only 1 way man

take a kill-a-watt (or something likewise) to see the amount of power drawn from the socket, then take into account the efficiency of the PSU, i.e. 1000W power draw from a 80% efficiency PSU = 800W used by components. Efficiency isn't linear ofcourse, but a good AX850 review will tell you how much it is at which level of load.

Also most Corsair PSUs are able to load way more then they're rated at for short amounts of time and have good protection (switch off on overload) so I wouldn't worry about damage

My Rig is more than 1.5 years old. Have not update anything. Waiting for Solid state to get cheaper. That is where i have a bottle neck.

the 980 should have a little more juice in it, and when you turn up those cards you'll totally crush everyone here I guess :D

point a table fan at the cards if they're on stock cooling though lol

New Score!

6482 - Sapphire HD 6970 - 1040/1506/1.22V - Intel i5 2500K @ 4.8Ghz - 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @ 1600Mhz - Asus P8P67 - Salacious Crumb - Air - Link

Upped my GPU from 950/1450 to 1040/1506 and squeezed 400 extra points out of my system. It could probably go higher but I don't want to frustrate myself by trying.

Edited after upping my gpu from 1016 to 1040.

I have plenty of cooling to OC my GPU. But at least right now, I dont need it and happy with the performance. :)

Yeah I ran my shit at 1.1v @ 932mhz and my shit froze, said no DVI signal, went to black screen and I restarted. Happened twice.

So yeah I think I'll stick with 903-915mhz 1.075v lol. Got me 61.5 fps on Heaven max everything and Extreme tessellation so I'm satisfied.

Well, I mean, you have a 7 year warranty on that PSU. I wouldn't be too worried about stressing it.

I'm glad this thread was made, I had never realised the voltage settings on the GTX470 were accessible. Whenever I had gone for an overclock with the eVGA tools, my graphics card would inevitably give up. Thanks to the voltage increment I was able to increase my 3DMark by 781 points (from P4789 to P5570). I have edited my original post to reflect the new benchmark.

Temps also play a factor. At 915 the top card hits 80c, bottom 70c with the fans cranked up. Still playable obviously, but dat noise :p

I'm sure I can push a good bit more score out if it if I decide to OC my 2600k but I don't really see a need to atm except for getting better benchmarking scores.

Looks like I've got a lot of updates to get through... going to do it now, please have patience, will probably take me an hour or so, the ladder's are going to be BIG after this one.

By the way guys, since this ladder has been all about gpu and graphics speed, next up we're going to run a super PI mod CPU burn speed test for the fast 32K time, but I'll put those details up later, probably let this one run for a few more days yet.

Thanks for doing this ColonialRaptor; we appreciate all the effort you put into this!

That being said, I'll probably run benchmarks on my pc right around the time BF3's beta releases. Would be cool to see how much overclocking changes things in BF3.

What temps does the 6990 get to when it's running at 100%?

What I'm interested to think and know about is what sort of results running two of them in Crossfire will get... with the noise about the 7xxx series cards being delayed until next year I'm concerned about my computers ability to run BF3 at 2560 at the highest settings and this is one game that I just can't afford to 'skimp' out on....

This is the only game that I would do this for, but I'm considering (seriously) selling my two unlocked 6950's and buying two 6990's. I have a Corsair 800D to put them in, and I think this might just be my only solution... I don't know what else to do, it seems just about the only solution I can possibly think of to run the game at the level that I want to run it at...

We'll find out just how well it runs on my setup in the Beta next week... if I can't run it maxed, then I'm going to consider this...

The other option is selling one of my unlocked 6950's and getting a single 6990 and running in Trifire which is the more cost effective solution... in-fact I am almost 90% certain that this is what I'm going to do... I'm pretty much about to drive over to the computer shop and buy the 6990 right now actually...

Here's a pic I took of my PC after doing a benchmark test with the Lightnings:

DSC_1766.jpg

Notice how the fan on the top card is white? The cards have a temp sensor on the fans. The hotter the card gets it turns white to let you know. If you look at the fan on the bottom card you'll see that it's still blue. Thought it was a cool little pic.

What temps do your 2x 6950 get in idle and load?

OP is updated - I had to split out the secondary ladders to my second post because there was too many characters... took me a damn long time to add all those extra entries, but I believe I've got them all now... could people please look over it all, I've checked it int he preview screen and made about 800 changes, but I can't see anything else wrong with it, but I'm not you individually, so if everyone checks their results individually that's the best checking method because I've been looking at this damn thing for close on 3 hours now and I can't find anything else wrong, I hope I got it right by my eyes are fried! So much damn code.

woober said:

Top card sits at 68 degrees and bottom card at 40 degrees at idle.

Load they both go up to between 80 and 90 degrees, but I have to put the fans up to 50%, if I don't I've seen them at 96 - 100 degrees.

My score in the AMD single category is still my old score :D

Otherwise that's a hell of a job you've done, and I'm impressed with how many great PC's GAF has.

Dammit. That's what you get for always updating :p :p so hard to keep track of :p

On another note GAF, I just sold one of my 6950's and I'm off to buy myself a 6990, I won't be able to ship the 6950 until Monday so when I get back I'll be able to do some QUAD action and see how much I score with that... I'll also hopefully take the crown with my TRIFIRE 6990 + 6950 setup...

We'll see... hopefully my PSU AX850 is up to the task of Quad... haha! Probably not.. but I'll give it a shot!

It's not a "true" liquid setup. I mean it does have a radiator with water etc, but it's not as in depth as a full blown water cooling unit. I just didn't want a huge CPU fan on my processor since I have a window case. My GPUs are air cooled. I'm actually at 12.5k now @ 915mhz. If I grow some I could probably get it to 932+ and what dat be like

The 5770 is a great card for it's price, gotta be happy with that score for what you paid, I mean it's only in the 2000's but look how close it is to some others with much better setups. I love the 5770, built a lot of budget gamer setups for COD with them and it runs it at high to v/high.
