Goddangit I clicked on this thread literally because of my cross platform play hype only to see it crushed right off the bat. Still getting it, but sad I wont be able to team up with PS4 GAF... Yet at least.

I can definitely understand the problems since they have to use PSN for the PS4 version, and I assume they're using Steamworks for PC

Though it makes me wonder how Street Fighter V is going to handle this. I can't imagine the backlash if that launches with the cross-platform play being only random matches, not lobbies and private matches

You can't party with a friend on a different platform, because you aren't actually friends on the platform you are on. We use the party system for each platform, so these aren't compatible ideas. That said, we will support crossplay in private matches.

Unfortunately you can't. Parties use platform systems to work so there's no for them to function across PS4/PC. We're looking into a quick patch to make private lobbies possible without partying which would enable cross play in private games, but full cross platform parties are a much bigger system that we'll have to consider after launch.

Well what I'm really hoping is that the patch for crossplay private matches comes (very) soon after launch. I'd love to be able to do a GAF tournament with both platforms from the start. I was already thinking when should I start it, and this way I'll just wait a while to see.

Hey everybody, we’re very excited to announce our new project here at rocket-league.com. We all have been working on our own branches of the site for a few weeks and are finally ready to unveil the project! Any internet wizards wanna tell me why my ping was so shit yesterday/has been before? A few times I've had to come off the preview build because my ping is like 650. This is after I've closed the Twtich stream/everything else.

I have a wired connection and Speedtest.net said my ping was only 14 straight after I signed out of Rocket League.

I live in a flatshare with 5 others, but even if they were all streaming 4k porn shouldn't my ping be a lot lower than six hundred and bloody fifty?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I refuse to let my shitty internet ruin RL for me. It just can't happen.

Ping is the time it takes to respond to the server, so it doesn't matter what the ping is between you and speedtest, it matters where the game server is to get the ping between that and you, which in this case is 650. In other words, the speedtest ping is always irrelevant to actual game pings as it will try the closest server resulting in the lowest ping.

With only 1mbit upload, you'll probably not have a good experience playing outside the UK so at the very least, stick the filters in Europe. I've got Virgins top tier service and sometimes got horrible ping on the beta when playing in the US.
