It all depends. The key is living below your means. If you make enough to afford the phone & plan and can save money on the side (retirement accounts, savings, etc. ) then you’re fine. If you’re living paycheck to paycheck then it’s definitely time to re-evaluate where your moneys goes versus what actually brings value to your life.
Easier said than done of course. It takes discipline to make long term financial changes.
Before i gained full time employment in my chosen industry i generally lived check to check, but the added sense of relevance and responsibility that comes with my work - not to mention the relative lack of mental downtime to fill with hobby chasing - instantly converted my spending habits.

It was like I'd been waiting for a chance to be adult lol

(The day after i got that job i suddenly thought it was the most regular thing in the world to sell 80% of my slowly collected, second hand gaming platforms)

Work is getting exciting. A large, 8-figure project is coming down the pipeline next year. I’ve asked to be assigned but this type typically goes to global HQ. I’ve got some high level people going to bat for me to get it.

Fingers crossed because this would be a direct shot at getting a fat promotion if the project goes well. I know well the people that would be involved and I have no doubt that the project would be successful.

That’s awesome news, pal, and further proof that hard work gets you places. The benefits of working hard greatly outweigh the cons. All those YouTubers and Twitch streamers don’t know how easy they have it. Again, best of luck to you, pal, you deserve this.

Here's some ideas:

1: What spec you building?
2: Will you go Win10 or 11?
3: A/S/L?
See, I’m showing my age. I didn’t even realise that was a computer tower. When I was younger, computers looked like this:

That’s an old photo of me at work.

Pre ordered GT7 for my ps4 pro .

Pretty happy about it.

122 days.

No idea how you feel about that.

Meanwhile i paid for Kena like 6 months ago.

Happy about it.

Pfff gt7... If anything it's now a reason for me not to sell my console for at least 122 more days

We already lost four employees to other work from home jobs so that they could move away. One even took less pay. Anyone here change employers or just fucking quit knowing that they could easily find a tech job now, almost anywhere, because we're almost all working from home now?

EDIT: sorry, forgot it was for subscribers. Here's their twitter thread at least

We've had a ton of departures. The first announcement was a full return to office with 1-2 WFH days per week. People were still leaving, saying other employers were offering more flexibility. So now it's up to each department to decide how much they can WFH. People are still leaving. My dept is one of the few that hasn't lost anyone during COVID. I am fairly certain there's only 1 or 2 other depts that can say the same.

The hilarious thing to me is that our CEO was all about returning to the office. MF'er put in his notice because of work-life-balance. This dude got to decide everyone's work-life-balance flexibility and he still wants to leave.
