Trump: "Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda" "Must fight them"

I mean he's right, the Freedom Caucus is terrible for the party, and for the country. They will stonewall anything that has any positive impact at all.

I believe it fell under reconciliation for permanent ones, and he would need less votes under that timeline tying it to the AHCA (which is now dead in the water), but I might be mistaken on that one?

Hmm, perhaps, but I'm fairly certain both Trump and Ryan have said August at the earliest.

Tax Reforms, debt ceiling are literally going to be equal parts incredible and horrifying to watch. The main concern with healthcare reform was that as far right as Trump/Ryan attempted to go, it wasn't far enough for the HFC.

Now watch as they try to reform tax from scratch and try not to get held hostage over another government shutdown over whatever demands the HFC wants.

He's openly attacking a group he HAS to win over for tax reform. Amazing.

They'l come around. Reducing taxes is something that the Freedom Caucus would vote for anyhow. Easy D might be looking for an easy win here.

Hell, they might even get a fair amount of Dems on their side if they play it straight. I know I want to see tax reform.

But they're also stonewalling Trump's half-assed policy proposals. They might be doing it for the wrong reasons, but they're actually a benefit right now, at least on some issues like health care.

I wouldn't laugh it off. A lot of people put more faith into Trump than their reps, especially since Trump is the figurehead and controls PR. The caucus has much more to lose and so he probably can get them to fall inline just like he's been doing since he started his campaign.

To be fair, he's not wrong. It's actually kind of funny that the worst of the horrible Republicans actually stand in the way of awful Conservative legislation. Of course it's because the legislation isn't awful enough for them, but hey, you take what you can get when progressives control nothing in the government.

a half right broken clock......a rare species indeed.
Seriously.

Although it's not for altruistic ends

Trump understands the effectiveness of illusions, false promises and lies, an understanding that eludes those in the Freedom Caucus, many of whom want to do away with health care systems that involve government. If the ruling kleptocrats strip everything away at once, it could provoke an angry backlash among the population. Better to use the more subtle mechanisms of theft that worked in Trump’s casinos and his fake university. Better to steal with finesse. Better to strip the government on behalf of corporations while promising to make America great again.

And while I'm sure many will laugh at the mention Trump and subtleness, all of what he does is double speak.

Of course he's not wrong, it's very clear that the Republicans are not used to passing anything and it politically is very easy to always be the obstructionist

So he's gonna fight his base (the angry white mob who blamed all their problems on Obama)? Surely he has to realise that's it's not the edgy teenagers from reddit who got him elected...

And the tea party is now protecting the rest of the country/world from Trump?

Nothing makes sense anymore.

This motherfucker says he's the greatest uniter of people the world has ever seen. And he can't even get his own fucking party to back him so now he's going to attack them too.

LOL fuck off you piece of shit.

Like, the bill was really bad. Why is he blaming the FC? Tweeting this shit will just hurt him later on when he needs them for other things.

Freedom Caucus is going to get nothing in the next two years at this rate. If the Dems take back the house in 2018, they'll have been instrumental in obstructing huge chunks of conservative legislation and will have been made irrelevant as they'll be in the minority party.

Thanks guys! No sarcasm haha

I don't think this is particularly true, at least with respect to the constituents of the Freedom Caucus members. I would be surprised if most of these reps aren't more popular than Trump in their districts.

I think its fringe variant where you play Parcheesi to determine which piece you move and roll a dice to determine how that piece moves.

Trump isn't playing chess. He has the monopoly board out, but instead of actually following the rules, he's holding the cannon piece and saying "pew pew" as he knocks houses and hotels down.

Lmao the irony is that the freedom caucus members' districts tend to be the ones where
Trump won overwhelmingly. Interested to see whose side they fall on
