So, all Bloodborne players who haven't played Souls before, how's it going?

Just got to

, place is creepy. Also where's
crow lady
? Not seen her since the start of the game

I've fought the first player hunter in the game:
In Nightmare Place there's a fucking maiden that rings a sinister bell and another player appeared, thank god he was pretty bad because I had 50k echoes and didn't want to lose them, He had almost nothing -_-
By the way, the area is insane, I gave up when two other AI hunters appeared".

one more question that i forgot to ask earlier... regarding insight. so, i'm up to 20 and
started seeing shit, like the spot near the cathedral where a portal appears to body slam you into the ground... i now see the outline of a beast. Also, enemy's now appears to have additional attacks/abilities.
If I use my insight and lower down to say 15, will these things quit happening, or once you "unlock" them, are they here to stay?

lowering insight makes it disappear

Raise it even higher if you wanna see its true form :D

Currently I am playing through Lords of the Fallen and loving it. Having never played the Souls series, Lords is my first introduction to what these games offer. Im progressing well in Lords of the Fallen, and I understand that this game it easier and more accessible that the Souls series (from what Im told ) With that said, how big a leap is Bloodborne?

Man i dont know what half the items are because they're translated in my native language. Is there a way to change it to english? Just beat the first boss and getting the hang of it!

I gotta admit, Nightmare is pretty intimidating. I managed to kill 4 hunters, only to have some random show up and case me around with his threaded cane.

On the topic of how it feels, I'm pretty surprised how much I've enjoyed grinding. Mostly because the enemies post the 4th/5th boss become a thrill to fight. I try to brute force my way through many games and this is probably the first time I've played a game with some calculation. It's pretty rewarding playing the AI against itself (
especially that lightning beast creature in the Forbidden Woods)

The
Forbidden Woods
though, especially with all those
snakes
....bleh!

I'm always down to buddy up with someone though. PSN is sQuiiDx.

Im in impression that after you beat a boss the normal enemies get stronger, can anyone confirm that?
My impression is that the village mob-type enemies have more HP in areas that are further along in the game.

If you go back to Central Yarnham and fight the guys around there they're much easier after you've progressed a bit.

I think the people who have said that were reacting to the opening sections of the game. Once you get passed that, it gets harder.

How much Vitality do you have? My guess is "not enough", i.e. less than your other stats.

Also, the game is non-linear, so people may be higher level than you when they say something is easy.

It's funny because I thought the first two were easy and everyone had a problem with BSB. VA is giving me the hardest time, I think she's shielded from attacks in places though, sometimes I hit ankles and no dmg is reduced.

I'm really liking this game so far, but i have really hit a wall against V
icar Amelia. I can get her down to 1/4th health but can't seem to get close to killing her. I'm currently a level 28 rocking Ludwig's Holy Blade +4. Any tips?

Ask the same thing earlier this morning, tip list above.
Basically,
stay close, charge towards her, which will position you behind her, fire paper will increase blade damage, and the mist potion will prevent her from healing
.

As I mentioned on the last page use
Fire Paper. At half health I remembered I had some Fire Paper and so I used it for the extra damage. Her health melted as it staggered her a few times. Found her to be super easy consequently.

Question: Do you need to hit her with the
mist potion
or just close to her?

Edit: Well, I managed to beat BSB. I had to ask Alfred for help though. He tanked it pretty much the whole battle until he died when BSB had 1/5 of its HP remaining. At that point I just rushed and killed it.

Okay, I killed
Vicar Amelia
. It was a pretty easy fight: just apply that fire thing to your weapon, stay behind her and spam attack. It was probably a 2 minute fight, would have been shorter had I leveled up more endurance lol.

And now the question: I killed
CB, FG, BSB and VA
so far, and discovered that
electric beast boss in the Unseen Village
. Is there any more bosses left to kill or some important thing to discover before I proceed into the woods?

I'm dying a lot.

My dreams last night were weird..... is that normal for a Souls game?

I'm slightly scared, but more so excited to play again today.

Hope my dreams go back to normal tonight... haha :p

I'm having weird dreams since I started playing Bloodborne lol, time to take a break and play something nice and Nintendo.

Made some progress today.

Defeated my fourth boss Vi
car Amelia
. After defeating her I approached her altar and a cutscene played. Not sure who the two guys speaking in it were.

Does a certain event trigger nighttime? I'm not sure if it's fully night yet as I heard things change at night but haven't noticed anything different.

I decided to revisit the area you get taken to when the sack-carrying enemies first kill you. I managed to find the electrified club weapon. I also came across another boss Da
rk Paarl Beast
who wrecked me.

There is an NPC in this area too. She is cowering and praying to herself and just asks to be left alone. Can you help her at all?

Another odd thing happened though. I left the Grand Cathedral and went west from exiting. In this area were 2 hunters which I defeated. Further on down were 2 gun toting henchmen on rocks and 2 of those giant hooded n caped dudes you meet at the start of the game.

Instead of fighting the big guys I ran past them to the building they were patrolling in front of. Inside was a huge room with a hearth or sumit in the centre. The door at the back of the room was closed but when leaving a
wormhole appeared and some spectral giant grabbed me and threw me to the ground killing me
. Wut.

I am actually not sure where to go now. I found a forest but haven't progressed into it.

Should I buy the grand cathedral(I think) plaza key for 10000 souls?

I also bought Ludwigs Holy Sword but think I still prefer the Axe.

So the advice I got saying that I was probably not ready to face
Father G
as my first boss was good. I finally found the Cleric Beast and beat him like he stole something on my 2nd try. Just got past the aqueduct with over 10,000 echoes and leveled up my strength enough to use Kirkhammer. Now I'm coming for
Father G.

This game is like crack to me now. I need my fix every few hours.

Its a frenzy curse and they're nasty, stay away from it. Go in the forest instead to proceed further.

I forgot to mention that weapon wise I'm starting to dig Ludwig's Holy sword and using it more than the Saw Cleaver finally. There's still certain situations (swarmed by a few enemies) where I prefer the cleaver as it does more R1 damage and is faster than the one hand form of the sword. But the two hand form of the sword wrecks anything you can take time with, and is great for giant enemies. The one hand form is fine for single villagers, crows etc. that go down easy.

Hoping to find some new armour/attire soon. Currently with Hunter hat/garb and the unseen village set's gloves/boots.

None of the insight attire in Hunters Dream seems much better. Wish you could easily compare what you are wearing vs shop attire.

Yeah I have found both the Vicar and BSB and am stuck on both. Just want to kill this SOB

Just am fyi to people stuck on bsb, he does an attack that is very easy to counter with a gun attack, leaving him vulnerable for an execute attack or whatever the game calls it. And he does this attack the whole fight. The other advice on here is fine, but I found countering with the gun made it a stupid easy encounter.

So the chalice dungeons can drop rare weapons that nobody else would have (unless they have run the same dungeon)???

No, but rare versions of weapons found in the main game... only a couple versions though. This isn't diablo, there's only a set number of weapons.

Your friend is wrong. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Changing 1 piece of gear amounts to like, a dozen levels worth of poison resistance.

Horrifically bad advice from your friend. More Vitality boosts your vials as well, so you can out-heal the poison more easily.

16 Vit is barely above starting levels. Get more. Seriously.
Yes and no. Levelling up endurance is a good idea too, but because it gives more stamina, not for the poison resist.

But yes, I agree with you that raising vitality is important. Makes a huge difference. I can't recall the number of times I've seen people saying the
frenzy traps from the invisible monsters
OHKO'd them, but I've always survived them at full health.

My only experience with these kinds of games was with Demons back when it came out. I beat world 2-3 and then stopped playing back then. I think BB is a little easier so far, the only thing that's kicked my ass is the cathedral hunter. I beat Father G in two tries and the CB in two tries as well. About to fight BSB with my +3 Kirkhammer and hopefully not die a ton. Loving the game so far.

So my souls friend who is a veteran of these games offered to help me out after endless dying on CB.

We share played and he made a new character using the Axe. (I was using the same thing) and I watched him play from the beginning, kill CB and father.

He wasn't doing anything too different than what I was with CB, except it looked like he was staying much closer than I was. He also was getting the gun counter timing down much more often than I was.

I've kept my original save and will go back to it but for now I've been using this other save and have gotten up to BSB now....

This game is very manageable.

I've beaten 7 bosses so far. Sure, I die. And I usually feel that it's my entirely my fault when I do.

This is my first "Souls" game and it's spectacular. My favorite game I've played in a long while.

Question: A buddy and I started doing the chalice dungeons. We started the first one. We were barely getting any souls from this and the loot was weak. I assume the loot picks up and it becomes well worth it to do these dungeons, right?

So I keep reading online how easy Vicar Amelia is... what gives? I've yet to get her down below 1/2 health. Currently lvl 32, wearing hunters garb, w/ Ludwigs great sword, strength build.

I finally beat her with just regular attacks. The best advice I can give is use something long (I used the whip form of the threaded cane) and don't be greedy trying to get in 2 or 3 hits when you can't. Level 22.

Really need to stop reading the wiki - the fextralife one. Too many unmarked spoilers.

Just bought PS+ there. Love the online element in the game. Haven't done any dungeons but even leaving messages, seeing spectres is cool.

I wonder are they real though or does the game just generate them to give that illusion of someone else playing in the exact same spot you are.

You should be raising insight, not lowering.

Talk to me when you're at 80 insight :p

Compared to other NPCs, including warewolves, rats, walkers, the other fatty's (rocks on hand) and the Cane/Spear NPC's he's OP and you are throwing newcomers at him. Perhaps we should focus test and see what casuals would think of such a challenge. Sadly we can't. I know for one I got frustrated, and I am not alone...that coupled with some other frustrating moments can make people say - forget this game. Just that simple. It's a problem in Souls game and we would be naive to behave like it doesn't exist.

No, your argument = skill and level up will eventually lead to better results. You can apply that to almost anything to disqualify it from being "cheap". Cheap = unreasonably difficult. That fatty is.

Nobody is "throwing newcomers at him" except for the newcomers themselves. The dude is in a dead end alley and about ten seconds away from a lantern. The fact that he's located in a dead end is made obvious the first time you run down there. You have a choice. If you want to take the guy on and learn his moveset, the ten second cost of admission is the only thing cheap about the fight and he's easily beatable with a little practice.

The fact that several people have attempted to point these things out to you while you continue to throw the word "cheap" back at them over and over again would indicate that you are too stubborn to admit that maybe the issue here is that you had a more difficult time with this particular enemy than most.
