Very interesting that they gave an exact date even though it's still so far from now. Usually for announcements that are 12+ months studios would only say "2022" or "late 2022".

The cynical part of me thinks it's because today Microsoft won't have all that much other stuff to announce with an exact date, but it might also be just an unrelated choice of communication strategy.

AAA game development takes time plus covid affected dev cycle. People working are humans and they also care about their lives as well

COVID is always the excuse for these egregious release windows. Funny how it isn't an issue for the competition that's poised to release a total of 4 next-gen exclusive titles throughout all of 2021. Phil has been at the helm for 7 years and still hasn't put out a quality title. What's the next excuse going to be? A stubbed toe?

You have to understand that denial is the key to coping. Let them believe whatever they want, logic won't help.

It's probably not going to happen since this game was in development from before the acquisition, but I hope this game uses the full suite of Velocity Architecture features. The Series X really needs a technical showcase.
