So if the PC is untouched (thank smeg i bought it on PC) does that mean this day 1 update may actually add these censored parts? cause the game went gold a couple of weeks back

abortion is more of a red button topic in america, judging from how obsessed the media gets over it.

it got brought up maybe... once in four years here in the uk

I'm sure it'll blow up, the media just doesn't notice these things until its out in the wild.

Considering how many people were "shocked" and disgusted by GTA 5's torture mission, its almost impossible there won't be outrage over an abortion mini game and "anal penetration of a minor" -- well prob see some from GAF members.

Heh. I was going to cancel my Amazon US pre-order and just pre-order from Australian store since I didn't want to wait for 2 weeks before the game can reach me.

Now though, I'll rather keep my pre-order and wait for 2 weeks delivery instead.

This censorship thing is bullshit.
If I can easily download a US version for my xbox 360 then I will, if not then Ubisoft have lost my sale.

Stupid decision...

Ok I've seen that. That guy was acting like it's a fact. There's also been people that "heard" it was 50 hours.

Considering one previewer said he spent 2h 30m just walking around town exploring before even completing the first quest and he wasn't even close to done, I'm guessing that it will be easy to get over 12 hours out of this game even if in worst case the main storyline takes about 12 hours to complete.

All of this shit is why games are still associated with "kids stuff". If games truly were recognized as being for everybody, including adults, we wouldn't have such patronizing bullshit.

I think I just 'forced' an answer from Ubisoft:

Fuck yea.

But yea, genuinely sucks for console players.

I wonder if the PAL console version will sell like shit just because of this.

Everyone that knows will want to import.

Anal probing and having an abortion...
I'm not sure I want to be rewarded for being a member of the master race in this fashion :(

Still buying it!

I planned on picking this up on the PS3, now considering PC instead.

Any suggestions on US websites that sell to Sweden?

Why the fuck is the UK version of all places censored? Abortion and anal probing scenes have been shown on the TV show over here without any problems, so why are they being censored in the game?

This mght not be a bad ting, especially since Matt and Trey are in charge of the image put over the scene....they have a habit of putting something far more offensive in place of whatever they had to censor

I just created a US psn account yesterday for the WWE network, can any of you kind American folk confirm that games are available digitally day 1 over there? If so I think I'll get some US psn credit from Amazon and buy it there, 3 days early and censor free!

Don't really understand why it would censored on consoles but not on PC. Makes no fucking sense. In fact it being uncensored on PC proves that it passes the PEGI/BBFC/whatever review boards so why fucking censor the console version? I don't get pissed off about much. I dont even care too much that they've chosen to remove some content. But illogical reasoning really fucks me off big time.

Told you my theory that the console manufacturers had objections. That's really the only other thing I can think about.

You can grab a copy from Nuuvem for approximately 25.60 Britishbucks. Most of us who opted for the PC version bought it for ~$20 through traders on Steam but Ubi closed that loophole about a week ago.

Oh hey, it's my native tongue. Might buy from them just on patriotic principal.

Not actually that important
This is why I'm getting a retail physical copy of the game for the PC and not letting it update.

Figured the butthurt police would be out in force for this one.

Game is full of game-breaking bugs that are going to be patched with a day1 update (and possibly other problems on a later patch). Also, they aren't going to update it censoring stuff if the retail copy is unaffected.
If the PC copy is uncensored, same will be for the digital release, otherwise the retail sku will be affected all the same.

Why wouldn't the same manufacturers have any objections with the American console versions then? Especially since the abortion issue is a big thing in the US whereas in Europe hardly anyone cares.

This probably means the NZ version will be too (Either way I get my games from the UK) so I'm now a little hesitant to get this. Which is a bummer because I was looking forward to it.

Probably has to do with retail versus digital sales. If games are unrated or put on the index in Germany, then no copies may be put in shops for children, no advertisements made etc. Effectively that means no sales. If it's censored in Germany but uncensored everywhere else that also means no sales in Germany. It's quite possible the German brick and mortar shops have banded together to put in demands at Ubisoft. Either the adjacent countries also get a censored version or we boycott your other releases like Watch dogs.

PC at retail conversely is pretty insignificant. Maybe South Park will be solely digital in the first place.

(Presuming it's Germany that's the culprit, could also be UK or whatever)

Different branch might have reacted differently. Also who knows who is in charge of such a decision. Like I said it's the only reason I can think about, because it clearly isn't a ratings issue.

That's crazy talk. You know that the PC release will also be on German store shelves right? Stores also don't band together for shit here. Man this doesn't make any sense top to bottom.

So just asked Ubisoft about the german PC version and they were quick with the answer. Germany PC version also uncensored except for the swastikas. So you can drop that line of thinking that somehow Germany is responsible for these alterations.

Ubi mentioned "marketing decisions" so that would not have fit anyway.

- PC retail is not insignificant in Central and eastern europe, specifically germany is the biggest market for PC retail.

-Germany gets its own censored version anyway because the game features swastikas - other european version will have them.

- German retail shops have nothing to gain from blocking titles like watchdogs, they already feel a lot of pressure from people importing their games from the UK and online retailers like amazon.

Decided to cancel my preorder in the end, never done that for a game before that I can recall, *banned site* lets you leave a comment as to why which is nice. Hopefully a few others do the same as me and ask *banned site* to pass on the message that Ubisoft are being idiots.

Damn, was really excited about this game and I won't buy a full game digitally so no chance of using another region. I was also planning on getting Infamous when it went down in price and was hoping this would hold me over until then. March is going to suck. :(

Maybe pick this up second hand down the line unless Ubisoft come to their senses.

Its always been ironic to me German law censors things like the Nazi's, which is exactly the kind of thing the Nazi's did. Do they ban the buddhists using the swastika as well?

I really can't understand how the PC version is going to stay uncensored, but the consoles version aren't?

Is there some sort of bypass law I am unaware of ?
