Why would a PS5 PRO stop that from happening? The stance of people here is really strange, you people buy phones that are usually more expensive than a PS5 every two or three years, and yet a HW refresh for hardcore consumers every 4 years is somehow an insult?

I got PS5 in November 2020. I've owned every PS, and both handhelds. I'm allowed to say that I don't think this is worth it. Not sure why that's surprising to you. Literally the only two positions one can even take on this rumor is that you either think it's worth it or you don't. I'm not sure what you expected to read when clicking the thread.

PS5 soc is around 2070s actuallym you can just compare with PC port mid requirements and you can guess the equivalent hardware.

I never said I'm offended. I said I don't think it's worth buying.

Apparently the console is ONLY for true PS hardcore gamers so by definition the majority of console owners would probably not think it's worth buying. Why are you so offended by people not wanting to buy it?

U are so wrong there, man, just look at xbox series x vs s sales, S is everywhere with no1 wanting it despite being so much cheaper, pr0 gonna sell lake hotcakes even at 800, but i bet they gonna sell slim at 400 and pr0 at 600, ofc all guestimates ;D
Already tons of ps5 only games cant run proper 4k60fps, so if pr0 is at least 2x stronger we would get games looking like in fidelity mode but actually running like in performance mode, so 60fps, and i guarantee u tons of customers would pay decent cash for such an option ;D

Literally would have no effect on you if someone plays with a PS5 with better ray tracing.

Which is all this would be, PS5 R. A model that would represent 20% of the sales, but handy for advertising and keep people from turning over into PC gaming seeking prettier graphics.

If it can provide higher frame rates, or at least better fidelity at 60fps, then I'm on board. I agree with others, though, it's not entirely necessary.

Late 24 seems fine. It doesn't really feel like we need one yet since the start of the gen was so weird with the rona and availability and nothing seems to be really stressing the systems, more so optimization things. That would be a bit past mid gen for a 2027 next gen.

I don't know if I'll upgrade, but the existence of a Pro will make the base PS5 cheaper. So that's good for those waiting for the PS5's price to drop.

PC will be quite a bit ahead of console hardware by then. Makes sense to keep some people from jumping to PC.

Edit: Even though I have a 7900xt PC, day 1. Still love my PS5.

You are ruining the market and whole console gaming with this. This is why 2000$ smartphones come out every year. Because fools would buy them.

Console gaming is about flat even floor for 7 years or so. Not pro models, crossgen and any of that. Because of requests and line of thinking like yours, console gaming is taking in cancer from pc gaming.
More models, versions, upgeades every year if we keep on this track. It’s just a bad pc at this point.
This is everything that console gaming is NOT.

Just get a pc and don’t poison our pool

I've said this in other threads, but a PS5 Pro whose primary selling point is better raytracing would be a horrible sales pitch. For one thing, most people don't even know what ray tracing is. For another thing, ray tracing still sucks, even on a 4090 it is extremely limited and needs to rely on all sorts of algorithmic tricks (DLSS) to give an acceptable resolution and framerate. It's not going to be that much better on a 2024 videogame console. So then you are left with some patchwork upgrades to framerate and resolution, when outside of hardcore forums like this I just don't see a lot of people complaining about the performance of PS5. We hit diminishing returns on resolution long ago, even today high-end PC users are playing games on sub-native resolution.

The primary pitch of the PS4 Pro was to take advantage of the new 4K TV you just bought. That is a simple, easy to understand sales pitch. Even then only like 20% of PS4s sold were Pros. Most people didn't care. If Sony's sales pitch with the PS5 Pro is slightly better ray tracing and, I dunno, 1800p/60fps instead of 1440p/60fps, they won't even get close to that 20%.

I did that with my ps4 for the pro. Gamestop had a decent deal for PS4 trade-ins at the time. I think I got close to $200 for the base ps4.

But I felt filthy after doing that. I won't do it again. I've held off on a PS5 to this point, largely to see if there will be a pro. If I'm going to buy a PS5, it'll be the pro, and it'll be pros from here on out.

I think buying two consoles in a generation is a sucker move, and we're being played for idiots.

By the time it comes out,you'll be looking at least £$250 on top,because I think it will be more expensive than the regular PS5 if it has a high-ish end GPU

Not happening. PS4 pro and Xbox one x exist to support 4k tvs. There's no marketing hook for a PS5 pro to sell on. PS4 pro and xonex didn't sell that well to begin with.

Insider info with "Trust me Bro" sources aren't changing that.
