So what the reviewers said was true.

Wiuld you say the Standard edition is better to get?
I only have the premium edition because I want to review the game as soon as possible and didn't get a copy. I just did one side quest and arrived to new Atlantis. The world building in this game is amazing. Fantastic characters so far, great voice acting and the visual designs are great. It reminds me a lot of the first time when I've played Mass Effect.

Taking a food break now, can't wait to jump back in.

Pretty disappointed in the space stuff so far. Space combat doesn't feel good on mkb (probably because some of the default bindings are terrible) and space travel kinda sucks? As I'm writing this message my ship is going full-speed towards my next objective and it genuinely feels like I'm not moving at all. I've played a dozen of other space games over the years and they all did this so much better. As far as I can tell, the game wants me to use the menu to travel to the next objective but that's no fun...

Also the enemy AI is fucking awful, even on Very Hard.

Having said all that, I'm a sucker for Bethsoft's environmental storytelling so I'm sure I will enjoy the game overall... but I just had to vent my early thoughts.
Have to admit I am a little bummed about the space travel and combat as well

But I will be playing this game a lot and for a long time

Just wanted to post my performance so far.

PC = 6800 with 7600X 32GB RAM. Playing with everything on high (except Motion Blur set to off) and I've getting low to mid 60fps playing at 1440p. I have FSR2 and VSync turned on too.

Indoors is generally higher. Just got to New Atlantis and it was raining and the framerate went to mid to low 50s.

The AI is awful on Hard as well. I think they may take more damage but they are brain dead. Just in the first combat mission I had 1 "boss" pirate with 2 henchmen that kept backing up and then jumped over a wall and fell to their death. A couple of other enemies were just standing there facing the wrong way. Another time enemies where shooting at me so I stood behind a rock and they just kept shooting and didn't try to run towards me or anything. I don't expect the best AI but this appears to be almost nil. Maybe it's just the first mission but a bit disappointing.

The game runs fine for me which it should with a 4090. I did try the DLSS mod and it worked but I backed it out since I can run at Native 4K and haven't seen any slowdown. The loading is pretty fast so that's a plus.

Not bad so far. It definitely eases in a lot more gradually than the typical Bethesda fare. There isn't really a big setpiece to start off with. But you do get a nice tour of some pretty cool locations while it shows you the ropes.

I am surprised by how segmented the game is, how everything is broken up by these loading pauses, even the cities. It feels strange considering Bethesda's contributions to open, continuous world design. The load pauses are very brief (PC version) so it doesn't really ruin anything, I am just surprised by it. The tech feels a bit dated in some ways, even if the game design is incredibly ambitious.

Looking at the visuals I think this game was meant to be released back in 2020 but they just can't make so many of the stuff work and is forced to delayed for 3 years.

Been playing with my Series X controller and no control issues outside of no way to disable aim acceleration.

Voice acting so far is great, great music, overall very nice visually.

Dialogue is a little weird when two NPCs are talking and it just zooms in on one at a time instead of having them both in view.

Noticed a few visual bugs (shadows not showing up immediately, lighting glitching/flickering) and only one bug outside of that which was a body getting stuck in a door.

Most annoying thing so far is the menus. They go into so many layers and are a bit messy.

Played it an hour and a half, It runs terribly on the Series X. The upscaling solution is pretty bad. So bad, I thought motion blur was still on after I turned it off. Coming into this from a buttery smooth Armored Core VI is jarring to say the least. I don’t understand who this is for, actually. Feels like Cyberpunk mixed with The Outer Worlds. Both of those games are better than this one at 1.5 hours in.

Going to bed after playing 3 hours on XSX.

I usually never reply to shit like yours but yeah, stick a buttery smooth broom up your ass and go back to your robot game.

I was confused at first how to switch weapons, but I guess that you just go into your inventory and hover over the weapon you want, add to your favorites, and it will add it to your d-pad for quick selection.

Something like that, which also translates to it running alright on a pretty wide range of hardware..

Anybody get a different ship yet? I was able to kill a few bads and take their ship. Well, technically haven't taken off with it yet, not sure if that will ruin anything with the first main ship? At least story wise?

Made it to the ship and flew around a bit and landed. Only got to play an hour or so tonight. Its too early to really say. Some parts look awesome. Some parts look a little jank. Overall early impressions are positive. It does feel like this one is way more geared for 1st person than previous Bethesda games. The 3rd person animations do feel a little choppy.

The early star of the show for me was the general graphical and lighting polish and the OST, which seems a lot better than Inon Zurr stuff previously already.

Will be able to put in a larger session tomorrow.

Does feel weird that, even though I’m orbiting directly in front of a planet, I have to go into a menu which then presents an interactive model of the planet so I can choose a spot to land.
Warframe fixed this problem a decade ago. Some janky cutscenes and zooms are all you need. Ten years later I'm still amused by the loading screen ship controls. It's the little things that make it feel good...

Does anyone know where to go buy the Digipicks? Starfield's version of lockpicks. I need it for a quest to open a locked door X_X

I refunded it after trying for a couple of hours. I thought I could handle the 30fps, but christ does it feel bad. Whenever I move the camera, I feel like I can count the frames(slight hyperbole lol). Also the AI was dumb as a box of bethesda rocks.

This game so far is pretty hilarious. There are some great epic moments, but there are also moments where the game is so bad that it's just make you laugh. The civilian models are hilariously awful, as well as the texture of the trees, so many moments in the atlantis that make you LOL at those textures. Good luck modders, todd howard just gave them the mightiest challenge yet. If they could somehow make this game look good those modders deserve a great paying job in MS. CP2077 had a rough launch but the city there looks good in its launch, this atlantis truly does look ugly overall. Usually when I play AAA titles, I might dislike how they play but I like how they look for the most part, but not for atlantis, flat out ugliness overall.
