. Lots more ps5 games are vsynced compared to xbox series x|s.

Riky was inferring vrr couldn't be enabled in every game, you know it, I know it, he knows it.

It's a system level feature end of debate.

It can be turned on in every single game.

If vrr doesn't have the desired effect in vysnced games I'd expect riky to continue explaining that vrr is not broken just like he does with Halo. These games, if my assumption is correct, will need a vrr mode patching in that removes vsync.

As you can see from ghostwires many modes, this is probably the case.

How many people? The 0.0000000000000000000001%? I have a VRR display and I couldn’t care less. Y’all going to forget about VRR the moment it’s rolled out on ps5. Riky Will have to change his schtick. Enjoy while you still can.

So VRR is only going to work for "supported games"? What does that even mean? I assume games already released won't work with VRR unless the devs go back and implement it. So Elden Ring won't be fixed?...Damn, doesn't sound great. Guess we will need to wait and see. It just works on XSX so not sure what the issue could be on Sony's end.
The patches will most likely be games that had head room but got locked to 30 or 60 fps But now they will be able to run at non standard frame rates

It's been fixed for a while. I was playing Infinite yesterday at 120hz with VRR and there's no flickering. It was a vsync bug.

They’re saying that to avoid problems if it doesn’t work in the ocasional game, because they’re not going to test it on every single game already released or they will be released. It’s not that hard to understand. But go on, keep concern trolling. ☺️

What? For gamers on an enthusiastic forum, we absolutely care about vrr! You couldn't care less because your PS5 doesn't support it at the moment! Why the hell would you care about a feature in your tv when you can't even use it?!

And I don't get you. You think it's console warriors talking up vrr? Have you ever used it? I have. It can be a godsend. But you are more concerned with console warring and trying to make those that praise vrr go away...because you can't experience it.

But that's not going to happen. When vrr does hit PS5 those who have a vrr capable tv will see its utility. If you don't care, that's fine. You can disable it in the console. You do you. But vrr is not a schtick. It's a great feature!

Talking up VRR is great - I can't wait for it and love to hear good things about it.

But we all know that is not what you are doing when you ask if the news you read means Elden Ring won't support VRR on PS5. Even if you are skipping school again, you read enough threads to know Elden Ring has blown doors off in terms of sales, and it will be playable with VRR enabled. Devs don't stop supporting games of that caliber and commercial success in year 1. You know this.

What's most important to me is that Elden Ring gets great VRR support asap. Although I have to admit I am not that offended by the drops I'm finding in the PS5 version.
Gonna guess since it’s 60fps with drops it’ll be supported as it’s system level implementation. Patches will likely only be needed for games locked to 30fps/60fps with overhead or to disable vsync. Would be nice to get an always on 120hz mode as well like XSX, but one step at a time.

People need to learn Sony PR is overly safe, just like with BC, which has been a thing since the “Other OS” class action.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Nope.

Picture quality sacrifice isn't worth having it enabled.
No Local Dimming for LED's is the biggest knock.
I don't use VRR because of it(except with DL2)

That's not a universal issue, only some TVs do that.

Anyway, that's a hardware level concern, not something that effects how games perform.

Irrelevant to the topic at hand.

This is great news. I got trolled for saying a ps5 game should support VRR because it couldn't hold a stable 60. Now these same trolls are excited VRR is coming out. Ironic.

VRR is a winner for everyone. Dropping frames is a reality, and anything to negate or visually diminish those problems, are a plus. Anyone who disagrees probably "works with the polygons"

NOPE! 👎
Many gamers including myself will never risk gaming with a OLED nor do I like a few other things vs A good FALD LCD.
I risk it because I can always buy another one if I get burn in. No big deal for me! OLEDS are the best tvs out there. That video you posted, the guy says OLED is the best for gaming. Just do it!

Who cares?

Also LOL for telling people that they would have to buy ANOTHER TV(much more expensive)to get a better working VRR solution.

VRR working properly with LED's probably isn't happening for a few years.

VRR the feature works, Sony's TVs have weird issues with it is a different topic altogether.

There is no need to explain, there is a problem that breaks VRR on one mode in one game, it will probably be fixed. The fact he says that it does actually register with VRR shows it's a system wide setting, otherwise games that existed before VRR on Xbox would need patching and they didn't, it just works.

That's why he says it's not true, the game does support it but something breaks it, just like the Vsync broke the scaler on the PC version. A bug.

No one is trolling, why do games require a patch then? If its only the "occasional game"? That makes no sense does it? No games on Xbox require a patch, why is there a difference? Riky questioned the wording, one poster claimed he didn't understand the released statement (when in fact it was the otherway round).

Yes exactly correct, it's a system level setting so I expect it to work across nearly all games and older games, just like my Xbox.

So tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video.

Let me help you...

Sony,Samsung,LG and TCL are listed.

(y)

It's still not an issue against the things VRR as a feature does.

There is no need to explain, there is a problem that breaks VRR on one mode in one game, it will probably be fixed. You're spending too much time on that Riky.

They'll find another word in the quote to emphasize completely ignoring how Sony themselves are allowing VRR to be toggled on universally, just like Xbox or PC.

You're arguing against a brick wall here.

So what you're saying is, you're looking forward to it working on your PS5 as well? You have one right? I mean if you didn't I don't understand why you would be in every PS5 thread complaining about lack of VRR.

Hobbygaming

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
Why so upset? The Xbox Series versions have had the framerate improved with the latest patch , DF talks about it in their latest weekly. It stays nicely in the VRR range for the smoothest experience on console.
It's DF who suggested it was the best way to play, I'd take it up with them.
I'm gonna miss your VRR promotions when PS5 gets VRR, Riky
