Redfall is launching on Xbox consoles with Quality mode only (4K30FPS) - 60fps to be patched in at some future point

First person games is PC only and always for me, but strange that they're doing this for the console version. That being said, wasn't it some survey recently that confirmed that a huge majority of gamers turn on quality mode on their console games anyway? Probably not the enthusiasts that go to forums like this though. I would never chose 4k over high fps.

BUT....console warz/Fan Warrios are going to make this, the Biggest Problem .

Once studios starts to ship UE5 titles 30/40 fps is going to be completely cemented for most console titles for the rest of the generation. I wonder if even a mid-gen refresh will be enough to break through.

I think people would be less upset if they just set up a 1440p60 mode only and brought in the 4K30 mode later.

Its a UE4 title, so they can likely use TSR or TAAU to get up to ~FauxK60.

Well, I haven't been defending a game I thought was "clearly not good enough". Simply defending a game that I saw as having the potential to be a good game. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but I'm not going to just go along with the crowd either.

But this.....this has robbed me of what faith I had. This is simply incompetent.

LMAO This game just keeps on giving. Imagine being xbox console exclusive, being delayed many times and launching with a 30 fps mode only while looking like a mid last gen title. Im glad i can play starfield on my new PC because it will be 30 fps too on consoles with probably drops knowing how incompetent bethesda is.

Well I certainly won’t be keen on any future Xbox mid gen offering after this console . They have barely showcased the Series X. I should of got a PC instead to be honest.
 
Bad graphics for only next gen, lousy AI, 30 launch frames, permanent connection, denuvo, etc... you can't do it that badly even if you want to.

No way they are hitting 60fps with starfall. Not a fucking chance.

The reveal was dropping frames everywhere. Starfield is going to be a technical disaster.
Yeah, fortunately it was always a PC game for me right from the start. I still worry that they’ll mess up the PC version somehow, in interviews it sounds like Xbox is the lead platform.

Anyway, regarding the 30 fps thing, a user mentioned Destiny being a PS3/X360 game which needed a platform like the XSX and PS5 to be able to run at 60fps.
Here's a question though, games like The Division 2 (XONE/PS4 game) run at 60fps on the XSX/PS5, an online co-op game with no worse graphics than Redfall (I'd argue that it even looks better ffs taking also into account that it's a previous-gen title), so, what's Arkane excuse ? Honest question (i swear).

We could argue about Gotham Knights being CPU bound since it's also an online co-op game but, what's holding Arkane here since, again, there's 60fps online co-op games on the XSX/PS5 ?

Edit : also, MS's own Halo infinite and Forza Horizon feature online co-op and are both 60fps

No excuses they could've at least given us a 60fps option on Series X hell just looking at the visuals I was fully expecting a vrr option to push 90-120 frames I'll just wait until the update to play I guess smh Microsoft desperately needs the Coalition to release a showcase on Series X we're 3 years in and the Gears update is still the best looking software on the system

Arkane has always been disappointing when it comes to offering outstanding games in terms of technology and optimization, but I thought that having to focus on fewer platforms would have helped improve that background... Redfall to say that they have not improved that aspect .

😑 Let's hope the 60fps patch doesn't drag on too long.

As someone who plays on all platforms and does not see myself as being a warrior I have to say this is a pretty big fucking deal

Should have had a 60 fps mode even if it meant more delays

It comes across as cutting corners. So now it has me wondering where else corners were cut. Just really disappointing that they could not see that this is a legit reason for a delay.

This seems like an odd omission for launch. Their Lyon studio was able to get Deathloop out with 3 modes (Performance 60fps, Quality 60fps, and Ray-Tracing 30fps) and even included a 120fps mode later on when VRR was introduced on the PS5.

C'mon you know this is not a console war issue. When was the last time you saw a FPS with a 30fps mode only??? That's so ridiculous. People of all platform persuasions would call it out regardless of which platform was the perpetrator. I don't play FPS partly because I'm susceptible to severe motion sickness. RE Village made me whoozy and that was running at 45fps! I can only imagine how dreadful 30fps must be.

There is no coop here. Its not open world either. Completely different game.

Just look at what GG said about doing coop. Horizon was supposed to be a coop game but the hit to visuals was so massive that they completely cut coop from the game to achieve their vision.

Just look at what they are doing with the coop version of horizon. it looks like fortnite trash because again, there is a performance hit.

But let's be real here.....the vast majority is going to use this "thing" in a hyperbolic catastrophic way for Bethesda/Xbox.

but yeah. Technically speaking this game should have 60FPS mode. it has become kind of a standard now.

Game is in a lot of trouble imo and I had high hopes for it

Still the best next-gen only showcase I thought for sure 2 years later i'd look back at these visuals and attribute it being an early gen release for not looking as good as the current releases but nope here I am sitting here wondering why other studios haven't surpassed it.

No it's not.

It would be "good" if the game was pushing the graphic like hellbalde 2 is gonna do, not when the game looks barely better than a destiny 2.

The game should have a 120hz mode, if anything.
It’s inarguably one of the ugliest games of the generation. It looks hilariously bad.

However I’m glad they didn’t make it look even worse than it needed to by doubling the frames.

If it looks this bad in quality mode, I cannot imagine how ugly it would be in performance mode.

They are incompetent technically through and through.

But I’m Glad they prioritized quality over frames at the end of the day.

The patch will come down the road for those who care about framerate

As did I, even after the IGN boss fight. But this is a big red flag, imo, as to the state of the game along with the management's insistence that the game must be released as scheduled regardless.

oh yeah. as I said to HeisenbergFX4. this is a big issue (technically speaking) it sucks and should be criticized.

But you just see how this is going to become such a shitshow for Xbox/Bethesda's PR.

What have Arkane actually been doing?

Boggles the mind they're part of MS who own the Coalition who apparently specialise in the unreal engine and Arkane still can't sort their shit out to get a lackluster looking game out day 1 at 60fps.

I really hope iD have been dragged in to help with the shooting mechanics as Arkane can't do that either, but looking at the gameplay it doesn't seem to be the case.

But you could say every game has potential. There are very few games that release without any redeeming features that if developed properly could have turned an average/bad game into a good one.

I tend to try and only judge games once they are finished because games development is dynamic, but sometimes something is so obvious that the rot needs to be stopped and feedback needs to be given.

In this case hopefully there is an avenue for then to delay the game and improve things where necessary (which is a lot of places).
