The problem for me is that it just looked like 8 mins of basic Halo.
There wasn't anything really 'wow that looks amazing' about it. It just looked like good old classic Halo.

I like Halo but that's not gonna wow anyone.
When you consider that the rest of their conference was pretty much garbage, they should have given us way more than just 8 mins - at last half for that time was boring cutscenes as well.

In reality we got about 4 or 5 mins of gameplay that looked about as good as any other Bungie Halo game. Maybe that's an achievement for 343? For the majority it's not exciting though. It's kinda underwhelming when you've been waiting nearly 5 years to see the next Halo :messenger_tears_of_joy:

They should have shown more and they should have told us more. I had to read on ign that the game was definitely open world. Why didn't they tell us about the other activities that we are gonna be doing in this new open world Halo? Tell us about the stuff that's unique to this Halo game in particular.

It's like 343i just finally reached the standard that Bungie set, but we're already used to that standard we played it years ago. That's what bugged me quite a bit about this, it felt safe, it didn't blow me away. I think it will be a ton of fun, cause you can never go wrong with Halos gameplay, this give me a halo3/5 vibe but i still would've like to see something even more awesome, and unique.

If we ever get off graphics we should talk more about how lame the weapons sound and how the enemies all died too easily to see if their AI was anything special. Halo games were best to me on Legendary. Also, they should go back to how the assault rifle used to look and sound, why is it so skinny and alien-like looking and sound so weak?

Yeah the AI is another monster all in itself, probably the worse I've seen it. Halo CE was superior from what I saw.

So gameplay is all that matter again? As someone that lurks and infrequently post I've come to the conclusion that this is all one of Dante's journeys through one of the levels. This one being the level of backtracking and goalpost moving.

Then why show that part of the game? People say they had 5 years, but fact of the matter is most of those years were spent building the actual engine.

343 are really trying ill give em that, but they just dont have Bungies talent. That much is clear.
I get the feeling they are running behind on where they should be so close to release. They had to show something and so this was the result.
Hope the can improve on this in time.

I’m just now getting to catch up with the XBOX presentation and started with Halo Infinite.

I have to say that the video was pretty bad, was this done on XBOX One as opposed to Series X?

The models, textures and sound were worse than what you’d see in Doom Eternal and if you watch near the 6:30 mark you can visibly see the terrible transition between gameplay and cinematic when MC presses the button.

I’ve been playing through the MC collection on PC in preparation for Infinite and this honestly doesn’t look next-gen at all.

The tech demo does look very different to the gameplay.

I'm interested in playing the campaign but I thought it would look better graphically.

Noticed a few frame drops and pop in.

The game should be good though.

The game looks like it will be...okay. Sort of a mix between classic Halo and Halo 4/5. Didn't care for the cheesy, drawn out antagonist speech at the end. Some mechanics, like sprinting, don't really fit into Halo for me personally. I'll likely pass on this, but it doesn't look as bad as everyone here seems to be saying.

Gameplay looks super good.
Grafik is between super bad in some cases and good in other cases.

Gameplay is more important of course. But this game will not come out in September. That's for certain.

Wow. Just, wow. What happened here? What did the do during all these years? What about the money? How did they burn it?

343’s industry leadership should answer.

I said in the other thread; I think something might have gone very wrong in the development of this game. It looks so bad in parts it's meme worthy.

I don't expect Series X visuals in the long run to look this bad, but MS or the dev shitting the bed with their main i.p could be pretty disastrous for the image of Series X as some kind of 'cross gen machine'.

In the beginning it said start demo. Do we think we will also be able to play the demo?

so in the Light of this Demo - is it now ok to ask the Question if People still like Xbox One support? Or will this Comments also be removed now?

meanwhile Sony just released THIS

and yes i choose this Vid because it is also suffers from Youtube compression. Still , even with youtube kompression mode on - this looks way better than most things on their recent live stream..

Let me give a silver lining if the Halo fans didn't like what they saw so far, like Sea of Thieves it might get better with time since 343i also said that infinite is going to be a "platform"

I think the rumors of the dev hell must've had some truth to it. It seems like the team has recently hit their stride but it still needs more time to cook. It probably won't be "great" until a year after launch. Like I imagine most new games coming out this gen.

I am still not convinced this is XSX that was shown. Even the gif that 343 tweeted yesterday looked way better. Also anyone interested in the way the ring looks to be segmented into (sometimes) physically separated areas like floating islands? Been far too many years to remember, but wasn't there something about the ring being broken at some part(s)? If so maybe only parts are segmented like that?

Damn, I wanted the official Halo reveal to blow me away and get me excited again. It in no way looks terrible and honestly i'm sure it's going to be a fun game once people get their hands on it.

BUT, for as long as the hardcore fans have waited, and for it to be a launch title on what Microsoft keeps touting is the most powerful next gen console, this gameplay demo did nothing to strengthen those statements or make me run to hit the pre-order button. Luckily it's on game pass so if the gameplay ends up not keeping my interest I didn't lose anything but a little bit of time.

Not impressed, that intro was boring and that gameplay, it's like they didn't change anything. It's getting stale. Am I the only one thinking this?

not pushing out the game right now seems like a mistake, but i've been saying this for a few years

they should learn to embrace live flight testing and heavy iteration with full transparency

I agree.
But there's one additional glaring problem.

Who other than Phil decided to, not just feature the game in today's showcase, but have it open and set the tone for the entire event?

It's one thing for the game to be in developmental mayhem. It's quite another for Xbox execs to have reviewed the footage in advance and gone "Yup. This is exactly the kind of visuals we had in mind to open the conference and sell our next-gen system".

What were the PR guys thinking?

I don't expect Series X visuals in the long run to look this bad, but MS or the dev shitting the bed with their main i.p could be pretty disastrous for the image of Series X as some kind of 'cross gen machine'.

It remains to be seen whether Xbox's cross-gen strategy will pan out or not.
This blooper has me scratching my head.
Practically any other game, including indie titles, would have made for a better opener.

This is just bonkers.

This video shows what was missing in the Halo showcase. While the dradistance and skyboy is really nice, it lacks any kind of atmosphere. There was hardly any ambient music or sound (especially before he went into the elevator). Also the animations were complete lackluster. There was no oopmh to it. Compare that to Doom (even 2016!). The shotgun and melee in this game was so much more satisfying than this. And that I think is almost the worst part. Not the graphics but the lack of impact animation and gun feedback. Everything felt kinda meh.

So I just got a chance to watch this, I was in work meetings during the presentation. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Halo and even I'm disappointed. For this to be the big opener and the big "wow" game on the list...just....awful. Everything looks like it's made of dough, the character/gun models are bad. The texture pop-in is bad, the frame drops were frequent, even the gunplay looks somehow sloppy. If I were Phil and had to make a decision to show this gameplay demo or just a WELL CUT and EDITED trailer, I would have chose the following. How can you claim to have the most powerful next gen console and deliver this as your flagship? Shameful.

As generic as it looked, that game looked fire. Remedy's bullet time in a fps view, so in.
Remedy is doing the writing so it should at least be better than your standard COD campaign when it comes to narrative.

Guerilla Games had this games visuals beat with a launch title on PS4. Fuck me 343 need to be replaced.

Yeah, i'm really confused at this point.

Is 343i just incompetent, or was this just what was asked for them by MS for Gamepass?

Either way, this - if reviewed averagely - would be three strikes on 343i.

Could someone make a comparison between HALO 1 Anniversary and Halo 5?

I swear that Halo 1 Anniversary looked slightly better.
